Genesis 40

40 And after these things, the butler of the King of Egypt and his baker offended their Lord, the King of Egypt.

And Pharaoh was angry against his two officers: against the chief butler and against the chief baker.

Therefore, he put them in ward in his chief steward’s house, in the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

And the chief steward gave Joseph charge over them; and he served them. And they continued in ward for a season.

And they both dreamed a dream, each of them dreaming in one night, each dream having its own interpretation, both the butler and the baker of the King of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

And when Joseph came in to them in the morning, and looked upon them, behold, they were sad.

And he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in his master’s ward, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”

Who answered him, “We have each dreamed a dream; and there is no one to interpret it.” Then Joseph said to them, “Are not interpretations from God? Tell them to me now.”

So the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was before me.

10 “And in the vine were three branches. And as it budded, her flower came forth; and the clusters of grapes grew ripe.

11 “And I had Pharaoh’s cup in my hand; and I took the grapes and wrung them into Pharaoh’s cup. And I put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.”

12 Then Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it. The three branches are three days.

13 “Within three days, Pharaoh shall lift up your head and restore you to your office. And you shall put Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, as you used to do when you were his butler.

14 “But, remember me when you are restored; and please show mercy to me and mention me to Pharaoh, so that you may bring me out of this house.”

15 “For I was stolen away, by theft, out of the land of the Hebrews; and here, also, I have done nothing that should cause them to put me in the dungeon.”

16 And when the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “Also, I thought in my dream that I had three white baskets on my head.

17 “And in the uppermost basket there were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh. And the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.”

18 Then Joseph answered, and said, “This is the interpretation of it. The three baskets are three days.

19 “Within three days, Pharaoh shall take your head from you, and shall hang you on a tree; and the birds shall eat your flesh from off you.”

20 And so, the third day (Pharaoh’s birthday), he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief butler, and the chief baker, among his servants.

21 And he restored the chief butler to his butlership, who placed the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.

22 But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23 Yet, the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

Mark 10

10 And He arose from there and went into the coasts of Judea, by the far side of Jordan. And the people gathered around Him again. And as usual, He taught them.

Then the Pharisees came and asked Him if it were lawful for a man to divorce his wife, and tempted Him.

And He answered, and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”

And they said, “Moses permitted to write a Bill of Divorcement, and to divorce her.”

“Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “He wrote this precept to you because of the hardness of your heart.

“But at the beginning of the Creation, ‘God made them male and female.’

“‘For this cause shall man leave his father and mother, and cling to his wife.

“‘And the two shall be one flesh.’ So that they are no more two, but one flesh.

“Therefore, what God has coupled together, let not man separate.”

10 And in the house, His disciples asked Him about that matter again.

11 And He said to them,“Whoever shall divorce his wife and marry another, commits adultery against her.

12 “And if a woman divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery.”

13 Then they brought little children to Him, so He could touch them. And His disciples rebuked those who brought them.

14 But when Jesus saw it, He was displeased and said to them, “Let the little children to come to Me. And do not forbid them. For of such is the Kingdom of God.

15 “Truly I say to you, whoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter therein.”

16 And He took them up in His arms and put His hands upon them and blessed them.

17 And when He had gone on His way, someone came running and kneeled to Him and asked Him, “Good Master, what must I do so that I may possess eternal life?”

18 Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? There is no one good but One, even God.

19 “You know the Commandments: You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall hurt no man. Honor your father and mother.

20 Then he answered, and said to Him, “Master, all these things I have observed from my youth.”

21 And Jesus looked upon him and loved him and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go and sell all that you have. And give to the poor. And you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me. And take up the Cross.

22 But he was sad at that saying and went away sorrowful. For he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!”

24 And His disciples were afraid at His Words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

26 And they were much more astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”

27 But Jesus looked upon them, and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For with God, all things are possible.”

28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “Lo, we have forsaken all, and have followed You.”

29 Jesus answered, and said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has forsaken house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for My sake and the Gospels,

30 who shall not receive a hundredfold - now presently - houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands (with persecutions) and in the world to come, eternal life.

31 “But many who are first, shall be last; and the last, first.”

32 And as they were going up to Jerusalem, Jesus went before them. And they were troubled. And as they followed, they were afraid. And Jesus took the twelve again and began to tell them what things would happen to Him,

33 saying, “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. And they shall condemn Him to death and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles.

34 “And they shall mock Him and scourge Him and spit upon Him and kill Him. But the third day, He shall rise again.”

35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Master, we ask that You would do for us that which we desire.”

36 And He said to them, “What would that be?”

37 And they said to Him, “Grant to us that we may sit - one at Your right hand, and the other at Your left hand - in Your Glory.

38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Can you drink of the same cup as Me, and be baptized with the same baptism?”

39 And they said to Him, “We can.” But Jesus said to them, “You shall indeed drink of the same cup, and be baptized with the same baptism.

40 “But to sit at My right hand and at My left is not Mine to give. But rather, it shall be given to those for whom it is prepared.”

41 And when the other ten heard that, they began to be angry about James and John.

42 But Jesus called them to Him, and said to them, “You know that those who are princes among the Gentiles, have dominion over them. And those who are great among them exercise authority over them.

43 “But it shall not be so among you. For whoever desires to be great among you shall be your servant.

44 “And whoever desires to be your leader shall be the servant of all.

45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve; and to give His life for the ransom of many.”

46 Then they came to Jericho. And as He went out of Jericho with His disciples (and a great multitude), Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind man, sat by the wayside, begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry and say, “Jesus! The Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

48 And many rebuked him and told him to be quiet. But he cried much more, “O, Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

49 Then Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer! Arise, He calls you.”

50 So he threw off his cloak and rose and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered, and said to him, “What would you have Me do for you?” And the blind said to Him, “Lord, that I may receive sight.”

52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your faith has saved you.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the way.

Job 6

But Job answered and said,

“Oh that my grief was well-weighed, and that my miseries were laid with it on the scale!

“For it would now be heavier than the sand of the sea. Therefore, my words have been rash.

“For the arrows of the Almighty are in me. My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God fight against me.

“Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? Or does the ox bellow when he has fodder?

“That which is unsavory, shall it be eaten without salt? Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

“Such things my soul refused to touch, like food that made me ill.

“Oh that I might have my desire, and that God would grant me the thing that I long for:

“that is, that God would destroy me, that He would let His Hand go and cut me off.

10 “Then I would still have comfort (though I burn with sorrow, Him not sparing) because I have not denied the Words of the Holy One.

11 “What strength do I have, that I should hope? Or what is my end if I should prolong my life?

12 “Is my strength the strength of stones? Is my flesh of bronze?

13 “Is it not so, that there is no help in me, and that strength is taken from me?

14 “He who is in misery ought to be comforted by his neighbor. But men have forsaken the fear of the Almighty.

15 “My brothers have deceived me as a brook. As the rising of the rivers, they pass away,

16 “which are black with ice and wherein the snow is hidden.

17 “But in time they are dried up with heat and are consumed. And when it is hot, they vanish from their places.

18 “They depart from their way and course. They vanish and perish.

19 “Those who went to Tema, considered them. Those who went to Sheba, waited for them.

20 “They were confounded. When they were confident, they came there and were embarrassed.

21 “Surely, now, you are like that. You have seen my fearful plague and are afraid.

22 “Did I say, ‘Bring to me,’ or ‘Give a reward to me from your substance,’

23 “or ‘Deliver me from the enemy’s hand,’ or ‘Ransom me out of the hand of tyrants?’

24 “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue. And cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

25 “How steadfast are the words of righteousness! And what can any of you justly prove?

26 “Do you plan to reprove words, so that the talk of the afflicted should be as the wind?

27 “You make your wrath fall upon the fatherless, and dig a pit for your friend.

28 “Now, therefore, be content to look at me. For I will not lie to your face.

29 “Relent, please. Let there be no iniquity. Relent, I say, and you shall still see my righteousness. Is there iniquity on my tongue? Does not my mouth discern desire?”

Romans 10

10 Brothers, my heart’s desire - and my prayer to God for Israel - is that they might be saved.

For I testify about them that they have the zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

For they, being ignorant of the righteousness of God and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness, for everyone who believes.

For Moses writes of the righteousness which is of the Law: “The man who does these things, shall live thereby.”

But the righteousness which is of faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who shall ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down)

or, ‘Who shall descend into the deep?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)”.

So, what does it say? “The Word is near you; your mouth, and in your heart.” This is the Word of faith which we preach.

For if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you shall be saved.

10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.

11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him, shall not be ashamed.”

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek. For He Who is Lord Over All is rich unto all who call on Him.

13 For “Whoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord, shall be saved.”

14 But how shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of peace; and bring glad tidings of good things!”

16 But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

17 Then faith is by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

18 But I say, have they not heard? No doubt. Their sound went out through all the Earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

19 But I say, did not Israel know? First Moses says: “I will provoke you to envy by a nation that is not my nation. And by a foolish nation I will anger you.”

20 And Isaiah is bold and says: “I was found by those who did not seek Me, and have been made manifest to those who did not ask for me.”

21 And to Israel he says, “All day long I have stretched forth My hands to a disobedient and contradicting people.”
