Genesis 46

46 Then Israel took his journey, with all that he had, and came to Beersheba and offered sacrifice to the God of his father, Isaac.

And God spoke to Israel in a vision, by night, saying, “Jacob. Jacob.” Who answered, “I am here.”

Then he said, “I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down into Egypt. For I will make a great nation from you there.

“I will go down with you into Egypt; and I will also bring you up again. And Joseph shall put his hand upon your eyes.”

Then Jacob rose up from Beersheba. And the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, and their children and their wives, in the chariots which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

And they took their cattle and their goods which they had gotten in the land of Canaan and came into Egypt (Jacob and all his seed with him).

He brought his sons and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters and his sons’ daughters and all his seed with him, into Egypt.

And these are the names of the children of Israel who came into Egypt (Jacob and his sons). Reuben was Jacob’s firstborn.

And the sons of Reuben: Hanoch and Pallu and Hezron and Carmi.

10 And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin and Ohad and Jachin and Zohar and Shaul (the son of a Canaanite woman).

11 Also, the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

12 Also, the sons of Judah: Er and Onan and Shelah and Perez and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

13 Also, the sons of Issachar: Tola and Puvah and Job and Shimron.

14 Also, the sons of Zebulun: Sered and Elon and Jahleel.

15 These are the sons of Leah which she bore to Jacob in Padan Aram (along with his daughter, Dinah). All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.

16 Also, the sons of Gad: Ziphion and Haggi Shuni and Ezbon, Eri and Arodi and Areli.

17 Also, the sons of Asher: Jimnah and Ishuah and Isui and Beriah and Serah, their sister. And the sons of Beriah were Heber and Malchiel.

18 These are the children of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah, his daughter. And these she bore to Jacob (sixteen souls).

19 The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife were Joseph and Benjamin.

20 And in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim unto Joseph (whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah, prince of On, bore to him).

21 Also, the sons of Benjamin were Belah and Becher and Ashbel and Gera, Naaman, Ehi and Rosh, Muppim and Huppim and Ard.

22 These are the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob (fourteen souls in all).

23 Also, the son of Dan was Hushim.

24 Also, the sons of Naphtali were Jahzeel and Guni and Jezer and Shillem.

25 These are the sons of Bilhah which Laban gave to Rachel, his daughter; and she bore these to Jacob (seven souls in all).

26 All the souls who came with Jacob into Egypt, who came out of his loins (besides Jacob’s sons’ wives) were, on the whole, sixty-six souls.

27 Also, the sons of Joseph who were born to him in Egypt were two souls, making all the souls of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt, seventy.

28 Then, he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to direct his way to Goshen. And they came into the land of Goshen.

29 Then, Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet Israel, his father. And he presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept upon his neck for a long time.

30 And Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, and that you are still alive.”

31 Then, Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s house, “I will go up and show Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘My brothers and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, have come to me!

32 ‘And the men are shepherds, but their occupation has been to feed livestock. So, they have brought their flocks and herds and all that they have.’

33 “And if Pharaoh calls on you, and asks you, ‘What is your trade?’

34 you shall say, ‘Your servants are men occupied with livestock, from our childhood even to this time (both we and our fathers),’ so that you may dwell in the land of Goshen. For every sheepherder is an abomination to the Egyptians!”

Mark 16

16 And when the Sabbath day had passed, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought sweet ointments so that they might come and anoint Jesus.

Therefore, early in the morning, the first day of the week, they came to the sepulcher, when the Sun was now risen.

And they said to each other, “Who shall we have roll away the stone from the door of the sepulcher?”

But when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away (for it was a very great one).

So they went into the sepulcher and saw a young man sitting at the right side, clothed in a long white robe. And they were awestruck.

But he said to them, “Do not be so troubled. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, Who was crucified. He is risen. He is not here. Behold the place where they put Him.

“But go your way, and tell His disciples, and Peter, that He will go before you into Galilee. There you shall see Him, as He said to you.”

And they went out quickly and fled from the sepulcher. For they trembled and were amazed. Nor did they say anything to anyone, for they were afraid.

And when Jesus was risen again, early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene (out of whom He had cast seven demons).

10 And she went and told those who had been with Him, who mourned and wept.

11 And when they heard that He was alive, and had appeared to her, they did not believe it.

12 After that, He appeared to two of them in another form (as they walked and went into the country).

13 And they went and told it to the remnant. And they did not believe them.

14 Finally, He appeared to the eleven, as they sat together, and reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart; because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.

16 “The one who shall believe, and be baptized, shall be saved. But the one who will not believe, shall be damned.

17 “And these signs shall follow those who believe: In My Name, they shall cast out demons, and shall speak with new tongues,

18 “and shall take away serpents. And if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay their hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

19 So, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received into Heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.

20 And they went forth and preached everywhere. And the Lord worked with them and confirmed the Word with signs that followed. Amen.

Job 12

12 Then Job answered, and said,

“Truly, you are the people. Wisdom must die with you.

“But I have understanding as well as you and am not inferior to you. Yea, who does not know such things?

“I am as one mocked by his friends, who calls upon God and He hears him. The just and the upright are laughed to scorn.

“He who feels ready to fall is like a lamp, ridiculed in the thoughts of the careless.

“The tents of robbers prosper. And those who provoke God are in safety. God has enriched them with His Hand.

“Ask, now, the beasts and they shall teach you, and the birds of the heaven and they shall tell you.

“Or speak to the Earth and it shall show you, or the fish of the sea and they shall declare to you.

“Who among all these is ignorant that the Hand of the LORD has done this,

10 “in Whose Hand is the soul of every living thing and the breath of all mankind?

11 “Do not the ears discern the words and the mouth taste food for themselves?

12 “Wisdom is among the ancient, and understanding is in the length of days.

13 “With Him is wisdom and strength. He has counsel and understanding.

14 “Behold, He will break it down, and it cannot be built. He shuts a man up, and he cannot be loosed.

15 “Behold, He withholds the waters, and they dry up. But when He sends them out, they destroy the Earth.

16 “With Him is strength and wisdom. Both he who is deceived and who deceives are His.

17 “He leads the counselors away barefoot and makes the judges fools.

18 “He loosens the bonds of kings and girds their loins with a girdle.

19 “He leads away the princes as prey and overthrows the mighty.

20 “He takes away the speech from the faithful and takes away the judgment of the ancient.

21 “He pours contempt upon princes and makes the strength of the mighty weak.

22 “He discovers the deep places from darkness and brings forth the shadow of death to light.

23 “He increases the people and destroys them. He enlarges the nations and brings them in again.

24 “He takes away the hearts of the leaders of the people of the Earth and makes them wander in the wilderness, out of the way.

25 “They grope in the dark without light. And He makes them stagger like a drunken man.

Romans 16

16 I commend to you Phoebe, our sister, who is a servant of the Church of Cenchrea;

that you receive her in the Lord (as it becomes Saints) and that you assist her in whatever matter she has need of you. For she has given hospitality to many, and to me also.

Greet Priscilla, and Aquila, my fellow helpers in Christ Jesus.

(who have laid down their own neck for my life; unto whom not I only give thanks, but also all the Churches of the Gentiles.)

Likewise, greet the Church that is in their house. Salute my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia in Christ.

Greet Mary, who has worked hard for us.

Salute Andronicus and Junia, my cousins and fellow prisoners, who are notable among the Apostles, and were in Christ before me.

Greet Amplias, my beloved in the Lord.

Salute Urbanus, our fellow helper in Christ; and Stachys, my beloved.

10 Salute Apelles, approved in Christ. Salute those who are Aristobulus’ friends.

11 Salute Herodion, my kinsman. Greet those friends of Narcissus who are in the Lord.

12 Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, women who labor in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, a woman who works hard in the Lord.

13 Salute Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother. And mine.

14 Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Mercurius, and the brothers who are with them.

15 Salute Philologus and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the Saints who are with them.

16 Salute one another with a holy kiss. The Churches of Christ salute you.

17 Now I urge you, brothers, mark carefully those who cause division and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them.

18 For such as they do not serve the Lord Jesus Christ, but their own bellies; and deceive the hearts of the simple with fair speech and flattering.

19 For your obedience has spread among all. Therefore, I am glad for you. But yet, I wish you to be wise to that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

20 The God of peace shall tread Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

21 Timothy, my helper, and Lucius and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.

22 I Tertius, who wrote out this Epistle, salute you in the Lord.

23 Gaius, my host, and of the whole Church, salutes you. Erastus, the steward of the city, salutes you; and Quartus, a brother.

24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen.

25 Now, to Him Who is able to establish you according to my Gospel (and to the preaching of Jesus Christ) by the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began

26 (but now, at the Commandment of the everlasting God, is made visible and known among all nations by the Scriptures of the Prophets, for the obedience of faith);

27 to God, only wise, be praise, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen.

(Written to the Romans from Corinth, and sent by Phoebe, servant of the church which is at Cenchrea.)
