Exodus 19

19 In the third month following the children of Israel’s going out of the land of Egypt, on that same day, they came into the wilderness of Sinai.

For they departed from Rephidim and came to the desert of Sinai and camped in the wilderness. It was there Israel camped before the Mount.

But Moses went up to God. For the LORD had called from out of the Mount to him, saying, “Thus shall you say to the House of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel,

‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. And I carried you upon eagle’s wings and have brought you to Me.

‘Now, therefore, if you will indeed hear My voice, and keep My Covenant, then you shall be My chief treasure above all people (though all the Earth is Mine).

‘You shall also be to Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

Then, Moses came and called for the elders of the people. And to them he proposed all these things which the LORD commanded him.

And the people all answered together, and said, “All that the LORD has commanded, we will do.” And Moses reported the words of the people to the LORD.

And the LORD said to Moses, “Lo, I will come to you in a thick cloud, so that the people may hear while I talk with you, and so that they may also believe you forever.” For Moses had told the words of the people to the LORD.

10 Moreover, the LORD said to Moses, “Go to the people and sanctify them, today and tomorrow; and let them wash their clothes.

11 “And let them be ready on the third day. For on the third day the LORD will come down, in the sight of all the people, upon Mount Sinai.

12 “And you shall set boundaries all around the people, saying, ‘Be careful that you do not go up to the mount, nor touch the border of it. Whoever touches the mount shall surely die.’

13 “No hand shall touch it, or he shall be stoned to death or struck through with arrows. Whether beast or man, he shall not live. When the horn blows long, they shall come up onto the mountain.”

14 Then Moses went down from the mount to the people and sanctified the people. And they washed their clothes.

15 And he said to the people, “Be ready on the third day. And do not come near your wives.”

16 And the third day, when it was morning, there was thunder and lightning and a thick cloud upon the mount and the sound of the trumpet, exceedingly loud, so that all the people who were in the camp were afraid.

17 Then Moses brought the people out of the tents to meet with God. And they stood at the foot of the mount.

18 And Mount Sinai was engulfed in smoke, because the LORD came down upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended, as the smoke of a furnace, and all the mount trembled exceedingly.

19 And when the sound of the trumpet blew long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spoke. And God answered him by voice.

20 For the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mount. And when the LORD called Moses up onto the top of the mount, Moses went up.

21 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down and remind the people not to break their boundaries and go up to the LORD to gaze, lest many of them perish.

22 “Also, let the priests who come to the LORD be sanctified, lest the LORD destroy them.”

23 And Moses said to the LORD, “The people cannot come up onto Mount Sinai. For You have charged us, saying, ‘Set boundaries on the mountain, and sanctify it.’”

24 And the LORD said to him, “Go. Get down and come up. You and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break their boundaries to come up to the LORD, lest He destroy them.”

25 So Moses went down to the people and told them.

Luke 22

22 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near (which is called the Passover).

And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill Him. For they feared the people.

Then Satan entered into Judas (who was called Iscariot and was among the number of the twelve).

And he went his way and discussed with the chief priests and captains how he might betray Him to them.

So they were glad and agreed to give him money.

And he consented and sought opportunity to betray Him to them when the people were away.

Then the Day of Unleavened Bread came (when the Passover must be sacrificed).

And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.”

And they said to Him, “Where would You have us prepare it?”

10 Then He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man bearing a pitcher of water shall meet you. Follow him into the house where he enters.

11 “And say to the good man of the house, ‘The Master says to you, “Where is the lodging where I shall eat My Passover with My disciples?”’

12 “Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make it ready there.”

13 So they went and found as He had said to them. And they made ready the Passover.

14 And when the hour had come, He sat down (and the twelve Apostles with Him).

15 Then He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

16 “For I say to you that I will not eat of it again until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

17 And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this, and divide it among you.”

18 For I say to you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God comes.”

19 And He took bread. And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in the remembrance of Me.”

20 Likewise, after supper, He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the New Testament in My blood, which is shed for you.

21 “Still, the hand of him who betrays Me is with Me at the table.

22 “And truly the Son of Man goes as it is appointed. But woe to that man by whom He is betrayed.”

23 Then they began to inquire among themselves about which one it could be who would do that.

24 And there also arose among them a dispute about which one was thought to be the greatest.

25 But He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles reign over them. And those who bear rule over them are called benefactors.

26 “But you shall not be so. But let the greatest among you be as the least; and the chief as he who serves.

27 “For who is greater, the one who sits at table, or the one who serves? Is not the one who sits at table? And I am among you as one who serves.

28 “And you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.

29 “Therefore, I appoint to you a Kingdom, as my Father has appointed to Me,

30 “So that you may eat and drink at My table, in My Kingdom; and sit on seats and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 And the Lord said, “Simon. Simon, behold! Satan has asked for you, to sift you as wheat.

32 “But I have prayed for you, that your faith does not fail. Therefore, when you have repented, strengthen your brothers.”

33 And he said to Him. “Lord, I am ready to go with You into prison, and to death!”

34 But He said, “I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before you have thrice denied that you knew Me.”

35 And He said to them, “When I sent you without bag and purse and shoes, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”

36 Then He said to them, “But now he who has a bag, let him take it, and likewise a purse. And he who has none, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword.

37 “For I say to you that the same which is written must still be performed in Me: ‘He was numbered with the wicked.’ For doubtless those things which are written of Me have an end.”

38 And they said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”

39 And He came out and went to the mount of Olives (as was His custom). And His disciples also followed Him.

40 And when He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray, lest you enter into trial.”

41 And He was drawn aside from them (about a stone’s cast) and kneeled down and prayed,

42 saying, “Father. If You will, take away this cup from Me. Nevertheless, not My will. But Yours be done.”

43 And an angel from Heaven appeared to Him, to comfort Him.

44 But being in an agony, He prayed more earnestly. And His sweat was like drops of blood, trickling down to the ground.

45 And He rose up from prayer, and came to His disciples, and found them asleep from sorrow.

46 And He said to them, “Why do you sleep?! Rise and pray, lest you enter into trial.”

47 And while He was still speaking, a crowd appeared. And he who was called Judas (one of the twelve) went before them and came near to Jesus to kiss Him.

48 And Jesus said to him, “Judas, you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

49 Now, when those who were around Him saw what would follow, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

50 And one of them struck a servant of the High Priest; and struck off his right ear.

51 Then Jesus answered, and said, “Enough!” And He touched his ear and healed him.

52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, and captains of the Temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out as for a thief, with swords and clubs?

53 “When I was with you daily in the Temple, you did not stretch forth hands against Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness!”

54 Then they took Him, and led Him, and brought Him to the High Priest’s house. And Peter followed at a distance.

55 And when they had kindled a fire in the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter also sat down among them.

56 And a certain maid saw him as he sat by the fire and, having looked at him intently, said, “This man was also with Him!”

57 But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him!”

58 And after a little while, another saw him, and said, “You are also one of them!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”

59 And about an hour after that, another affirmed, saying, “Truly, this man was also with Him! For he is also a Galilean!”

60 And Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about!” And immediately while he was still speaking, the cock crew.

61 Then the Lord turned back and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the Word of the Lord; how He had said to him, “Before the cock crows, you shall deny Me three times.”

62 And Peter went out and wept bitterly.

63 And the men who held Jesus mocked Him and struck Him.

64 And when they had blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face, and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy who it is that struck You!”

65 And they blasphemously spoke many other things against Him.

66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led Him into their council,

67 saying, “Are You the Christ? Tell us!” And He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe it.

68 “And also, if I ask you, you will not answer Me, nor let Me go.

69 “From now on, the Son of Man shall sit at the right hand of the power of God.

70 Then they all said, “Are You, then, the Son of God?!” And He said to them, “You say that I am.”

71 Then they said, “What need do we have of any further witness? For we ourselves have heard it from His own mouth!”

Job 37

37 “At this, also, my heart is astonished, and is moved out of its place.

“Hear the sound of His voice, and the noise that goes out of His Mouth.

“He directs it under the whole heaven, and His light to the ends of the world.

“After it, a noise sounds. He thunders with the Voice of His majesty. And He will not stop them when His Voice is heard.

“God thunders marvelously with His Voice. He works great things which we do not know.

“For He says to the snow, ‘Be upon the Earth,’ likewise to the small rain and to the great rain of His power.

“With its force He shuts up every man, so that all men may know His work.

“Then the beasts go into the den and remain in their places.

“The whirlwind comes out of the South, and the cold from the North wind.

10 “At the breath of God the frost is given and the breadth of the waters is made narrow.

11 “He also makes the clouds labor to water, and scatters the cloud with His light.

12 “And it is turned by His guidance, so that they may do whatever He commands them upon the whole world.

13 “Whether it be for punishment, or for His land, or from mercy, He causes it to come.

14 “Listen to this, O Job! Stand and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 “Do you know when God placed them, and caused the light of His cloud to shine?

16 “Have you known the variety of the cloud, the wondrous works of Him Who is perfect in knowledge,

17 “how your clothes are warm when He makes the Earth quiet through the South wind?

18 “Have you stretched out the heavens, which are strong as a molten glass?

19 “Tell us what we shall say to Him. We cannot arrange anything because of darkness.

20 “Shall it be told to Him when I speak? Or shall man speak when he shall be destroyed?

21 “And now men do not see the light which shines in the clouds, but the wind passes and cleanses them.

22 “The brightness comes out of the North, the praise to God, which is terrible.

23 “The Almighty: we cannot find him. Excellent in power and judgment, and abundant in justice, He does not afflict.

24 “Therefore, let men fear him. He will not regard any who are wise in their own heart.”

2 Corinthians 7

Seeing then we have these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and spirit, and complete our sanctification in the fear of God.

Receive us. We have wronged no one. We have corrupted no one. We have defrauded no one.

I speak it not to your condemnation. For I have said before that you are in our hearts, to die and live together.

I use great boldness of speech toward you. I rejoice greatly in you. I am filled with comfort and am exceedingly joyous in all our tribulation.

For when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest. But we were troubled on every side, fightings without, and terrors within.

But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us at the coming of Titus;

and only not by his coming, but also by the consolation with which he was comforted by you, when he told us your great desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me, so that I rejoiced much more.

For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent. Though, I did repent. For I perceive that the same letter made you sorry, though it were but for a season.

I now rejoice, not that you were sorry, but that you sorrowed unto repentance. For you sorrowed in a godly way, so that in nothing were you hurt by us.

10 For godly sorrow causes repentance unto salvation, not to be reconsidered. But the worldly sorrow causes death.

11 For behold, this thing of which you have been godly sorry, what great care it has wrought in you; yea, what acquittal of yourselves; yea, what indignation; yea, what fear; yea, how great desire; yea, what a zeal; yea, what vengeance. In all things, you have shown yourselves to be pure in this matter.

12 Therefore, though I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of the one who had done the wrong, nor the sake of the one who had the injury, but that our care toward you in the sight of God might appear to you.

13 Therefore we were comforted, because you were comforted. But we rejoiced even more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

14 For if I have boasted anything to him of you, I have not been ashamed. But as I have spoken to you all things in truth, even so our boasting to Titus was true.

15 And his inward affection is more abundant toward you when he remembers the obedience of you all, and how you received him with fear and trembling.

16 I rejoice that I may put my confidence in you in all things.
