Numbers 26

26 And so, after the plague, the LORD spoke to Moses and to Eleazar, the son of Aaron the Priest, saying,

“Count all the Congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and above, throughout their father’s houses, all that go forth to war in Israel.”

So Moses and Eleazar the Priest spoke to them in the plain of Moab, by Jordan, near Jericho, saying,

“From twenty years old and above you shall count the people,” as the LORD had commanded Moses and the children of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt.

Reuben, was the firstborn of Israel. The children of Reuben were: Hanoch (of whom came the family of the Hanochites), Pallu (of whom came the family of the Palluites),

Hezron (the family of the Hezronites), Carmi (the family of the Carmites).

These are the families of the Reubenites. And they were forty-three thousand, seven hundred thirty in number.

And the son of Pallu was Eliab.

And the sons of Eliab: Nemuel and Dathan and Abiram. This Dathan and Abiram were famous in the Congregation and strove against Moses and against Aaron in the assembly of Korah, when they strove against the LORD

10 and the Earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up with Korah when the Congregation died, at which time the fire consumed two hundred and fifty men, who were for a sign.

11 Nevertheless, all the sons of Korah did not die.

30 These are the sons of Gilead: Jeezer (of whom came the family of the Jeezerites), Helek (of whom came the family of the Helekites),

31 Asriel (of whom came the family of the Asrielites), Shechem (of whom came the family of Shechemites),

32 Shemida (of whom came the family of the Shemidaites), Hepher (of whom came the family of the Hepherites).

33 And Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, had no sons but daughters. And the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

34 These are the families of Manasseh, and the number of them: fifty-two thousand seven hundred.

35 These are the sons of Ephraim, after their families: Shuthelah (of whom came the family of the Shuthalhites), Becher (of whom came the family of the Bachrites), Tahan (of whom came the family of the Tahanites).

36 And these are the sons of Shuthelah: Eran, of whom came the family of the Eranites.

37 These are the families of the sons of Ephraim, after their numbers: forty-two thousand five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph, after their families.

41 These are the sons of Benjamin, after their families and their numbers: forty-five thousand six hundred.

42 These are the sons of Dan, after their families: Shuham, of whom came the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan, after their households.

43 All the families of the Shuhamites were, after their numbers, sixty-four thousand four hundred.

44 The sons of Asher, after their families were: Jimna (of whom came the families of the Jimnites), Jesui (of whom came the family of the Jesuites), Beriah (of whom came the family of the Beriites).

45 The sons of Beriah were: Heber (of whom came the family of the Heberites), Malchiel (of whom came the family of the Malchielites).

46 And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.

47 These are the families of the sons of Asher, after their numbers: fifty-three thousand four hundred.

48 The sons of Naphtali, after their families were: Jahzeel (of whom came the families of the Jahzeelites), Guni (of whom came the family of the Gunites),

52 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

53 “To these the land shall be divided for an inheritance, according to the number of names.

54 “To the many you shall give more inheritance, and to the few you shall give less inheritance. Everyone shall be given his inheritance according to his number.

55 “Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot. They shall inherit according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.

56 “According to the lot shall its possession be divided between many and few.”

57 These also are the numbers of the Levites, after their families: Gershon (of whom came the family of the Gershonites), Kohath (of whom came the family of the Kohathites), Merari (of whom came the family of the Merarites).

60 And to Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

61 And Nadab and Abihu died, because they offered strange fire before the LORD.

62 And their numbers were twenty-three thousand, all males from a month old and above (for they were not numbered among the children of Israel because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel).

63 These are the numbers of Moses and Eleazar the Priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plain of Moab, near Jordan, toward Jericho.

64 And among these there was not a man whom Moses and Aaron the Priest had numbered among the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 For the LORD said to them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” So, there was not a man left of them, except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, the son of Nun.

Psalm 69

69 Save me, O God, for the waters have entered even to my soul.

I sink in the deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, and the streams run over me.

I am weary from crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who would destroy me, and are wrongfully my enemies, are mighty. Thus, I restored that which I did not take.

O God, You know my foolishness, and my faults are not hidden from You.

Do not let those who trust in You, O LORD God of Hosts, be ashamed because of me. Do not let those who seek You be confounded through me, O God of Israel.

For Your sake I have suffered reproach; shame has covered my face.

I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons.

For the zeal of Your House has eaten me, and the rebukes of those who rebuked You have fallen upon me.

10 I wept and my soul fasted; but that was to my reproach.

11 I put on sackcloth also; and I became a proverb to them.

12 Those who sit in the gate speak of me; and I am the song of the drunkards.

13 But LORD, I make my prayer to You in an acceptable time, in the multitude of Your mercy. O God, hear me in the truth of Your salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, so that I do not sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Do not let the flood water drown me or let the deep swallow me up; and do not let the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good! Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.

17 And do not hide Your face from Your servant, for I am in trouble. Hear me quickly.

18 Draw near to my soul and redeem it. Deliver me because of my enemies.

19 You have known my reproach and my shame and my dishonor. All my adversaries are before You.

20 Rebuke has broken my heart and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to have pity, but there was no one; and for comforters, but I found none.

21 For they gave Me gall in My food; and in My thirst they gave Me vinegar to drink.

22 Let their table be a snare before them, and their prosperity their ruin.

23 Let their eyes be blinded, so that they do not see; and make their loins tremble always.

24 Pour out Your anger upon them, and let Your wrathful displeasure take them.

25 Let their habitation be desolate; let no one dwell in their tents.

26 For they persecute him whom You have stricken; and they add to the sorrow of those whom You have wounded.

27 Lay iniquity upon their iniquity; and do not let them come into Your righteousness.

28 Let them be put out of the Book of Life. Do not let them be written with the righteous.

29 When I am poor and in heaviness, Your help, O God, shall exalt me.

30 I will praise the Name of God with a song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.

31 This also shall please the LORD better than a young bullock that has horns and hoofs.

32 The humble shall see this; and those who seek God shall be glad; and Your heart shall live.

33 For the LORD hears the poor and does not despise prisoners.

34 Let Heaven and Earth praise Him; the seas and all that moves in them!

35 For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, so that men may dwell there and possess it.

36 Also, the seed of His servants shall inherit it; and those who love His Name shall dwell therein. To him who excels: A Psalm of David, to put in remembrance

Isaiah 16

16 Send a lamb to the ruler of the world from the rock of the wilderness, to the mountain of the daughter Zion.

For it shall be as a bird that flies, and a nest forsaken. The daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.

“Gather a counsel, execute judgment, make your shadow as the night in the midday. Hide those who are chased out. Do not betray him who has fled.

“Let My banished dwell with you. Moab, be their shelter from the face of the destroyer. For the extortioner shall end. The destroyer shall be consumed, the oppressor shall cease from the land.

“And in mercy shall the throne be prepared. And He shall sit upon it in steadfastness, in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hastening justice.”

We have heard of the pride of Moab (he is very proud), its pride and its arrogance and its indignation. But not so its lies.

Therefore, Moab shall howl to Moab. Everyone shall howl. For the foundations of Kir Hareseth you shall mourn. Yet they shall be stricken.

For the vineyards of Heshbon are cut down, the vine of Sibmah. The lords of the heathen have broken its principal vines. Branches stretched themselves out and went over the sea.

Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer, and of the vine of Sibmah, O Heshbon! And Elealeh, I will make you drunk with my tears, because upon your summer fruits, and upon your harvest, a shouting has fallen.

10 And gladness is taken away, and joy, out of the plentiful field. And in the vineyards shall be no singing or shouting for joy. The treader shall not tread wine in the wine presses. I have caused the rejoicing to cease.

11 Therefore, my bowels shall sound like a harp for Moab, and my core for Kir Heres.

12 And when it shall appear that Moab shall be weary of its high places, then shall it come to its temple to pray, but it shall not prevail.

13 This is the Word that the LORD has spoken against Moab since that time.

14 And now the LORD has spoken, saying, “In three years (as the years of a hireling) the glory of Moab shall be despised in all the great multitude. And the remnant shall be very small and feeble.”

1 Peter 4

Therefore, as Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind. For he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

so that henceforth (as much time as remains in the flesh) he should not live after the lusts of man, but after the will of God.

For in the past of our lives, it may have sufficed for us to work after the same desires as the Gentiles: walking in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, in gluttony, carousing, and in abominable idolatries.

So, it seems strange to them that you do not run with them to the same excess of debauchery, and they speak evil of you.

They shall give account to Him Who is ready to judge quick and dead.

For to this purpose was the Gospel also preached to the dead: so that they might be condemned according to man in the flesh but might live according to God in the Spirit.

Now, the end of all things is at hand. Therefore, be of sound mind, and watching in prayer.

But above all things, have fervent love among you. For love shall cover a multitude of sins.

Be hospitable one to another, without grumbling.

10 The same gifts which everyone has received, let us minister to each other as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the words of God. If anyone ministers, let him do so as with the strength which God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ; to Whom is praise and dominion, forever and ever. Amen.

12 Dearly beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is among you (to test you), as though some strange thing had come to you.

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings! So that when His Glory shall appear, you may be glad and rejoice!

14 If you are railed upon for the Name of Christ, you are blessed! For the Spirit of Glory and of God rests upon you (Who on their part is blasphemed, but on your part is glorified).

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a busybody.

16 But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed. But let him glorify God in this behalf.

17 For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God. If it first begins with us, what shall the end be of those who do not obey the Gospel of God?

18 “And if the righteous are scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

19 Therefore, let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
