M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
12 For the LORD had said to Abram, “Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.
2 “And I will make a great nation from you, and will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.
3 “I will also bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; and in you shall all families of the Earth be blessed.”
4 So, Abram departed, just as the LORD instructed him; and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
5 Then, Abram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother’s son, and all their substance that they possessed, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. And they came to the land of Canaan.
6 So, Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, and to the plain of Moreh (and the Canaanite was in the land then).
7 And the LORD appeared to Abram, and said, “To your seed will I give this land.” And there he built an altar to the LORD Who had appeared to him.
8 Afterward, leaving there for the mountain east of Bethel, he pitched his tent (having Bethel on the West side and Ai on the east). And there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the Name of the LORD.
9 Again, Abram went forth, going and journeying toward the south.
10 Then there came a famine in the land. Therefore, Abram went down into Egypt, to sojourn there; for there was a great famine in the land.
11 And when he drew near to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “Behold, now, I know that you are a fair woman to look upon.
12 “Therefore, it will happen that when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘She is his wife.’ So, they will kill me, but they will keep you alive.
13 “Say, I implore you, that you are my sister; so that I may fare well because of you, and that my life may be preserved by you.”
14 Now, when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians looked at the woman (for she was very fair).
15 And the Princes of Pharaoh saw her and told Pharaoh about her. So, the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
16 Who treated Abram well for her sake; and he had sheep and oxen and male donkeys, and menservants and maidservants and female donkeys and camels.
17 But the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues, because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.
18 Then Pharaoh called Abram, and said, “Why have you done this to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
19 “Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I would take her to be my wife? Now, therefore, here is your wife. Take her and go your way.”
20 And Pharaoh gave men a commandment concerning him; and they sent him forth and his wife and all that he had.
11 And it happened that when Jesus had finished commanding His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 And when John (who was in the prison) heard of the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said to Him,
3 “Are You Him Who should come? Or shall we look for another?”
4 And Jesus, answering, said to them, “Go, and show John what things you hear and see.
5 “The blind receive sight. And the lame walk. The lepers are cleansed. And the deaf hear. The dead are raised up. And the poor receive the Gospel.
6 “And blessed is he who shall not be offended by Me.”
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to speak to the multitude about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see - a reed shaken with the wind?
8 “But what did you go out to see - a man wearing soft clothes? Behold, those who wear soft clothes are in kings’ houses.
9 “But what did you go out to see - a Prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a Prophet.
10 “For this is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who shall prepare Your way before You.’
11 “Truly I say to you, among those who are begotten of women, there has not arisen a greater than John Baptist. Even so, the least in the Kingdom of Heaven, is greater than he.
12 “And from the time of John Baptist until now, the Kingdom of God suffers violence. And the violent take it by force.
13 “For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.
14 “And if you will receive it, this is that Elijah who was to come.
15 “The one who has ears to hear let him hear.
16 “But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like little children who sit in the markets, and call to others,
17 “and say, ‘We have played the flute for you and you have not danced. We have lamented for you, and you have not mourned.’
18 “For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
19 “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend to tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”
20 Then He began to reproach the cities wherein most of His great works were done, because they did not repent.
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the great works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, in sackcloth and ashes.
22 “But I say to you it shall be easier for Tyre and Sidon on the Day of Judgment than for you.
23 “And you, Capernaum, who is lifted up to Heaven, shall be brought down to Hell! For if the great works which have been done in you had been done among those of Sodom, they would still remain to this day!
24 “But I say to you that it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom on the Day of Judgment than for you.”
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I give You thanks, O Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise, and men of understanding, and have opened them to the simple.
26 “It is so, O Father, because it was pleasing before You.
27 “All things are given to Me by My Father: and no one knows the Son, but the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.
28 “Come to Me, all you who are weary and laden, and I will ease you.
29 “Take My yoke on you, and learn of Me, that I am gentle and lowly in heart. And you shall find rest for your souls.
30 “For My yoke is easy, and My burden light.”
1 The words of Nehemiah, the son of Hachaliah: In the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in the palace of Shushan,
2 Hanani (one of my brethren) came, he and the men of Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who remained of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 And they said to me, “The remnant of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach. And the wall of Jerusalem is broken down. And its gates are burnt with fire.”
4 And when I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for some days. And I fasted and prayed before the God of Heaven,
5 and said, “O LORD God of Heaven, the great and terrible God, Who keeps Covenant and mercy for those who love Him and observe His Commandments,
6 “I pray, let Your Ears be attentive, and Your Eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant which I pray before You daily, day and night, for the children of Israel, Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You. Both I and my father’s House have sinned.
7 “We have grievously sinned against You, and have not kept the Commandments, or the Statutes, or the Judgments, which You commanded Your servant Moses.
8 “I pray, remember the Word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, ‘You will transgress. And I will scatter you among the nations.
9 ‘But if you return to Me, and keep My Commandments, and do them, though your scattering were to the uttermost part of the heaven, I will still gather you from there and will bring you to the place that I have chosen to place My Name.’
10 “Now these are Your servants and Your people whom You have redeemed by Your great power, and by Your mighty Hand.
11 “O LORD, I pray, let Your Ear now listen to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who desire to fear Your Name. And I pray, make Your servant prosper this day, and give him favor in the presence of this man. For I was the king’s butler.”
11 Now the Apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the Word of God.
2 And when Peter had come up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision examined him,
3 saying, “You went to uncircumcised men and have eaten with them.”
4 Then Peter began expounding it in order to them, saying,
5 “I was in the city of Joppa, praying. And while in a trance, I saw this vision: a certain vessel, coming down as a great sheet, let down from Heaven by the four corners. And it came to me.
6 “When I had fastened my eyes on it, I considered, and saw four-footed beasts of the Earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and birds of the heaven.
7 “Also I heard a voice, saying to me, ‘Arise, Peter. Kill and eat.’
8 “And I said, ‘Absolutely not, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.’
9 “But the voice answered me a second time from the sky, ‘The things that God has purified, do not make common.’
10 “And this was done three times, and all were taken up again into the sky.
11 “Then behold, immediately there were three men who had already come to the house where I was, sent to me from Caesarea.
12 “And the Spirit said to me that I should go with them, without doubting. Moreover, these six brothers came with me. And we entered into the man’s house.
13 “And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, who stood and said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.
14 ‘He shall speak words to you, whereby both you and all your house shall be saved.’
15 “And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, just as upon us at the beginning.
16 “Then I remembered the Word of the Lord. How He said, ‘John baptized with water. But you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.’
17 “If, then, God gave them a similar gift to the one He gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?”
18 When they heard these things, they kept silent, and glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles.”
19 And those who were scattered because of the affliction which arose about Stephen, passed through until they came to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, preaching the Word to no one except the Jews.
20 Now some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come into Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, and preached the Lord Jesus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, so that a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
22 Then, word of those things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem. And they sent forth Barnabas, to go as far as Antioch;
23 who, when he had come and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and encouraged all to continue in the Lord with purpose of heart.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost, and faith. And many people joined themselves to the Lord.
25 Then Barnabas left for Tarsus to seek Paul.
26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it so happened that they met with the church a whole year and taught many people. And the disciples were first called “Christians” in Antioch.
27 In those days, Prophets also came from Jerusalem to Antioch.
28 And one named Agabus stood up and signified by the Spirit that there would be great famine throughout all the world (which also happened under Claudius Caesar).
29 Then the disciples, everyone according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers who dwelt in Judea;
30 which they also did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
