M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
17 And all the Congregation of the children of Israel departed from the wilderness of Sin (breaking camp at the Commandment of the LORD), and camped in Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Therefore, the people contended with Moses, and said, “Give us water, so that we may drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you tempt the LORD?”
3 So the people thirsted for water there; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us out of Egypt like this, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”
4 And Moses cried to the LORD, saying, “What shall I do to this people? For they are almost ready to stone me.”
5 And the LORD answered Moses, “Go before the people; and take the elders of Israel with you. And take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river; and go.
6 “Behold, I will stand there before you upon the rock in Horeb. And you shall strike the rock and water shall come out of it, so that the people may drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 And he called the name of the place, “Massah” and “Meribah”, because of the contention of the children of Israel and because they had tempted the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”
8 Then, Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Pick out men for us, and go fight with Amalek. Tomorrow, I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”
10 So, Joshua did as Moses commanded him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur, went up to the top of the hill.
11 And when Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed. But when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed.
12 Now, Moses’ hands were heavy. Therefore, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat upon it. And Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and the other on the other side. So, his hands were steady until the the sun went down.
13 And Joshua weakened Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14 And the LORD said to Moses, “Write this for a remembrance in the book, and recount it to Joshua. For I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under Heaven.”
15 And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, “Jehovah Nissi” (the LORD is my Banner).
16 Also, he said, “The LORD has sworn that He will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
20 And it happened that on one of those days, as He taught the people in the Temple, and preached the Gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon Him, with the elders,
2 and spoke to Him, saying, “Tell us by what authority You do these things? Or, who is he who has given You this authority?”
3 And He answered, and said to them, “I also will ask you one thing. Therefore, tell me.
4 “The baptism of John, was it from Heaven, or of man?
5 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we shall say, ‘From Heaven,’ He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
6 “But if we shall say, ‘Of man,’ all the people will stone us. For they are persuaded that John was a Prophet.”
7 Therefore they answered that they could not tell from where it was.
8 Then Jesus said to them, “Nor shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
9 Then He began to speak this parable to the people, “A certain man planted a vineyard, hired farmers, and went into a strange country for a long time.
10 “And at the proper time, he sent a servant to the farmers to have them give him of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him and sent him away empty.
11 “Again, he sent yet another servant. And they beat him, and treated him badly, and sent him away empty.
12 “Moreover he sent the third. And they wounded him and cast him out.
13 “Then the Lord said of the vineyard, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that they will respect him.’
14 “But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned with themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.’
15 “So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. Therefore, what shall the Lord of the vineyard do to them?
16 “He will come and destroy these farmers and will give his vineyard to others.” But when they heard it, they said, “May it never be!”
17 And He looked at them, and said, “What, then, is the meaning of that which is written, ‘The stone that the builders refused, is made the head cornerstone?’
18 “Whoever shall fall upon that stone, shall be broken. And whomever it shall fall upon will be ground into powder.”
19 Then that same hour, the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people. For they perceived that He had spoken this parable against them.
20 And they watched Him and sent forth spies to act like righteous men and take Him in His talk (and deliver Him to the power and authority of the governor).
21 And they asked Him, saying, “Master, we know that You say and teach right, without partiality. And You teach the way of God truly.
22 “Is it lawful for us to give Caesar tribute or not?”
23 But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you tempt Me?
24 “Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription does it have?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”
25 Then He said to them, “Then, give to Caesar those things which are Caesar’s, and to God those which are God’s.”
26 And they could not catch Him in His words before the people. But they marveled at His answer and were silent.
27 Then some of the Sadducees came to Him (who deny that there is any resurrection). And they asked Him,
28 “Master, Moses wrote to us: ‘If anyone’s brother dies having a wife (and he dies without children), that his brother should take his wife and raise up seed to his brother.’
29 “Now there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and he died without children.
30 “And the second took the wife, and he died childless.
31 “Then the third took her. And so likewise did all seven die and leave no children.
32 “And last of all, the woman also died.
33 “Therefore, at the resurrection, whose wife shall she be? For seven had her as wife.”
34 Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “The sons of this world marry wives, and are married.
35 “But those who shall be counted worthy to enjoy that World, (and the resurrection from the dead) neither marry wives nor are married.
36 “For they can die no more, because they are equal to the angels and are the sons of God (since they are sons of the resurrection).
37 “And even Moses showed that the dead shall rise again when, beside the bush, he said, ‘The Lord is the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’
38 “For He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. For all live for Him.”
39 Then some of the scribes answered, and said, “Master, You have spoken well.”
40 And after that, they did not ask Him anything at all.
41 Then He said to them, “How can they say that Christ is David’s son?
42 “And David himself says in the Book of the Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,
43 “Till I shall make your enemies your footstool.?”’
44 “Seeing David called Him Lord, how then is He his son?
45 Then He said to His disciples (in front of all the people),
46 “Beware of the scribes who willingly walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets and the highest seats in the assemblies and the chief places at feasts!
47 “They devour widows’ houses and make long prayers for show! These shall receive greater damnation!”
35 Elihu spoke more, and said,
2 “Do you think this right, that you have said, ‘I am more righteous than God’?
3 “For you have said, ‘What does it profit You, and what does it avail me, to purge me from my sin?’
4 “I will answer you, and your companions with you.
5 “Look to the heaven and see and behold that the clouds are higher than you.
6 “If you sin, what have you done against Him? Indeed, when your sins are many, what have you done to Him?
7 “If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, or what does He receive from your hand?
8 “Your wickedness is for a man such as you, and your righteousness for a son of man.
9 “They cause many who are oppressed to cry, cry out for the violence of the mighty.
10 “But no one says, ‘Where is God Who made me, Who gives songs in the night,
11 ‘Who teaches us more than the beasts of the Earth, and gives us more wisdom than the birds of the heaven?’
12 “Then they cry because of the violence of the wicked. But He does not answer.
13 “Surely God will not hear vanity, nor will the Almighty regard it.
14 “Although you say, ‘You will not regard it’, judgment is still before Him. Trust in Him.
15 “But now, because His anger has not visited or called the evil to account with great extremity,
16 “therefore Job opens his mouth in vain, and multiplies words without knowledge.”
5 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle is destroyed, we have a building given by God; that is, a house, made not with hands, but eternal, in the heavens.
2 For therefore we sigh, desiring to be clothed with our house, which is from Heaven.
3 Because if we are clothed, we shall not be found naked.
4 For indeed, we who are in this tabernacle sigh and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but clothed; so that mortality might be swallowed up in life.
5 And He Who has created us for this thing, is God; Who also has given us the earnest portion of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always bold; although we know that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord.
7 For we walk by faith, and not by sight.
8 Nevertheless, we are bold, and are well-pleased rather to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord.
9 Therefore also, we desire eagerly, whether present or absent, to be acceptable to Him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that everyone may receive the things done through the body, according to what he has done, whether good or evil.
11 Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade man and are made manifest to God. And I trust also that we are made manifest in your consciences.
12 For we do not commend ourselves to you again but give you an occasion to exult on our behalf, so that you may have an answer toward those who rejoice in appearance, and not in the heart.
13 For if we are out of our wits, we are so to God: or if we are in our right minds, we are so to you.
14 For the love of Christ constrains us,
15 because we thus judge: that if One is dead for all, then were all dead. And He died for all, so that those who live, should henceforth no longer live for themselves, but for Him Who died for them and rose again.
16 Therefore, henceforth we consider no one according to the flesh. Yea, even though we had known Christ according to the flesh, we do so no more.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
18 And all things are of God, Who has reconciled us unto Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
19 For God was in Christ, and reconciled the world to Himself, not imputing their sins unto them; and has committed the Word of reconciliation to us.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God is exhorting you through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God!
21 For He has made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we should be made the righteousness of God in Him.
