M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came into Egypt. Every man and his household came there with Jacob.
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
5 So all the souls who came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls. Joseph was in Egypt already.
6 Now Joseph died, and all his brothers, and that whole generation.
7 And the children of Israel brought forth fruit and increased in abundance, and were multiplied, and were exceedingly mighty, so that the land was full of them.
8 Then there rose up a new king in Egypt, who did not know Joseph.
9 And he said to his people, “Behold, the people of the children of Israel are greater and mightier than us.
10 “Come, let us work wisely with them, lest they multiply and it happens that if there is war, they also join themselves to our enemies and fight against us and get themselves out of the land.”
11 Therefore, they set taskmasters over them, to keep them under with burdens. And they built the cities Pithom and Raamses for the treasures of Pharaoh.
12 But the more they burdened them, the more they multiplied and grew. Therefore, they were more grieved against the children of Israel.
13 So, the Egyptians caused the children of Israel to serve by cruelty.
14 Thus, they made them weary of their lives by extreme labor in clay and in brick, and in all work in the field, with all manner of bondage, which they laid upon them most cruelly.
15 Moreover, the king of Egypt commanded the midwives of the Hebrew women (of which one’s name was Shiphrah, and the name of another, Puah)
16 and said, “When you do the office of a midwife to the women of the Hebrews, and see them on their stools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him. But if it is a daughter, then let her live.”
17 Nevertheless, the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them but saved the male children.
18 Then the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this, and have saved the male children?”
19 And the midwives answered Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not as the women of Egypt. For they are vigorous and are delivered before the midwives approach them.”
20 God, therefore, prospered the midwives; and the people multiplied and were very mighty.
21 And therefore, because the midwives feared God, He made them houses.
22 Then, Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, “Cast every male child who is born into the river, but save every female child.”
4 And Jesus, full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 and was tempted forty days by the devil. And in those days, He ate nothing. But after they had ended, He was hungry.
3 Then the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone, that it be made bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread only, but by every Word of God.’”
5 Then the devil took Him up into a high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, in the twinkling of an eye.
6 And the devil said to Him, “All this power, and the glory of those kingdoms, will I give You. For that is delivered to me. And to whomever I will, I give it.
7 “Therefore, if You will worship me, they shall be all Yours.”
8 But Jesus answered him, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone You shall serve.’”
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on a pinnacle of the Temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, cast Yourself down from here.
10 “For it is written, “He will give His angels charge over you, to keep you.
11 “And with their hands they shall lift you up, lest at any time you should dash your foot against a stone.”
12 And Jesus answered, and said to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a little season.
14 And Jesus returned (by the power of the Spirit) into Galilee. And word spread of Him throughout all the surrounding region.
15 For He taught in their synagogues and was honored by all.
16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been raised. And as was His custom, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 And the book of the Prophet Isaiah was given to Him. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written,
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poor. He has sent Me, that I should heal the brokenhearted, that I should preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind; that I should set at liberty those who are bruised,
19 and that I should preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 And He closed the book, and returned it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.
21 Then He began to say to them, “This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
22 And all bore Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth, and said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”
23 Then He said to them, “You will surely say to me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal Yourself. Whatever we have heard was done in Capernaum, do it here also in Your own country.’”
24 And He said, “Truly I say to you, no Prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 “But I tell you the truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when Heaven was shut three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land.
26 “But to none of them was Elijah sent, except to a certain widow in Zarephath, of Sidon.
27 “Also, many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the Prophet. Yet none of them was made clean, except Naaman the Syrian.”
28 When all those in the synagogue heard that, they were filled with wrath,
29 and rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led him to the edge of the hill whereupon their city was built, to cast Him over.
30 But He passed through the midst of them, and went His way,
31 and came down into Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them there on the Sabbath days.
32 And they were astonished at His doctrine. For His Word was with authority.
33 And there was a man in the synagogue who had a spirit of an unclean demon, which cried with a loud voice,
34 saying, “Oh, what have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth?! Have You come to destroy us?! I know who You are - The Holy One of God!”
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet! And come out of him!” Then the demon, throwing him in the midst of them, came out of him and did not hurt him.
36 So fear came upon them all. And they spoke among themselves, saying, “What thing is this? For He commands the foul spirits with authority and power, and they come out!”
37 And His fame spread throughout all the places of the surrounding countryside.
38 And He rose up, and came out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever, and they required Him for her.
39 Then He stood over her and rebuked the fever. And it left her. And immediately she arose and ministered to them.
40 Now at sunset, all those who had sick of diverse diseases, brought them to Him. And He laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.
41 And demons also came out of many, crying, and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” But He rebuked them and did not allow them to say that they knew Him to be the Christ.
42 And when it was day, He departed and went forth into a desert place. And the people sought Him, and came to Him, and kept Him from leaving.
43 But He said to them, “Surely I must also preach the Kingdom of God to other cities. For that is why I was sent.”
44 And He preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
18 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, and said,
2 “When will you put an end to your words? Make us understand, and then we will speak.
3 “Why are we counted as beasts, and vile in your sight?
4 “You are as one who tears his soul in his anger. Shall the Earth be forsaken for your sake, or the rock removed from its place?
5 “Yea, the light of the wicked shall be quenched. And the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6 “The light shall be dark in his dwelling, and his candle shall be put out with him.
7 “The steps of his strength shall be restrained, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
8 “For he is taken in the net by his feet, and he walks upon the snares.
9 “The net shall take him by the heel, and the traps shall come upon him.
10 “A noose is laid for him on the ground, and a trap for him on the way.
11 “Fearfulness shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
12 “His strength shall be famine. And destruction shall be ready at his side.
13 “It shall devour the inner parts of his skin. The firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
14 “His hope shall be rooted out of his dwelling, and shall cause him to go to the king of fear.
15 “Fear shall dwell in his house (because it is not his). Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
16 “His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut down.
17 “His memory shall perish from the Earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
18 “They shall drive him out of the light into darkness and chase him out of the world.
19 “He shall have neither son nor nephew among his people, nor any posterity in his dwellings.
20 “Those who follow shall be astonished every day, and fear shall come upon the ancient.
21 “Surely such are the habitations of the wicked. And this is the place of him who does not know God.”
5 It is heard certainly that there is sexual immorality among you - and such immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles - that one should have his father’s wife.
2 And you are puffed up, and moreover have not mourned, that the one who has done this deed might be taken from among you.
3 For indeed, I, as being absent in body, but present in spirit, have determined already, as though I were present, that the one who has thus done this thing,
4 when you are gathered together - and my spirit, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ - that such one, by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 be delivered to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved on the Day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
7 Therefore, purge the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us.
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor in the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote to you in the epistle that you should not associate with the sexually immoral,
10 (that is not to say with the sexually immoral of this world, or with the covetous, or with swindlers, or with idolaters. For then you must go out of the world).
11 But now I have written to you that you do not associate if anyone who is called a “brother” is a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a verbal abuser, or a drunkard, or a swindler. With such a one do not even eat.
12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?
13 But God judges those who are outside. Therefore, cast out the wicked from among yourselves.
