11 Now the LORD had said to Moses, “I will yet bring one more plague upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he shall at once chase you from here.
2 “Speak now to the people, so that every man requires from his neighbor, and every woman from her neighbor, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.”
3 And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Also, Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.
4 And Moses said, “Thus says the LORD: ‘About midnight, I will go out into the midst of Egypt.
5 ‘And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, to the firstborn of the maid servant who is at the mill, and all the firstborn of beasts.
6 ‘Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as has never been before, nor shall be.
7 ‘But, against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move his tongue, against man or beast, so that you may know that the LORD puts a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
8 ‘And all your servants shall come down to Me, and fall before Me, saying, “Get out, and all the people who are at your feet!” And after this I will depart.’” So, he went out from Pharaoh very angry.
9 And the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh shall not hear you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”
10 So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart; and he did not allow the children of Israel to go out of his land.
12 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 “This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be to you the first month of the year.
3 “Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month, let every man take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his fathers, a lamb for each household.
4 ‘And if the household is too small for the lamb, he and his neighbor (who is next to his house) shall take one, according to the number of people. You shall divide the lamb according to each man’s eating.
5 ‘Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of a year old. You shall take it from the lambs or from the kids.
6 ‘And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month. Then all the multitude of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
7 ‘Afterward, they shall take from the blood and strike it on the two side posts, and on the lintels, of the houses where they shall eat it.
8 ‘And they shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread. With sour herbs they shall eat it.
9 ‘Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all in water, but roasted with fire (its head, its feet, and its entrails).
10 ‘And you shall reserve nothing of it until the morning. But that which remains of it in the morning you shall burn with fire.
11 ‘And thus shall you eat it: with a belt around your waist, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD’s Passover.
12 ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt the same night and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and I will execute judgment upon all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.
13 ‘And the blood shall be a sign for you upon the houses where you are. So, when I see the blood, I will pass over you. And the plague shall not be upon you, to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
14 ‘And this day shall be to you a remembrance. And you shall keep it a holy Feast to the LORD, throughout your generations. You shall keep it holy by an ordinance, forever.
15 ‘For seven days, you shall eat unleavened bread; and the first day, you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.
16 ‘And on the first day there shall be a holy assembly. Also, on the seventh day there shall be a holy assembly for you. No work shall be done on them, except that which everyone must eat. That only may you do.
17 ‘You shall also keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For that same day, I will bring your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore, you shall observe this day, throughout your posterity, by an ordinance, forever.
18 ‘In the first month, from twilight on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall eat unleavened bread until twilight on the twenty-first day of the month.
19 ‘For seven days, no leaven shall be found in your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread, that person shall be cut off from the Congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or born in the land.
20 ‘You shall eat no leavened bread. In all your dwellings, you shall eat unleavened bread.’”
21 Then, Moses called all the elders of Israel, and said to them, “Choose and take a lamb for each of your households; and kill the Passover.
14 And it happened that when He had entered into the house of one of the chief Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they watched Him.
2 And behold, there was a certain man before Him who suffered from edema.
3 Then Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
4 And they held their peace. Then He took him and healed him and let him go.
5 And He answered them, saying, “Who of you shall have a donkey or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?”
6 And again they could not answer Him about those things.
7 He also spoke a parable to the guests when He noted how they selected the chief seats at the table, and said to them,
8 “When you shall be invited by anyone to a wedding, do not sit yourself down in the place of honor, lest a more honorable than you be invited.
9 “And the one who invited both you and him comes and says to you, ‘Give this man that place.’ And then you begin (with shame) to take the lowest place.
10 “But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place. So that when the one who invited you comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, sit up higher.’ Then you shall have honor in the presence of those who sit at table with you.
11 “For whoever exalts himself, shall be brought low. And the one who humbles himself, shall be exalted.”
12 Then He also said to the one who had invited Him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen or the rich neighbors, so that they invite you in return, and a recompense be made to you.
13 “But when you make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.
14 “And you shall be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you shall be recompensed at the Resurrection of the Just.”
15 Now when one of them who sat at table heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who eats bread in the Kingdom of God.”
16 Then He said to him, “A certain man made a great supper, and invited many,
17 “and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come. For all things are now ready.’
18 “But they all, with one mind, began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a farm, and I must go out and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’
19 “And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen. And I go to test them. I ask that you have me excused.’
20 “And another said, ‘I have married a wife. And therefore, I cannot come.’
21 “So that servant returned and told his master these things. Then the good man of the house was angry, and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city! And bring the poor in here, and the maimed, and the lame, and the blind!’
22 “And the servant said, ‘Lord, it is done as you have commanded. And still there is room.’
23 “Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and urge them to come in, so that my house may be filled.
24 ‘For I say to you that none of those who were invited shall taste of my supper.’”
25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them,
26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters - yes, and even his own life - he cannot be My disciple.
27 “And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.
28 “For who of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down beforehand and count the cost (whether he has the means to complete it),
29 “lest after he has laid the foundation and is not able to complete it, all who behold it begin to mock him,
30 “saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
31 “Or what king (going to make war against another king) does not first sit down and take counsel on whether he is able, with ten thousand, to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
32 “Otherwise, while he is still a great way off, he sends ambassadors to ask for peace.
33 “So likewise, whoever of you who does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
34 “Salt is good. But if salt has lost its savor, with what shall it be salted?
35 “It is fit neither for the land nor for manure. But it is cast out. The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
29 So Job proceeded, and continued his parable, saying,
2 “Oh that I were as in times past, when God preserved me,
3 “when His light shined upon my head! By His light I walked through the darkness,
4 “as I was in the days of my youth, when God’s providence was upon my tabernacle,
5 “when the Almighty was still with me, and my children all around me,
6 “when I washed my paths with butter, and when the rock poured out rivers of oil for me.
7 “When I went out to the gate, to the judgment seat, I caused them to prepare my seat in the street.
8 “The young men saw me and hid themselves. And the aged arose, stood up.
9 “The princes stopped talking and laid their hand on their mouth.
10 “The voice of princes was hidden, and their tongue clung to the roof of their mouth.
11 “And when the ear heard me, it blessed me. And when the eye saw, it gave witness to me.
12 “For I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless, and him who had no one to help him.
13 “The blessing of him who was ready to perish came upon me. And I caused the widow’s heart to rejoice.
14 “I put on justice, and it covered me, my judgment as a robe and a crown.
15 “I was the eyes to the blind, and I was the feet to the lame.
16 “I was a father to the poor, and I did not know the cause. I sought it out diligently.
17 “I also broke the jaws of the unrighteous man and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
18 “Then I said, ‘I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply days as the sand.
19 ‘My root is spread out by the water, and the dew shall lie upon my branch.
20 ‘My glory shall renew toward me, and my bow shall be restored in my hand.’
21 “Men gave ear to me, and waited, and held their tongue at my counsel.
22 “After my words they did not reply, and my talk dropped upon them.
23 “And they waited for me, as for the rain. And they opened their mouth as for the latter rain.
24 “I laughed at them. They did not believe it. Nor did they cause the light of my countenance to fall.
25 “I pointed out their way, and sat as chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, like him who comforts the mourners.”
15 Moreover brothers, I declare to you the Gospel which I preached to you, which you have also received, and wherein you continue,
2 And whereby you are saved, if you keep in memory the Word which I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain.
3 For first of all, I delivered to you that which I received, how that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures.
4 And that He was buried, and that He arose the third day, according to the Scriptures.
5 And that He was seen by Cephas, then by the Twelve.
6 After that, He was seen by more than five hundred brothers at once, of whom many remain to this time, and some also are asleep.
7 After that, He was seen by James, then by all the Apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen also by me, as by one born at the wrong time.
9 For I am the least of the Apostles, who is not fit to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the Church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am that I am. And His grace which is in me, was not in vain. But I labored more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which is with me.
11 Therefore, whether it was me or them, so we preach and so have you believed.
12 Now if it is preached that Christ is risen from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen.
14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain.
15 And we are found also false witnesses of God. For we have testified of God, that He has raised up Christ, Whom He has not raised up, if it be so that the dead are not raised.
16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ is not raised.
17 And if Christ is not raised, your faith is vain. You are still in your sins.
18 And so those who are asleep in Christ, have perished.
19 If it is only in this life that we have hope in Christ, we are of all mankind the most miserable.
20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead and made the firstfruits of those who slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man also came the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 Yet, each in his own order: the Firstfruits, Christ; afterward, those who are of Christ, at His coming.
24 Then, the end, when He has delivered up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when He has abolished all rule, and all authority and power.
25 For He must reign till He has put all His enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be ended, is death.
27 For He has subjected all things under His feet. (And when He says that all things are subjected, it is obvious that He is excepted, Who subjected all things under Himself.)
28 And when all things shall be subjected to Him, then shall the Son also, Himself, be subject to Him, Who subjected all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.
29 Or else what shall they do who are baptized for dead? If the dead do not rise at all, why then are they baptized for dead?
30 Why are we also in danger every hour?
31 By your rejoicing, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32 If, after the habit of man, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me, if the dead are not raised up? Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die.
33 Do not be deceived. Bad company corrupts good morals.
34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin. For some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come forth?”
36 O fool. That which you sow does not come alive unless it dies.
37 And that which you sow, you do not sow the body that shall be, but bare corn as it falls, of wheat, or of some other.
38 But God gives it a body at His pleasure, even to every seed his own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of man, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fish, and another of birds.
40 There are also heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies. But the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.
41 There is another glory of the Sun, and another glory of the Moon, and another glory of the stars. For one star differs from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption and is raised in incorruption.
43 It is sown in dishonor and is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness and is raised in power.
44 It is sown a natural body and is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 As it is also written, “The first man, Adam, was made a living soul.” And the last Adam was made a life-giving Spirit.
46 But that which is spiritual was not first; but that which is natural, and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the Earth, earthly. The second Man is the Lord from Heaven.
48 As is the earthly, such are those who are earthly. And as is the heavenly, such are those also who are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthly, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly.
50 This I say, brothers: that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall blow, and the dead shall be raised up incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption: and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up into victory.”
55 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?
56 The sting of death is sin. And the strength of sin is the Law.
57 But thanks be to God, Who has given us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, abundant always in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
