M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
24 When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, then he did not go, as certain times before, to set divinations. But set his face toward the wilderness.
2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes and looked upon Israel, which dwelt according to their tribe s. And the Spirit of God came upon him.
3 And he uttered his parable, and said, “Balaam, the son of Beor, has said, and the man whose eyes were shut up has said,
4 He who heard the words of God and who saw the vision of the Almighty and who fell and had his eyes opened, has said,
5 “How lovely are your tents, O Jacob, and your habitations, O Israel!
6 “As the valleys are they stretched forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the aloe trees which the LORD has planted, as the cedars beside the waters.
7 “The water drops out of His bucket, and His seed in many waters. And His King shall be higher than Agag. And His Kingdom shall be exalted.
8 “God brought him out of Egypt, his strength as a unicorn. He shall eat the nations, his enemies, and bruise their bones and shoot them through with his arrows.
9 “He crouches, lies down, as a young Lion, and as a Lion. Who shall stir him up? Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you.”
10 Then Balak was very angry with Balaam and clapped his hands. So Balak said to Balaam, “I sent for you to curse my enemies. And behold, you have blessed them now three times.
11 “Therefore, now, flee to your place! I thought surely to promote you to honor. But lo, the LORD has kept you back from honor.”
12 Then Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
13 ‘If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not surpass the Commandment of the LORD, to do good or bad of my own mind’? What the LORD shall Command, that same will I speak.
14 “And now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will advise you what this people shall do to your folk in the latter days.”
15 And he uttered his parable, and said, “Balaam, the son of Beor, has said, and the man whose eyes were shut up has said,
16 “He who has heard the words of God, and has the knowledge of the most High, and saw the vision of the Almighty, and has fallen and had his eyes opened, has said,
17 “I shall see him, but not now. I shall behold him, but not near. There shall come a Star of Jacob. And a Scepter shall rise from Israel and shall strike the coasts of Moab and destroy all the sons of Sheth.
18 “And Edom shall be possessed and Seir shall be a possession to their enemies. But Israel shall do valiantly.
19 “He also who shall have dominion shall be of Jacob and shall destroy the remnant of the city.”
20 And when he looked at Amalek, he uttered his parable, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations. But his latter end shall come to destruction.”
21 And he looked on the Kenites, and uttered his parable, and said, “Strong is your dwelling place. And put your nest in the Rock.
22 “Nevertheless, the Kenite shall be spoiled until Asshur carry you away captive.”
23 Again, he uttered his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24 “The ships also shall come from the coasts of Kittim and subdue Asshur and shall subdue Eber. And he also shall come to destruction.”
25 Then Balaam rose up and went and returned to his place. And Balak also went his way.
66 Rejoice in God, all the Earth!
2 Sing forth the Glory of His Name! Make His praise glorious!
3 Say to God, “How terrible are You in Your works! Through the greatness of Your power shall Your enemies be in subjection to You.
4 “All the world shall worship You and sing to You. Sing of Your Name!” Selah.
5 Come and behold the works of God. He is terrible in His doings toward the sons of men.
6 He has turned the sea into dry land. They passed through the river on foot. We rejoiced in Him there.
7 He rules the world with His power. His eyes behold the nations. The rebellious shall not exalt themselves. Selah.
8 Praise our God, you people, and make the voice of His praise heard.
9 He holds our souls in life and does not let our feet slip.
10 For You, O God, have tested us. You have refined us as silver is refined.
11 You have brought us into the net. You put pressure upon our loins.
12 You have caused men to ride over our heads. We went into fire and into water; but You brought us out into abundance.
13 I will go into Your House with burnt offerings and will pay You my vows
14 which my lips have promised; and my mouth has spoken in my affliction.
15 I will offer to You the burnt offerings of fat rams with incense. I will prepare bullocks and goats. Selah.
16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He has done to my soul.
17 I called to Him with my mouth and He was exalted with my tongue.
18 If I regard wickedness in my heart, the LORD will not hear me.
19 But God has heard me and considered the voice of my prayer.
20 Praised God, Who has turned away neither my prayer nor His mercy. To him who excels on Neginoth: A psalm or song
67 God be merciful to us and bless us. Cause His face to shine among us (Selah),
2 so that they may know Your way upon Earth and Your saving health among all nations.
3 Let the people praise You, O God. Let all the people praise You.
4 Let the people be glad and rejoice; for You shall judge the people righteously and govern the nations upon the Earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise You, O God. Let all the people praise You.
6 Then shall the Earth bring forth her increase; and God, even our God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us, and all the ends of the Earth shall fear Him. To him who excels: A psalm or song of David
14 For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will still choose Israel, and cause them to rest in their own land. And the stranger shall join himself to them. And they shall cling to the House of Jacob.
2 And the people shall receive them and bring them to their own place. And the House of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD, for servants and handmaids. And they shall take them prisoners, whose captives they were, and rule over their oppressors.
3 And on that day when the LORD shall give you rest from your sorrow and from your fear and from the sore bondage in which you served,
4 then you shall take up this Proverb against the king of Babel, and say, “How has the oppressor ceased and the gold-thirsty rested?
5 “The LORD has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,
6 “who struck the people in anger with a continual plague, ruled the nations in wrath, persecuted and were not hindered.
7 “The whole world is at rest and is quiet. They sing for joy.
8 Also, the fir trees rejoiced in You, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, “Since you were put down, no hewer came up against us.”
9 “Hell beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming, raising up the dead for you, all the princes of the Earth, and has raised from their thrones all the kings of the Nations.
10 “All they shall cry and say to you, ‘Have you become as weak as us? Have you become like us?
11 ‘Your pomp is brought down to the grave and the sound of the strings. The worm is spread under you. And the worms cover you.’
12 “How have you fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning, cut down to the ground which casts lots upon the Nations?
13 “Yet you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend into Heaven and exalt my throne above beside the stars of God. I will also sit upon the Mount of the Congregation, on the sides of the North.
14 ‘I will ascend above the height of the clouds. I will be like the Most High.’
15 “But you shall be brought down to the grave, to the side of the pit.
16 “Those who see you shall look upon you and consider you, saying, ‘Is this the man who made the Earth tremble, that shook the kingdoms?
17 ‘He made the world as a wilderness, destroyed its cities and did not open the house of his prisoners.’
18 “All the kings of the Nations, they all sleep in glory, everyone in his own house.
19 “But you are cast out of your grave like an abominable branch, the clothing of those who are killed, thrust through with a sword, which go down to the stones of the pit as a carcass trodden under foot.
20 “You shall not be joined with them in the grave because you have destroyed your own land, killed your people. The seed of the wicked shall not be renowned forever.
21 “Prepare a slaughter for his children, for the iniquity of their fathers. Let them not rise up or possess the land, or fill the face of the world with enemies.
22 “For I will rise up against them,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and will cut off the name and the remnant and the son and the nephew from Babel,” says the LORD.
23 “And I will make it a possession to the hedgehog, and pools of waste. And I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” says the LORD of Hosts.
24 The LORD of Hosts has sworn, saying, “Surely, just as I have purposed, so shall it come to pass. And as I have consulted, it shall stand:
25 “That I will break Assyria to pieces in My land. And upon My mountains I will tread him under Foot. So that his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden shall be taken from off their shoulder.
26 “This is the counsel that is consulted upon the whole world, and this is the hand stretched out over all the Nations,
27 “because the LORD of Hosts has determined. And who shall annul? His Hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?”
28 In the year that King Ahaz died, was this burden.
29 “Do not rejoice, all you of Philistia, because the rod of him who beat you is broken. For out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a viper, and its fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
30 “For the firstborn of the poor shall be fed, and the needy shall lie down in safety. And I will kill your root with famine. And it shall kill your remnant.
31 “Howl, O gate! Cry, O city! All of Philistia is dissolved! For a smoke shall come from the north. And no one shall be alone at his appointed time.”
32 What, then, shall one answer the messengers of the Gentiles: that the LORD has established Zion, and the poor of His people shall trust in it.
2 Therefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisy, and envy, and all blasphemy,
2 desire the sincere milk of the Word, as newborn babies; so that by it you may grow
3 (if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is bountiful),
4 coming to Him as to a living stone, indeed rejected by man but chosen by God and precious.
5 You also, as living stones, are being built up into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood; to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I put a Chief Cornerstone in Zion, elect and precious. And the one who believes in Him shall not be put to shame.”
7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious. But to those who are disobedient, “the Stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the Chief Cornerstone,”
8 and, “a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense,” to those who stumble at the Word, being disobedient. To this they were also appointed.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who are a Possession; so that you would show forth the virtues of the One Who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
10 In the past, you were not a people, yet are now the people of God, who in the past were not under mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly beloved, I urge you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.
12 And have your behavior be honorable among the Gentiles, so that those who speak against you as evil doers may, by your good works which they shall see, glorify God on the Day of visitation.
13 Therefore, submit yourselves to every institution of man, for the Lord’s sake; whether it is to the king (as superior),
14 or to governors (those sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do well).
15 For such is the will of God: that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men;
16 as free—yet not having freedom be a cloak for evil—but as servants of God.
17 Honor the whole brotherhood. Love brotherly fellowship. Fear God. Honor the King.
18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and courteous, but also to the crooked.
19 For this is grace: if anyone - for the sake of conscience toward God - endures grief, suffering wrongly.
20 For what praise is it, if when you are mistreated for your faults, you take it patiently? But if you suffer when you do well, and take it patiently, this is acceptable to God.
21 For you are called to this. For Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you could follow His steps.
22 “He did no sin. Nor was there guile found in His mouth.”
23 When He was reviled, He did not revile in return. When He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed it to Him Who judges righteously.
24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we, being dead to sin, would live in righteousness. “By His wounds you were healed.”
25 For you were as sheep, going astray, but now are returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
