Numbers 23

23 And Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare for me here seven bullocks and seven rams.”

And Balak did as Balaam said. And Balak and Balaam offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your Burnt Offering. And I will go, if the LORD will come meet me. And whatever He shows me, I will tell you.” So he went forth alone.

And God met Balaam. And Balaam said to him, “I have prepared seven altars and have offered a bullock and a ram upon every altar.”

And the LORD put an answer in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Go back to Balak and say the same.”

So, when he turned to him, lo, he stood by his Burnt Offering (he and all the princes of Moab).

Then he uttered his parable, and said, “Balak the King of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, ‘Come, curse Jacob for my sake. Come, and detest Israel.’

“How shall I curse where God has not cursed? Or how shall I detest where the LORD has not detested?

“For from the top of the rocks I saw him, and from the hills I beheld him. Lo, the people shall dwell by themselves and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

10 “Who can tell the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous. And let my last end be like his.”

11 Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies. And behold, you have blessed them altogether.”

12 And he answered, and said, “Must I not be careful to speak that which the LORD has put in my mouth?”

13 And Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place from where you may see them, and you shall see only the outer part of them and shall not see them all. Therefore, curse them out of that place, for my sake.”

14 And he brought him into Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

15 Afterward, he said to Balak, “Stand here by your Burnt Offering, and I will meet the LORD yonder.”

16 And the LORD met Balaam, and put an answer in his mouth, and said, “Go again to Balak, and say this.”

17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his Burnt Offering, and the princes of Moab with him. So Balak said to him, “What has the LORD said?”

18 And he uttered his parable, and said, “Rise up Balak, and hear! Listen to me, you son of Zippor!

19 “God is not as man, that He should lie; nor as the son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and shall not do it? And has He spoken, and shall not accomplish it?

20 “Behold, I have received Commandment to bless. For He has blessed. And I cannot alter it.

21 “He sees no iniquity in Jacob or transgression in Israel. The LORD his God is with him, and the joyful shout of a King is among them.

22 “God brought them out of Egypt, their strength as a unicorn.

23 “For there is no sorcery in Jacob, nor soothsaying in Israel. According to this time it shall be said of Jacob, and of Israel, ‘What has God wrought?’

24 “Behold, the people shall rise up as a lion, and lift himself up as a young lion. He shall not lie down till he eats of the prey, and till he drinks the blood of the slain.”

25 Then Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse nor bless them at all.”

26 But Balaam answered, and said to Balak, “Did I not tell you, saying, ‘All that the LORD speaks, that must I do?’”

27 Again Balak said to Balaam, “Please come, I will bring you to another place if it pleases God that from there you may curse them for my sake.”

28 So Balak brought Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks toward Jeshimon.

29 Then Balaam said to Balak, “Make seven altars for me here, and prepare seven bullocks for me here, and seven rams.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

Psalm 64-65

64 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the rage of the works of iniquity

which have whet their tongue like a sword and shot bitter words for their arrows,

to shoot at the upright in secret. They shoot at him suddenly and do not fear.

They encourage themselves in a wicked purpose. They commune together to lay snares privately, saying, “Who shall see them?”

They have sought out iniquities and have accomplished that which they sought. Everyone’s inward thoughts and depth of heart are both deep.

But God will shoot an arrow at them suddenly. Their strokes shall be sudden.

They shall cause them to fall upon their own tongue. Whoever shall see them shall flee away.

And all men shall see it and declare the work of God; and they shall understand what He has wrought.

10 But the righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and trust in Him; and all who are upright in heart shall rejoice. To him who excels: A psalm or song of David

65 O God, praise waits for You in Zion; and to You shall the vow be performed.

O, You Who hear prayer, to You shall all flesh come!

Wicked deeds have prevailed against me. But You will be merciful to our transgressions.

Blessed is he whom You choose and cause to come. He shall dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the pleasures of Your House, and of Your Holy Temple.

O God of our salvation, You will answer us with fearful signs in Your righteousness. You are the hope of all the ends of the Earth, and of those who are far off in the sea.

He establishes the mountains by His power, being clothed with strength.

He appeases the noise of the seas, and the noise of the waves thereof, and the tumults of the people.

Also, those who dwell in the uttermost parts shall be afraid of Your signs. You shall make the outgoings of the morning and the evening rejoice.

You visit the Earth and water it. You make it very rich. The river of God is full of water. You prepare their grain, for so You have appointed it.

10 You water the furrows thereof abundantly. You cause the rain to descend into the valleys thereof. You make it soft with showers and bless the bud thereof.

11 You crown the year with Your goodness; and Your steps drop fatness.

12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness; and the hills shall be surrounded with gladness.

13 The pastures are clad with sheep. The valleys, also, shall be covered with grain. They shout for joy and sing. To him who excels: A song or psalm

Isaiah 13

13 The burden of Babel, which Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw.

“Lift up a standard upon the high mountain. Lift up the voice to them. Wave the hand, so that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

“I have Commanded those whom I have sanctified. And I have called the mighty to My wrath, those who rejoice in My Glory.”

The noise of a multitude is in the mountains, like a great people, a tumultuous voice of the kingdoms of the Nations gathered together. The LORD of Hosts numbers the army of the battle.

They come from a far country, from the end of the heaven, the LORD with the weapons of His wrath, to destroy the whole land.

Howl! For the day of the LORD is at hand! It shall come as a destroyer from the Almighty!

Therefore shall all hands be weakened. And all men’s hearts shall melt.

And they shall be afraid. Anguish and sorrow shall take them. And they shall have pain, as a woman in childbirth. Everyone shall be amazed at his neighbor, and their faces flames of fire.

Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger to lay the land waste. And He shall destroy the sinners out of it.

10 For the stars of heaven and its planets shall not give their light. The Sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

11 “And I will visit the wickedness upon the world, and their iniquity upon the wicked. And I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will cast down the pride of tyrants.

12 “I will make a man more precious than fine gold, even a man above the wedge of gold of Ophir.

13 “Therefore I will shake the heaven, and the Earth shall move out of her place in the wrath of the LORD of Hosts, and on the day of His fierce anger.

14 “And it shall be as a chased doe, and as a sheep which no man gathers. Every man shall turn to his own people and flee to his own land.

15 “Everyone who is found shall be stricken through. And whoever is caught up, shall fall by the sword.

16 “Their children also shall be broken in pieces before their eyes. Their houses shall be spoiled and their wives ravished.

17 “Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver, nor be desirous of gold.

18 “With bows, also, they shall destroy the young men and shall have no compassion upon the fruit of the womb. And their eyes shall not spare the children.

19 “And Babel, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty and pride of the Chaldeans, shall be as the destruction of God in Sodom and Gomorrah.

20 “It shall not be inhabited forever, nor shall it be indwelt from generation to generation. Nor shall the Arabian pitch his tents there, nor shall their shepherds make their folds there.

21 “But Zijm shall lodge there. And their houses shall be full of Ohim. Ostriches shall dwell there. And the hairy goats shall dance there.

22 “And Iim shall cry in their palaces, and dragons in their pleasant palaces. And that time is ready to come. And those days shall not be prolonged.”

1 Peter 1

Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, To the strangers who dwell here and there throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia;

Elect, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, for sanctification of the Spirit through obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you.

Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who, according to His abundant mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope by the resurrection from the dead of Jesus Christ,

to an immortal and undefiled inheritance which does not wither, reserved in Heaven for us

who are kept for salvation through faith by the power of God (which is prepared to be revealed in the last time

and in which you rejoice. Though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through various trials

so that the trial of your faith—being much more precious than gold, which perishes even though it is tried with fire—might be found to your praise, honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ,

Whom you have not seen and yet love; in Whom now, though you do not see Him, you still believe and rejoice with unspeakable and glorious joy,

receiving the purpose of your faith: the salvation of your souls).

10 Of such salvation the Prophets have inquired and searched, prophesying of the grace that would come to you,

11 searching when or at what time the Spirit of Christ (Who testified before) was in them, declaring the sufferings that would come to Christ and the glory that would follow.

12 To them it was revealed—not to themselves, but to us— that they should minister the things which are shown to you by those who have preached the Gospel by the Holy Ghost, sent down from Heaven. These things the angels desire to behold.

13 Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind. Be sober and trust completely in that grace which is brought to you by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

14 As obedient children, do not conform yourselves to the former lusts of your ignorance.

15 But as He Who has called you is holy, so you be holy, in all manner of conversation.

16 Because it is written, “Be holy. For I am holy.”

17 And if you call him ‘Father’ (Who judges according to the work of each, without respect of persons), pass the time of your dwelling here in fear,

18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things - like silver and gold from your ineffective lifestyle received by the traditions of the Fathers -

19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb undefiled and without spot.

20 He was ordained before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sakes,

21 You, through Him, believe in God Who raised Him from the dead and gave Him Glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God.

22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth (through the Spirit) toward brotherly love without hypocrisy, love one another fervently, with a pure heart;

23 being born anew—not of mortal seed, but of immortal—by the Word of God, Who lives and endures forever.

24 For “all flesh is as grass. And all the glory of man is as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls away.

25 “But the Word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the Word which is preached among you.
