Leviticus 26

26 ‘You shall make no idols or graven images. Nor shall you rear up any pillar. Nor shall you set any image of stone in your land, to bow down to it. For I am the LORD your God.

‘You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My Sanctuary. I am the LORD.

‘If you walk in My Ordinances and keep My Commandments, and do them,

‘I will then send you rain in due season. And the land shall yield her increase. And the trees of the field shall give their fruit.

‘And your threshing shall reach until the vintage. And the vintage shall reach until sowing time. And you shall eat your bread in abundance, and dwell in your land safely.

‘And I will send peace in the land. And you shall sleep. And no one shall make you afraid. Also, I will rid the land of evil beasts. And the sword shall not go through your land.

‘Also you shall chase your enemies and they shall fall before you upon the sword.

‘And five of you shall chase a hundred. And a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight. And your enemies shall fall before you upon the sword.

‘For I will have respect to you and make you increase and multiply you and establish My Covenant with you.

10 ‘You shall also eat old stores and clear out the old because of the new.

11 ‘And I will set My Tabernacle among you. And My Soul shall not loathe you.

12 ‘Also, I will walk among you. And I will be your God. And you shall be My people.

13 ‘I am the LORD your God, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, so that you would not be their bondmen. And I have broken the bonds of your yoke and made you go upright.

14 ‘But if you will not obey Me, or do all these Commandments;

15 ‘and if you shall despise My Ordinances, or if your soul abhors My Laws (so that you will not do all My Commandments, but break My Covenant),

16 ‘then will I also do this to you: I will appoint fearfulness over you, a consumption and fever to consume the eyes and make the heart heavy. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

17 ‘And I will set My Face against you. And you shall fall before your enemies. And those who hate you shall reign over you. And you shall flee when no one pursues you.

18 ‘And if, after this, you will not obey Me, then will I punish you seven times more, according to your sins.

19 ‘And I will break the pride of your power. And I will make your Heaven as iron, and your Earth as brass.

20 ‘And your strength shall be spent in vain. Nor shall your land give her increase. Nor shall the trees of the land give their fruit.

21 ‘And if you walk stubbornly against Me, and will not obey Me, I will then bring seven times more plagues upon you, according to your sins.

22 ‘I will also send wild beasts upon you, which shall rob you, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number. So your highways shall be desolate.

23 ‘Yet, if by these you will not be reformed by Me, but walk stubbornly against Me,

24 ‘then I will also walk stubbornly against you. And I will strike you yet seven times for your sins.

25 ‘And I will send a sword upon you that shall avenge the quarrel of My Covenant. And when you are gathered in your cities, I will send the pestilence among you. And you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

26 ‘When I shall break the supply of your bread, then ten women shall bake your bread in one oven. And they shall deliver your bread again by weight. And you shall eat, but not be satisfied.

27 ‘Yet, after this, if you will not obey Me, but walk against Me stubbornly,

28 ‘then will I walk stubbornly in anger against you. And I will also chastise you seven times, according to your sins.

29 ‘And you shall eat the flesh of your sons. And the flesh of your daughters shall you devour.

30 ‘I will also destroy your high places and cut away your images and cast your carcasses upon the bodies of your idols. And My Soul shall abhor you.

31 ‘And I will make your cities desolate and bring your Sanctuary to nothing. And I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.

32 ‘I will also bring the land to a wilderness. And your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

33 ‘Also, I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you. And your land shall be waste. And your cities shall be desolate.

34 ‘Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate. And you shall be in your enemies’ land. Then shall the land rest and enjoy her Sabbaths.

35 ‘All the days that it lies desolate, it shall rest, because it did not rest in your Sabbaths, when you dwelt on it.

36 ‘And upon those who are left, I will send a weakness into their hearts in the land of your enemies. And the sound of a leaf shaken shall chase them. And they shall flee as fleeing from a sword. And they shall fall, no man pursuing them.

37 ‘They shall also fall one upon another, as before a sword, though no one pursues them. And you shall not be able to stand before your enemies.

38 ‘And you shall perish among the heathen. And the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

39 ‘And those who are left shall rot in their iniquity, in your enemies’ lands. And in the iniquities of their fathers shall they rot also.

40 ‘Then they shall confess their iniquity, and the wickedness of their fathers, for their trespass which they have trespassed against Me; and also because they have walked stubbornly against Me.

41 ‘Therefore, I will walk stubbornly against them, and bring them into the land of their enemies. So, then, their uncircumcised hearts shall be humbled. And they shall willingly bear their iniquity.

42 ‘Then I will remember My Covenant with Jacob, and also My Covenant with Isaac. And I will also remember My Covenant with Abraham; and will remember the land.

43 ‘The land also shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. But they shall willingly suffer their iniquity, because they despised My Laws, because their soul abhorred My Ordinances.

44 ‘Yet, notwithstanding this, when they shall be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away. Nor will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, to break My Covenant with them. For I am the LORD their God.

45 ‘But I will remember the Covenant of old for them, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, in the sight of the heathen, so that I might be their God. I am the LORD.’”

46 These are the Ordinances and the Judgments and the Laws which the LORD made between Him and the children of Israel, on Mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.

Psalm 33

33 Rejoice in the LORD, O righteous! It becomes upright men to be thankful.

Praise the LORD with harp! Sing to Him with viol and instrument of ten strings!

Sing to Him a new song! Sing cheerfully with a loud voice!

For the Word of the LORD is righteous; and all His works are faithful.

He loves righteousness and judgment. The Earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

By the Word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

He gathers the waters of the sea together, as upon a heap, and lays up the depths in His treasures.

Let all the Earth fear the LORD. Let all those who dwell in the world, fear Him.

For He spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood.

10 The LORD breaks the counsel of the heathen and brings the devices of the people to nothing.

11 The counsel of the LORD shall stand forever, and the thoughts of His heart throughout all ages.

12 Blessed is that nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen for His inheritance.

13 The LORD looks down from Heaven, beholding all the children of men.

14 From the habitation of His dwelling he beholds all those who dwell on the Earth.

15 He fashions their hearts, every one, understanding all their works.

16 The king is not saved by the multitude of an army; nor is the mighty man delivered by great strength.

17 A horse is a vain help and shall not deliver by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear Him, upon those who trust in His mercy

19 to deliver their souls from death and to preserve them in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the LORD. He is our Help and our Shield.

21 Surely, our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we trusted in His Holy Name.

22 Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us. As we trusted in You. A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech; who drove him away and he departed.

Ecclesiastes 9

I have surely given my heart to all this, and to declare all this, that the righteous and the wise and their works are in the Hand of God. And no man knows either love or hatred of all that is before him.

All things are the same for everyone. And the same conditions are for the righteous and for the wicked, for the good and pure and for the polluted, for him who sacrifices and for him who does not sacrifice. As it is for the good, so it is for the sinner, for he who swears as for he who fears an oath.

This is evil among all that is done under the Sun, that there is one condition for all. Also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live. And after that, they go to the dead.

Surely, whoever is joined to all the living has hope. For it is better to be a living dog than a dead lion.

For the living know that they shall die, but the dead know nothing at all. Nor do they have a reward anymore. For their remembrance is forgotten.

Also, their love and their hatred and their envy have now perished. And they have no more part in all that is done under the Sun, forever.

Go. Eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a cheerful heart! For God now accepts your works.

At all times, let your garments be white. And do not let oil be lacking upon your head.

Rejoice with the wife whom you have loved all the days of the life of your vanity, whom God has given you under the Sun, all the days of your vanity. For this is your portion in life, and in your travail in which you labor under the Sun.

10 All that your hand shall find to do, do it with all your power. For there is neither work nor invention nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave where you go.

11 I returned and I saw under the Sun that the race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong or bread to the wise or riches to men of understanding or favor to men of knowledge. But time and chance come to them all.

12 For man does not know his time. But as the fish which are taken in an evil net, and as the birds are caught in the snare, so are the children of men snared in the evil time when it falls upon them suddenly.

13 I have also seen this wisdom under the Sun. And it is great to me.

14 There was a little city, with few men in it. And a great king came against it and surrounded it and built siege ramps against it.

15 And there was found in the city a poor and wise man. And he delivered the city by his wisdom. But no one remembered this poor man.

16 Then I said, “Better is wisdom than strength.” Yet the wisdom of the poor is despised. And his words are not heard.

17 The words of the wise are more heard in quietness than the cry of him who rules among fools.

18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war. And one who sins destroys much good.

Titus 1

Paul, a servant of God, and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s Elect and the acknowledging of the Truth which is according to godliness;

in the hope of eternal life - which God, Who cannot lie, has promised since before the world began.

But He has revealed His Word in due time through preaching, which is committed to me according to the Commandment of God our Savior,

To Titus, my natural son according to the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

For this reason I left you in Crete, so that you would continue to organize the things which remain, and would ordain elders in every city, as I directed you

(if any are blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children who are not accused of wastefulness or disobedient).

For an overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not willful, not angry, not given to wine, not a brawler, not greedy;

but one who loves strangers and goodness, is wise, righteous, holy, temperate,

holding fast the faithful Word according to doctrine, so that he may also be able to encourage with sound doctrine and convince those who speak against it.

10 For there are many disobedient and empty talkers, and deceivers of minds (mainly those of the circumcision)

11 whose mouths must be stopped; who subvert whole houses, teaching things they ought not for the sake of dishonest gain.

12 One of them (one of their own Prophets) said, “The Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

13 This witness is true! Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they may be sound in the faith

14 and not holding onto Jewish fables and commandments of men which turn away from the Truth.

15 To the pure, are all things pure. But, to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. But even their minds and consciences are defiled.

16 They profess that they know God, but by works they deny Him and are abominable and disobedient and worthless as to every good work.
