M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
14 And it happened that in the days of Amraphel (King of Shinar), Arioch (King of Ellasar), Chedorlaomer (King of Elam), and Tidal (King of the Nations),
2 they made war with Bera (King of Sodom) and with Birsha (King of Gomorrah), Shinab (King of Admah), and Shemeber (King of Zeboiim), and the King of Bela (which is Zoar).
3 All these joined together in the valley of Siddim (which is the Salt Sea).
4 They were subject to Chedorlaomer for twelve years; but in the thirteenth year, they rebelled.
5 And in the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer came (and the kings who were with him) and struck the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6 and the Horites on their Mount Seir, to the plain of El Paran (which is by the wilderness).
7 And they returned and came to En Mishpat (which is Kadesh) and struck all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelled in Hazezon Tamar.
8 Then, the King of Sodom went out, and the King of Gomorrah, and the King of Admah, and the King of Zeboiim, and the King of Bela (which is Zoar); and they joined battle with them in the valley of Siddim
9 —that is, with Chedorlaomer (King of Elam), and Tidal (King of Nations), and Amraphel (King of Shinar), and Arioch (King of Ellasar) — four kings against five.
10 Now, the valley of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the Kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there. And the residue fled to the mountain.
11 And they took all the substance of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their supplies, and went their way.
12 They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, and his substance (for he dwelt at Sodom) and departed.
13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who dwelt on the plain of Mamre the Amorite (brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, who were allies of Abram).
14 When Abram heard that his brother was taken, he brought forth three hundred and eighteen of those who were born and brought up in his own house and pursued them to Dan.
15 Then he and his servants divided themselves against them at night, and struck them, and pursued them to Hobah (which is on the left side of Damascus).
16 And he recovered all the substance, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, and also the women and the people.
17 After he returned from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings who were with him, the King of Sodom came forth to meet him in the valley of Shaveh (which is the King’s dale).
18 And Melchizedek, King of Salem, brought forth bread and wine; and he was a Priest of the Most High God.
19 Therefore, he blessed him, saying, “Abram, you are blessed of God Most High, Possessor of Heaven and Earth.
20 “And blessed be the Most High God, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And Abram gave him tithes of all.
21 Then, the King of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the souls, and take the goods for yourself.”
22 “And Abram said to the King of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to the LORD, the Most High God, Possessor of Heaven and Earth,
23 “so that I will not take all that is yours, from thread to shoe latchet (lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’),
24 “except that which the young men have eaten and the portions of the men which went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their parts.”
13 The same day, Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the seaside.
2 And great multitudes gathered to Him, so that He went into a ship and sat down. And the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, a sower went out to sow.
4 “And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside. And the birds came and devoured them.
5 “And some fell upon stony ground, where they did not have much earth. And soon they sprang up, because they had no depth of earth.
6 “But when the Sun came up, they were burnt up; and for lack of rooting, withered away.
7 “And some fell among thorns. And the thorns sprang up and choked them.
8 But some fell in good ground, and brought forth fruit; one corn a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and another thirtyfold.
9 “The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
10 Then the disciples came, and said to Him, “Why did You speak to them in parables?”
11 And He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven. But to them it is not given.
12 “For whoever has, to him shall be given. And he shall have abundance. But whoever does not have, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.
13 “Therefore, I speak to them in parables. Because they, seeing, do not see. And hearing, they do not hear, nor understand.
14 “So in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled which says, ‘By hearing you shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing, you shall see and shall not perceive.
15 “‘For this people’s heart has grown fat and their ears barely hear and they have closed their eyes, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and should understand with their hearts and should return, that I might heal them.’
16 “But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.
17 “For truly I say to you that many Prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which you see and have not seen them; and to hear those things which you hear and have not heard them.
18 “Therefore, hear the parable of the Sower.
19 “Whenever anyone hears the Word of the Kingdom, and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away that which was sown in his heart. And this is the one who has received the seed by the wayside.
20 “And the one who received seed in the stony ground, is he who hears the Word, and immediately, with joy, receives it,
21 “but he has no root in himself and endures but a season. For as soon as trouble or persecution comes because of the Word, he quickly stumbles.
22 “And the one who receives the seed among thorns, is he who hears the Word, but the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word. And it is made unfruitful.
23 “But the one who receives the seed in the good ground, is he who hears the Word and understands it, who also bears fruit and brings forth; some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.”
24 He put forth another parable to them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25 “But while the man slept, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went his way.
26 “And when the blade had sprung up and brought forth fruit, the weeds also appeared.
27 “Then the servants of the landowner came, and said to him, ‘Master, did not you sow good seed in your field? From where have these weeds come?’
28 “And he said to them, ‘Some envious man has done this.’ Then the servants said to him, ‘Do you wish us to go and gather them up?’
29 “But he said, ‘No, lest while you are gathering the weeds you also pluck up the wheat with them.
30 “‘Let both grow together until the harvest. And at harvest time I will say to the reapers, “First, gather the weeds, and bind them in sheaves to burn them. But gather the wheat into my barn.”’”
31 He put forth another parable to them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man takes and sows in his field,
32 “which indeed is the least of all seeds. But when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs. And it becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and build in its branches.”
33 He spoke another parable to them, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till all was leavened.”
34 Jesus spoke all these things to the multitude in parables. And He did not speak to them without parables.
35 So that which was spoken by the Prophet might be fulfilled, which says, “I will open my mouth in parables, and will utter the things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of that field.”
37 Then He answered, and said to them, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
38 “And the field is the world. And the good seed are the children of the Kingdom. And the weeds are the children of the evil one.
39 “And the enemy who sows them is the devil. And the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels.
40 “Just as the weeds are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be at the end of this world.
41 “The Son of Man shall send forth His angels. And they shall gather all stumbling blocks out of His Kingdom, and those who do iniquity,
42 “and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 “Then shall the just shine as the Sun in the Kingdom of their Father. The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.
44 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure, hidden in the field. Which, when a man has found, he hides it. And for joy thereof, departs and sells all that he has, and buys that field.
45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant man who seeks good pearls,
46 “Who, having found a pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
47 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a draw net, cast into the sea, which gathers of all kinds of things;
48 “which, when it is full, they draw to land, and sit and gather the good into vessels, and cast away the bad.
49 “So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go forth, and separate the bad from among the just;
50 “and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
51 Jesus said to them, “Do you understand all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
52 Then He said to them, “Therefore, every scribe who is taught about the Kingdom of Heaven is like a landowner who brings forth, out of his treasure, things both new and old.”
53 And it happened that when Jesus had ended these parables, He departed from there,
54 and came into His own country, and taught them in their synagogue (so that they were astonished, and said, “From where does this wisdom and these great works come to this man?”
55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 “And are not his sisters all with us? From where, then, did he get all these things?”).
57 And they were offended by Him. Then Jesus said to them, “A Prophet is not without honor, except in His own country and in His own house.”
58 And He did not do many great works there, because of their unbelief.
3 Then Eliashib, the High Priest, arose with his brethren, the priests. And they built the Sheep Gate. They repaired it and set up its doors. They repaired it up to the Tower of Meah, and to the Tower of Hananel.
2 And the men of Jericho built next to him. And Zaccur, the son of Imri, was beside him.
3 But the sons of Senaah built the fish port. They also laid its beams and hung its doors, with its locks and its bars.
4 And Meremoth, the son of Urijah, the son of Koz, fortified next to them. And Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel fortified next to them. And Zadok, the son of Baana, fortified next to them.
5 And the Tekoites fortified next to them. But the great men of them did not put their necks to the works of their lords.
6 And Jehoiada, the son of Paseah, and Meshullam, the son of Besodeiah, fortified the gate of the old fish pool. They laid its beams and hung its doors, with its locks and its bars.
7 Next to them, Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon and Mizpah, also fortified the throne of the duke beyond the River.
8 Next to him, Uzziel the son of Harhaiah of the goldsmiths fortified. Next to him, Hananiah the son of Harakkahim also fortified. And they repaired Jerusalem to the broad wall.
9 Also next to them, Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of half of Jerusalem, fortified.
10 And next to him, Jedaiah the son of Harumaph fortified in front of his house. And next to him, Hattush the son of Hashabniah fortified.
11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath-Moab, fortified the second portion and the tower of the furnaces.
12 Next to him, Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half of Jerusalem also fortified, he and his daughters.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah fortified the Valley Gate. They built it and hung its doors, with its locks and bars, a thousand cubits on the wall to the dung port.
14 But, Malchijah the son of Rechab, the ruler of one fourth of Beth Haccarem fortified the dung port. He built it and hung its doors, with its locks and bars.
15 But, Shallun the son of Col-Hozeh, the ruler of one fourth of Mizpah, fortified the Gate of the Fountain. He built it and covered it and hung its doors, with its locks and bars. And he built the wall to the fish pool of Shelah by the king’s garden, and to the steps that go down from the City of David.
16 After him, Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of half of Beth Zur, fortified until the other side, opposite the sepulchers of David, and to the fish pool that was repaired, and to the house of the mighty.
17 After him, the Levites fortified: Rehum, the son of Bani, and next to him was Hashabiah, the ruler of half of Keilah, in his quarter.
18 After him their brethren fortified: Bavai, the son of Henadad, the ruler of half of Keilah,
19 and next to him was Ezer, the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, who fortified the other portion opposite the going up to the corner of the armor.
20 After him was earnest Baruch, the son of Zabbai, who fortified another portion from the corner to the door of the house of Eliashib, the High Priest.
21 After him, Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz, fortified another portion, from the door of the house of Eliashib, as long as the house of Eliashib extended.
22 After him, the priests (the men of the plain) also fortified.
23 After them, Benjamin and Hasshub fortified in front of their house. After them, Azariah the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, fortified by his house.
24 After him, Binnui, the son of Henadad, fortified another portion from the house of Azariah to the turning and to the corner.
25 Palal, the son of Uzai, fortified from opposite the corner, and the high tower that lies out from the king’s house, which is beside the court of the prison. After him, Pedaiah the son of Parosh fortified.
26 And the Nethinim dwelt in the fortress to the place in front of the water gate, eastward, and to the tower that lies out.
27 After him, the Tekoites fortified another portion in front of the great tower that lies out to the wall of the fortress.
28 The priests fortified from beyond the Horse Gate, each one in front of his house.
29 After them, Zadok, the son of Immer, fortified in front of his house. And after him, Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the East Gate, fortified.
30 After him, Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the son of Zalaph, (the sixth), fortified another portion. After him, Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, fortified in front of his chamber.
31 After him, Malchijah the goldsmith’s son fortified until the house of the Nethinim and of the Merchants, in front of the gate Miphkad, and to the chamber in the corner.
32 And the goldsmiths and the merchants fortified between the chamber of the corner to the Sheep Gate.
13 Now in the church that was in Antioch, there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas and Simeon (called Niger), and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the Tetrarch) and Saul.
2 Now as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
3 Then they fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, and let them go.
4 And after they were sent forth by the Holy Ghost, they came down to Seleucia. And from there they sailed to Cyprus.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they also had John as their attendant.
6 So after they had gone through the island, to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer (a false prophet, a Jew) named Bar-Jesus,
7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. He called Barnabas and Saul to him and asked to hear the Word of God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for such is the meaning of his name) opposed them and sought to turn the proconsul away from the faith.
9 Then Saul (who is also called Paul) being full of the Holy Ghost, stared at him,
10 and said, “O, child of the devil, the enemy of all righteousness, full of all subtlety and all mischief! Will you not cease to pervert the straight ways of the Lord?!
11 “Now, therefore, behold the hand of the Lord upon you! And you shall be blind, not seeing the Sun for a time!” And immediately a mist and a darkness fell on him. And he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
12 Then the proconsul, when he saw what had been done, believed, and was astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
13 Now when Paul and those who were with him had departed by ship from Paphos, they came to Perga of Pamphylia. Then John left them and returned to Jerusalem.
14 But when they left Perga, they came to Antioch of Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down.
15 And after the reading of the Law and Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent word to them, saying, “Men, brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, speak.”
16 Then Paul stood up and beckoned with the hand, and said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, hear me!
17 “The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers and exalted the people when they dwelt in the land of Egypt. And with a high arm, He brought them out of there.
18 “And for about forty years, He endured their manners in the wilderness.
19 “And He destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan and divided their land to them by lot.
20 “Then afterward, He gave them Judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until the time of Samuel the Prophet.
21 “So after that, they desired a King. And God gave them Saul (the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin) for forty years.
22 “And after He had taken him away, he raised up David to be their King. Of whom He testified, saying, ‘I have found David of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all things that I will.
23 “Of this man’s seed, God has raised up the Savior Jesus, according to His promise to Israel.
24 “Before His coming, John had first preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25 “And when John had fulfilled his course, he said, ‘Whom do you think that I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, whose shoe of His feet I am not worthy to untie.’
26 “Men, brothers, children of the generation of Abraham, and whoever among you fears God, to you is the Word of this salvation sent.
27 “For the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their rulers - because they did not know Him, or even the words of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath - have fulfilled them in condemning Him.
28 “And even though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to kill Him.
29 “And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of Him, they took Him down from the tree, and put Him in a sepulcher.
30 “But God raised Him up from the dead.
31 “And He was seen by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem (who are his witnesses to the people) for many days.
32 “And we declare to you concerning the promise made to the fathers:
33 “that God has fulfilled it to us, their children, in that He raised up Jesus; even as it is written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son. This day have I begotten You.’
34 “And considering that He raised Him up from the dead, to return no more to decay, He has said this, ‘I will give you the holy things of David, which are faithful.’
35 “Therefore He also says in another place, ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see decay.’
36 “For David - after he had served his time, by the counsel of God - slept, and was laid with his fathers, and saw decay.
37 “But He Whom God raised up, saw no decay.
38 “Therefore, be it known to you, brothers, that the forgiveness of sins is preached to you through this Man.
39 “And by Him, everyone who believes is justified from all things which the Law of Moses could not justify.
40 “Therefore beware, so that that which is spoken of in the Prophets does not come upon you:
41 ‘Behold, you despisers, and wonder, and vanish away. For I work a work in your days; a work which you shall not believe, if one should declare it you.’”
42 And when they had come out of the synagogue of the Jews, the Gentiles begged them to preach these words to them the next Sabbath.
43 Now, after the congregation had dispersed, many of the Jews (and proselytes who feared God) followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and encouraged them to continue in the grace of God.
44 And the next Sabbath, almost the whole city came together to hear the Word of God.
45 But when the Jews saw the people, they were full of envy. And contradicting and blaspheming, they spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly, and said, “It was necessary that the Word of God should have been spoken first to you. But seeing you reject it - and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life - lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
47 “For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, “I have made you a light of the Gentiles, so that you should be for salvation to the end of the world.”
48 And when the Gentiles heard it, they were glad, and glorified the Word of the Lord. And as many as were appointed to eternal life, believed.
49 Thus, the Word of the Lord was spread throughout the whole country.
50 But the Jews stirred up devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their region.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them and came to Iconium.
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
