M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
15 After these things, the Word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not fear, Abram. I am your Buckler, your exceedingly great Reward.”
2 And Abram said, “O LORD God, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?”
3 Also, Abram said, “Behold, You have given me no seed. Therefore, lo, a servant of my house shall be my heir.”
4 Then behold, the Word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This man shall not be your heir. But one who shall come from your own loins, he shall be your heir.”
5 Moreover, He brought him forth and said, “Look up to Heaven now and tell the stars if you are able to number them.” And he said to him, “So shall your seed be.”
6 And Abram believed the LORD; and He counted that to him for righteousness.
7 Again, He said to him, “I am the LORD; Who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land, to inherit it.”
8 And he said, “O LORD God, how shall I know that I shall inherit it?”
9 Then He said to him, “Bring me a heifer of three years old, and a female goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, also a turtle dove and a pigeon.”
10 So he brought all these to Him, and cut them down the middle, and laid every piece opposite each other. But He did not divide the birds.
11 Then birds of prey fell on the carcasses; and Abram drove them away.
12 And when the Sun went down, Abram fell into a heavy sleep. And lo, a very fearful darkness fell upon him.
13 Then He said to Abram, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs and shall serve them. And they shall afflict them.
14 “Notwithstanding, I will judge the nation whom they shall serve. And afterward, they shall come out with great possessions.
15 “But you shall go to your fathers in peace and shall be buried at an old age.
16 “And in the fourth generation they shall come here again, for the wickedness of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
17 Also, when the Sun went down, there was a darkness. And behold, a smoking furnace and a firebrand, which went between those pieces.
18 On that same day, the LORD made a Covenant with Abram, saying, “To your seed I have given this land—from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates—
19 “the Kenites and the Kenezzites and the Kadmonites
20 “and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Rephaims,
21 “also the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”
14 At that time, Herod the Tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
2 and said to his servants, “This is that John Baptist! He has risen again from the dead! And therefore, great works are done by him!”
3 For Herod had taken John and bound him, and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
4 For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.
6 But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 Therefore, he promised with an oath that he would give her whatever she would ask.
8 And she (having already been instructed by her mother) said, “Give me John Baptist’s head here, on a platter.”
9 And the king was sorry. Nevertheless, because of the oath, and those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given to her;
10 and sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
11 And his head was brought, on a platter, and given to the maid. And she brought it to her mother.
12 And his disciples came and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
13 And when Jesus heard it, He departed from there by ship into a desert place, alone. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed Him out of the cities on foot.
14 And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them. And He healed their sick.
15 And when evening had come, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a desert place. And the time is already late. Dismiss the multitude, so that they may go into the towns and buy food.
16 But Jesus said to them, “They have no need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 Then said they to Him, “We have here only five loaves, and two fishes.”
18 And He said, “Bring them here to Me.”
19 And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to Heaven, and blessed and broke, and gave the loaves to His disciples. And the disciples gave them to the multitude.
20 And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
21 And those who had eaten (besides women and little children) were about five thousand men.
22 And immediately Jesus compelled His disciples to enter into a ship. And to go over ahead of Him, while He sent away the multitude.
23 And as soon as He had sent the multitude away, He went up into a mountain alone, to pray. And when the evening had come, He was there alone.
24 And the ship was now in the midst of the sea and was tossed with the waves. For it was a contrary wind.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.
26 And when His disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a spirit!” And they cried out for fear.
27 But immediately, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good comfort! It is I! Do not be afraid!”
28 Then Peter answered Him, and said, “Master, if it is You, ask me to come to You on the water!”
29 And He said, “Come!” And when Peter had come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the mighty wind, he was afraid. And as he began to sink, he cried, saying, “Master! Save me!”
31 So immediately, Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith. Why did you doubt?
32 And as soon as they had come up into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then those who were in the ship, came and worshipped Him, saying, “Truly, You are the Son of God!”
34 And when they had come over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
35 And when the men of that place knew Him, they sent word out around all that country, and brought to Him all who were sick;
36 and begged Him, that they might touch merely the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made whole.
4 But when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry and very grieved and mocked the Jews
2 and spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these weak Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish it in a day? Will they make the stones whole again out of the heaps of dust, seeing they are burnt?”
3 And Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and said, “Although they build, even if a fox goes up on it, yet he shall break down their stony wall!”
4 Hear, O our God, for we are despised! And turn their shame upon their own heads and give them to a prey in the land of their captivity.
5 And do not cover their iniquity or let their sin be put out in Your presence. For they have provoked us before the builders.
6 So, we built the wall. And the whole wall was joined to its half. And the heart of the people was to work.
7 But when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabians and the Ammonite, and the Ashdodims heard that the walls of Jerusalem had been repaired (for the breaches began to be stopped), then they were very angry
8 and conspired together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder them.
9 Then we prayed to our God. And because of them we set watchmen against them, day and night.
10 And Judah said, “The strength of the bearers has weakened. And there is much earth, so that we are not able to build the wall.”
11 Also, our adversaries had said, “They shall neither know nor see until we come into the midst of them, and kill them, and cause the work to cease.”
12 But when the Jews who dwelt beside them came, they told us ten times, “From all places where you shall return, they will be upon us.”
13 Therefore I stationed men in the lower places, behind the wall, upon the tops of the stones, and placed the people by their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
14 Then I beheld, and rose up, and said to the princes and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them! Remember the great and fearful LORD! And fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses!”
15 And when our enemies heard that it was known to us, then God brought their plans to nothing. And we all turned to the wall again, each one to his work.
16 And from that day, half of the young men did the labor, and the other half of them held the spears, and shields, and bows, and armor. And the rulers stood behind the whole House of Judah,
17 those who built on the wall and those who bore burdens. Those who loaded did the work with one hand and held the sword with the other.
18 For every one of the builders had his sword girded on his loins and built. And he who blew the trumpet was beside me.
19 Then I said to the princes and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, “The work is great and large! And we are separated upon the wall, one far from another!
20 “In whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, return from there to us! Our God shall fight for us!”
21 So we labored in the work. And half of them held the spears, from the appearance of the morning until the stars came forth.
22 And at the same time, I said to the people, “Let everyone lodge with his servant within Jerusalem, so that they may be a watch for us in the night and labor in the day.”
23 So, neither I nor my brethren nor my servants nor the men of the ward who followed me (none of us) took off our clothes, except when everyone took them off for washing.
14 And it so happened in Iconium that they went together into the synagogue of the Jews and spoke, so that a great multitude of both the Jews and the Hellenists believed.
2 And the unbelieving Jews stirred up and corrupted the minds of the Gentiles against the brothers.
3 So therefore they stayed there a long time, and spoke boldly in the Lord, Who gave testimony to the Word of His grace, and caused signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 But the multitude of the city was divided. And some were with the Jews, and some with the Apostles.
5 And when a violent attempt to stone them was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers,
6 they were made aware of it, and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region,
7 and preached the Gospel there.
8 Now there sat a certain man at Lystra, without strength in his feet, who had been a cripple from his mother’s womb, and had never walked.
9 He heard Paul speak - who, looking at him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” - And he leaped up and walked.
11 Then, when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, “Gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”
12 And they called Barnabas ‘Zeus’, and Paul ‘Hermes’, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Then the priest of Zeus, who dwelt in front of their city, brought bulls with garlands to the gates, and would have sacrificed with the people.
14 But when the Apostles Barnabas and Paul heard it, they tore their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying,
15 and saying, “O men, why do you do these things!? We are just men, subject to the same passions that you are. And we preach to you that you should turn from these meaningless things, to the living God; Who made Heaven and Earth, and the sea, and all things in them!
16 “Who in times past allowed all the Gentiles to walk in their own ways.
17 “Nevertheless, He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from the heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
18 And, speaking these things, they scarcely restrained the multitude from sacrificing to them.
19 Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium who - when they had persuaded the people - stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing he was dead.
20 But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and came into the city. And the next day he left for Derbe with Barnabas.
21 And after they had preached the glad tidings of the Gospel to that city (and had taught many) they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,
22 confirming the disciples’ hearts and exhorting them to continue in the faith that we must enter into the Kingdom of God through many afflictions.
23 And when they had prayed and fasted and ordained them as elders by election in every church, they commended them to the Lord in Whom they believed.
24 Thus they went throughout Pisidia and came to Pamphylia.
25 And when they had preached the Word in Perga, they came down to Attalia,
26 And from there sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.
27 And when they had come and gathered the church together, they recounted all the things which God had done through them, and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
28 So they stayed there with the disciples a long time.
