Exodus 8

Afterward, the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Let my people go, so that they may serve Me.

“And if you will not let them go, behold, I will strike all your country with frogs.

“And the river shall crawl full of frogs; which shall go up and come into your house, and into your chamber where you sleep, and upon your bed, and into the house of your servants, and upon your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading troughs.

“Indeed, the frogs shall climb up upon you, and on your people, and upon all your servants.”’”

Also the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod upon the streams, upon the rivers, and upon the ponds,’ and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.”

Then, Aaron stretched out his hand upon the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

And the sorcerers did likewise with their sorceries and brought frogs up upon the land of Egypt.

Then, Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Pray to the LORD, that He may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, so that they may do sacrifice to the LORD.”

And Moses said to Pharaoh, “It is your glory to command—when I shall pray for you and for your servants and for your people to destroy the frogs from you and from your houses—that they may remain in the river only.”

10 Then he said, “Tomorrow.” And he answered, “May it be as you have said, so that you may know that there is none like the LORD our God.

11 “So the frogs shall depart from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people. They shall only remain in the river.”

12 Then, Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh. And Moses cried to the LORD concerning the frogs which he had sent to Pharaoh.

13 And the LORD did according to the saying of Moses. So, the frogs died in the houses, in the towns, and the fields.

14 And they gathered them together by heaps. And the land stank.

15 But when Pharaoh saw that he had rest, he hardened his heart; and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said.

16 Again, the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your rod and strike the dust of the earth,’ so that it may be turned to lice throughout all the land of Egypt.”

17 And they did so. For Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod and struck the dust of the earth. And lice came upon man and upon beast. All the dust of the earth was lice, throughout all the land of Egypt.

18 Now the enchanters did likewise with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So, the lice were upon man and upon beast.

19 Then the enchanters said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart remained obstinate; and he did not listen to them (as the LORD had said).

20 Moreover, the LORD said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh (lo, he will come forth to the water) and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Let My people go, so that they may serve Me.

21 “And if you will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon you, and upon your servants, and upon your people, and into your houses. And the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.

22 “But the land of Goshen, where My people are, I will cause to be wonderful on that day, so that no swarms of flies shall be there, and so that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the Earth.

23 “And I will make a deliverance of My people from your people.”’ This miracle shall be tomorrow.”

24 And the LORD did so. For there came great swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants’ houses, so that the Earth was corrupted by the swarms of flies, throughout all the land of Egypt.

25 Then, Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Go. Do sacrifice to your God in this land!”

26 And Moses answered, “It is not right to do so. For we would be offering to the LORD our God that which is an abomination to the Egyptians. Lo, can we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes and not have them stone us?

27 “Let us go three days’ journey in the desert and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as He has commanded us.”

28 And Pharaoh said, “I will let you go, so that you may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness. But do not go far away. Pray for me.”

29 And Moses said, “Behold, I will go out from you and pray to the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people tomorrow. But henceforth, let Pharaoh not deceive anymore in not letting the people sacrifice to the LORD.”

30 So, Moses went out from Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD.

31 And the LORD did according to the saying of Moses. And the swarms of flies departed from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. Not one remained.

32 Yet Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also and did not let the people go.

Luke 11

11 And so it was that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.”

And He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father, Who are in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Let Your will be done even on Earth, as in Heaven.

‘Give us our daily bread each day.

‘And forgive us our sins. As we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into trial. But deliver us from the evil one.’”

Moreover He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves.

‘For a friend of mine has come out of the way to me, and I have nothing to set before him.’

“And the one inside answers, and says, ‘Do not trouble me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot rise and give them to you!’

“I say to you that though he would not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet he would undoubtedly rise and give him as many as he needed because of his persistence.

“And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

10 “For everyone who asks, receives. And the one who seeks, finds. And to the one who knocks, it shall be opened.

11 “If a son shall ask for bread from any of you who is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead?

12 “Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

13 “If you, then, who are evil, can give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to those who desire Him?

14 Then He cast out a demon who was dumb. And when the demon had gone out, the dumb spoke, and the people wondered.

15 But some of them said, “He casts out demons through Beelzebub, the chief of the demons.

16 And others tempted Him, seeking a sign from Heaven from Him.

17 But He knew their thoughts, and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself, shall be desolate. And a house divided against a house, falls.

18 So, if Satan is also divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons through Beelzebub?

19 If I cast out demons through Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore, they shall be your judges.

20 But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, doubtless the Kingdom of God has come to you.

21 When a strong man, fully armed, guards his house, the things that he possesses are in peace.

22 But when someone stronger comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes away all the armor in which he had trusted and divides his spoils.

23 “Whoever is not with Me, is against Me. And whoever does not gather with Me, scatters.

24 “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest. And when he finds none, he says, ‘I will return to the house from where I came out.’

25 “And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order.

26 “Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits worse than himself. And they enter in, and dwell there. So, the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

27 And it happened that as He said these things, a certain woman in the crowd lifted up her voice, and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which You have sucked.”

28 But He said, “On the contrary. Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it.”

29 And when the people were thickly gathered together, He began to say, “This is a wicked generation! They seek a sign. And no sign shall be given to them, except the sign of Jonah the Prophet.

30 “For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall the Son of Man be to this generation.

31 “The Queen of the South shall rise in judgment with the men of this generation and shall condemn them. For she came from the utmost parts of the Earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold, a Greater than Solomon is here.

32 “The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation and shall condemn it. For they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And behold, a Greater than Jonah is here.

33 “No one, when he has lit a candle, puts it in a private place, or under a bushel, but on a candlestick. So that those who come in may see the light.

34 “The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is sound, then your whole body is light. But if your eye is evil, then your body is dark.

35 “Take care, therefore, that the light which is in you is not darkness.

36 “Therefore, if your whole body is full of light - having no part darkness - then all shall be light (just as when a candle lights you with its brightness).”

37 And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. And He went in and sat down at the table.

38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner.

39 And the Lord said to him, “Indeed you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and the platter clean, but the inward part is full of plundering and wickedness.

40 “You fools. Did not He Who made that which is outside also make that which is inside?

41 “Therefore, give alms from those things which you have. And behold, all things shall be clean to you.

42 “But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all kinds of herbs but pass over judgment and the love of God. These you ought to have done while not leaving the other undone.

43 “Woe to you, Pharisees! For you love the uppermost seats in the synagogues and greetings in the markets.

44 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees! Hypocrites! For you are as unseen graves, and the men who walk over them are unaware.”

45 Then one of the lawyers answered, and said to Him, “Master, by saying this, You insult us also.”

46 And He said, “Woe to you also, you lawyers! For you load man with heavy burdens to bear. And you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

47 “Woe to you! For you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

48 “Truly you bear witness and approve the deeds of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their sepulchers.

49 “Therefore the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles. And of them they shall kill and persecute,’

50 “so that the blood of all the prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,

51 “from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah (who was killed between the altar and the Temple) truly I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.

52 “Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who came in you hindered.”

53 And as He said these things to them, the scribes and Pharisees began to plead with Him angrily, and to provoke Him to speak of many things,

54 lying in wait for Him, seeking to catch something from His mouth by which they might accuse Him.

Job 25-26

25 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, and said,

“Power and fear are with Him Who makes peace in His places.

“Is there any number to His armies? And upon whom shall not His light arise?

“And how may a man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of woman?

“Behold, He will give no light to the Moon. And the stars are unclean in His sight.

“How much less so is man (a maggot) and the son of man (a worm)?”

26 But Job answered, and said,

“Whom do you help who has no power? Do you save the arm that has no strength?

“Whom do you counsel who has no wisdom? Whom do you show right in abundance?

“To whom do you declare these words? Or whose spirit comes out of you?

“The dead things are formed under the waters, and near to them.

“The grave is naked before Him, and there is no covering for destruction.

“He stretches out the North over the empty place, and hangs the Earth upon nothing.

“He binds the waters in His clouds, and the cloud is not broken under them.

“He holds back the face of His throne, and spreads His cloud upon it.

10 “He has set bounds around the waters, until the day and night come to an end.

11 “The pillars of Heaven tremble and quake at His reproof.

12 “The sea is calm by His power, and by His understanding He strikes its pride.

13 “His Spirit has garnished the heavens. His Hand has formed the crooked serpent.

14 “Lo, these are part of His ways. But how little a portion we hear of Him? And who can understand His fearful power?”

1 Corinthians 12

12 Now, concerning spiritual things, brothers, I would not have you ignorant.

You know that you were Gentiles, and were carried away to the dumb idols, as you were led.

Therefore, I declare to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed. Also, no one can say that Jesus is the Lord, except by the Holy Ghost.

Now, there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

And there are diversities of services, but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations, but God is the same Who works all in all.

Yet the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each, for the profit of all.

For by the Spirit, the Word of wisdom is given to one; and to another, the Word of knowledge, by the same Spirit;

and to another, faith, by the same Spirit; and to another, the gifts of healing, by the same Spirit;

10 and to another, the operations of miracles; and to another, prophecy; and to another, the discerning of spirits; and to another, diversities of tongues; and to another, the interpretation of tongues.

11 Yet, in all these things works one and the same Spirit, distributing to everyone personally, as He will.

12 For as the body is one yet has many members—and all the members of the body, though they be many, are one body—even so is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body - whether Jews or Greeks, whether slave or free - and have all been made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body is also not one member, but many.

15 If the foot would say, ‘Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body’, is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear would say, ‘Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body’, is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where then the hearing? And if the whole were hearing, where then the smelling?

18 But now, God has placed the members, every one of them in the body, at His own pleasure.

19 For if they were all one member, where is the body?

20 But indeed, there are now many members, yet one body.

21 Now the eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I have no need of you.’ Nor again the head to the feet, ‘I have no need of you.’

22 Yea, but it is much rather those members of the body which seem to be weaker which are necessary.

23 And upon those members of the body which we think most dishonorable, we place more honor. And those of us who are indecent are more presentable.

24 For the presentable of us have no need. But God has blended the body together, and has given more honor to that which lacked,

25 lest there should be any division in the body. So that the members should have the same care one for another.

26 Therefore, if one member suffers, all suffer with it. If one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and particular members.

28 And God has ordained some in the Church: first Apostles, second Prophets, third teachers, then those who do miracles, after that, the gifts of healing, helping, administration, kinds of tongues.

29 Are all Apostles? Are all Prophets? Are all teachers?

30 Are all doers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

31 But desire the better gifts. And still I will show you a more excellent way.
