7 And the LORD said to Noah, “Enter into the Ark, and all your house; for you have I seen righteous before me in this age.
2 “You shall take seven pairs of every clean beast (the male and his female), but of unclean beasts by couples (the male and his female).
3 “Also, take the birds of the heaven by sevens (male and female), to keep seed alive upon the whole Earth.
4 “For in seven days I will cause it to rain upon the Earth for forty days and forty nights. And I will destroy all the substance that I have made from off the Earth.”
5 Therefore, Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the Flood of waters was upon the Earth.
7 So, Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered into the Ark with him, because of the waters of the Flood.
8 Of the clean beasts and of the unclean beasts and of the birds and of all that creeps upon the Earth,
9 there came to Noah (two by two, male and female) into the Ark, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And so, after seven days, the waters of the Flood were upon the Earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up; and the windows of Heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the Earth forty days and forty nights.
13 On the same day, Noah entered into the Ark with Shem and Ham and Japheth (the sons of Noah) and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons,
14 they and every wild animal after its kind and all cattle after their kind and everything that creeps and moves upon the Earth, after its kind, and every bird after its kind (every bird of every feather).
15 For those of all flesh wherein is the breath of life came to Noah, into the Ark, two by two.
16 And entering in, male and female of all flesh came, as God had commanded. And the LORD shut him in.
17 Then the Flood was upon the Earth for forty days; and the waters were increased and bore up the Ark, which was lifted up above the Earth.
18 The waters also grew strong and were increased exceedingly upon the Earth; and the Ark went upon the waters.
19 The waters prevailed so exceedingly upon the Earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits and more did the waters rise up after the mountains were covered.
21 Then, all flesh that moved upon the Earth perished, birds and cattle and wild animals and everything that crept and moved upon the Earth, and every man.
22 Everything in whose nostrils the spirit of life breathed, whatever they were on the dry land, they died.
23 So, He destroyed everything that was upon the Earth, from man to beast to the creeping thing and to the bird of the heaven. They were all destroyed from the Earth. And only Noah remained, and those who were with him in the Ark.
24 And the waters prevailed upon the Earth a hundred and fifty days.
7 “Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 “For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged. And with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again.
3 “And why do you see the splinter that is in your brother’s eye, and not perceive the beam that is in your own eye?
4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me cast out the splinter from your eye’, and behold a beam is in your own eye?
5 “Hypocrite! First, cast out that beam from your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to cast out the splinter from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give that which is holy to dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they tread them under their feet. And, turning again, all attack you!
7 “Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.
8 “For whoever asks, receives. And the one who seeks, finds. And to the one who knocks, it shall be opened.
9 “For what man is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, would give him a stone?
10 “Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?
11 “If you then, who are evil, can give to your children good gifts, how much more shall your Father, Who is in Heaven, give good things to those who ask Him?
12 “Therefore, whatever you would have men do to you, even so do to them. For this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 “Enter in at the strait gate. For it is the wide gate and broad way that leads to destruction. And many go in there.
14 “Because the gate is strait and the way narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing; but inwardly, they are ravening wolves.
16 “You shall know them by their fruits. Does man gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
17 “So every good tree brings forth good fruit, and a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
18 “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 “Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
20 “Therefore, you shall know them by their fruits.
21 “Not everyone that says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does My Father’s will, Who is in Heaven.
22 “Many will say to Me on that Day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your Name; and by Your Name cast out demons; and by Your Name done many great works?’
23 “And then will I proclaim to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work iniquity.’
24 “Whoever then hears these words, and does the same, will be like a wise man who has built his house on a rock.
25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house. And it did not fall. For it was grounded on a rock.
26 “But whoever hears these, My words, and does not do them, shall be like a foolish man, who has built his house upon the sand.
27 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house. And it fell. And its fall was great.”
28 And it happened that when Jesus had ended these words, the people were astonished at His doctrine.
29 For He taught them as One having authority, and not as the scribes.
7 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, was Ezra, the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
4 the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the High Priest.
6 This Ezra came up from Babel and was a scribe, skilled in the Law of Moses which the LORD God of Israel had given. And the king gave him all his request according to the Hand of the LORD his God which was upon him.
7 And in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes, some of the children of Israel, and of the priests and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, went up to Jerusalem.
8 And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9 For upon the first day of the first month, he began to go up from Babel. And on the first day of the fifth month, he came to Jerusalem, according to the good Hand of his God that was upon him.
10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach the Precepts and Judgments in Israel.
11 And this is the copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the Priest and scribe, a writer of the Words of the Commandments of the LORD, and of His Statutes, over Israel:
12 “ARTAXERXES, king of kings, to Ezra the Priest and perfect scribe of the Law of the God of Heaven, and to Cheeneth,
13 “I have given commandment that every one of the people in my kingdom— of Israel and of the priests and Levites—who is willing to go to Jerusalem with you, shall go.
14 “Therefore, you are sent from the king and his seven counselors to enquire in Judah and Jerusalem, according to the Law of your God which is in your hand,
15 “and to carry the silver and the gold which the king and his counselors willingly offer to the God of Israel (whose habitation is in Jerusalem)
16 “and all the silver and gold that you can find in all the province of Babel, with the free offering of the people, and that which the priests offer willingly to the House of their God which is in Jerusalem,
17 “so that you may speedily buy bulls, rams and lambs, with their Meat Offerings and their Drink Offerings, with this silver. And you shall offer them upon the Altar of the House of your God, which is in Jerusalem.
18 “And whatever it pleases you and your brethren to do with the rest of the silver and gold, do it according to the will of your God.
19 “And the vessels that are given to you for the service of the House of your God, deliver those before God in Jerusalem.
20 “And the rest that shall be needed for the House of your God, which shall be right for you to bestow, you shall bestow it out of the king’s treasure house.
21 “And I, King Artaxerxes, have given commandment to all the treasurers which are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the Priest and scribe of the Law of the God of Heaven shall require of you, that it be done immediately,
22 “to a hundred talents of silver, to a hundred measures of wheat, and to a hundred baths of wine, and to a hundred baths of oil, and salt without writing.
23 “Whatever is by the Commandment of the God of Heaven, let it be done speedily for the House of the God of Heaven. For why should He be angry against the realm of the king and his children?
24 “And we inform you that upon any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, or ministers in this House of God, no governor shall lay toll, tribute or custom.
25 “And you, Ezra (after the wisdom of your God that is in your hand), set judges and arbiters which may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all that know the Law of your God. And teach those who do not know it.
26 “And whoever will not do the Law of your God, and the king’s law, let him have judgment without delay, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.”
27 Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, Who has put such in the king’s heart, to beautify the House of the LORD that is in Jerusalem,
28 and has inclined mercy toward me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes! And I was comforted by the Hand of the LORD my God upon me. And I gathered the chief of Israel to go up with me.
7 Then the High Priest said, “Are these things so?”
2 And he said, “You men! Brothers and fathers! Listen! The God of Glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was in Mesopotamia (before he lived in Haran),
3 “and said to him, ‘Come out of our country, and from your kindred. And come into the land which I shall show you.’
4 “Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran. And after his father died, God brought him from there into this land wherein you now dwell.
5 “And He gave him no inheritance in it; no, not the breadth of a foot. Yet, He promised that He would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when he still had no child.
6 “But God said this: ‘that his seed would be a sojourner in a strange land. And that they would keep it in bondage and mistreat it four hundred years.
7 ‘But the nation to whom they shall be in bondage, I will judge,’ says God, ‘And after that, they shall come forth and serve Me in this place.’
8 “He also gave him the Covenant of Circumcision. And Abraham begat Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day. And Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob the twelve Patriarchs.
9 “And the Patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him,
10 “and delivered him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, King of Egypt; who made him Governor over Egypt and his whole house.
11 “Then there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction, so that our fathers found no sustenance.
12 “But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent our fathers first.
13 “And the second time, Joseph was known by his brethren, and Joseph’s kindred were made known to Pharaoh.
14 “Then Joseph had his father and all his kindred brought, even seventy-five souls.
15 “So Jacob went down into Egypt, and he and our fathers died.
16 “And they were removed to Shechem and were put in the sepulcher which Abraham had bought for money from the sons of Hamor of Shechem.
17 “But when the time of the promise which God had sworn to Abraham drew near, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt.
18 “Until another King arose who did not know Joseph.
19 “The same dealt craftily with our kindred, and mistreated our fathers, and made them abandon their young children, so that they would not live.
20 “At the same time, Moses was born, and was acceptable to God. He was nursed in his father’s house for three months.
21 “And when he was abandoned, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and brought him up as her own son.
22 “And Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and in deeds.
23 “Now when he was fully forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.
24 “And when he saw one of them being wronged, he defended him, and avenged the one who had been harmed, and killed the Egyptian.
25 “For he assumed that his brothers would have understood that God, by His hand, would give them deliverance. But they did not understand that.
26 “And the next day, he showed himself to them as they fought, and tried to reconcile them, saying, ‘Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong each other?’
27 “But the one who had wronged his neighbor thrust him away, saying, ‘Who made you a prince and a judge over us?
28 ‘Will you kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday?’
29 “Then Moses fled at those words, and was a stranger in the land of Midian, where he had two sons.
30 “And after forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord in a flame of fire appeared to him in a bush, in the wilderness of mount Sinai.
31 “And when Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight. And as he drew near to examine it, the voice of the Lord came to him, saying,
32 ‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Then Moses trembled, and dared not look at it.
33 “Then the Lord said to him, ‘Take off your shoes from your feet. For the place where you stand is Holy Ground.
34 ‘Seeing, I have seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt. And I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now, come, and I will send you into Egypt.
35 “This Moses whom they forsook, saying, ‘Who made you a prince and a judge?’ The same man God sent as a prince and a deliverer, by the hand of the Angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 “He brought them out, doing wonders and miracles in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness, forty years.
37 “This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord your God shall raise up to you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear.
38 “This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness, with the Angel which spoke to him on mount Sinai, and with our fathers who received the living oracles to give to us;
39 “whom our fathers would not obey, but refused, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
40 ‘saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods that may go before us. For we do not know what has become of this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt.’
41 “And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 “Then God turned Himself away, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven, as it is written in the Book of the Prophets, ‘O House of Israel, have you offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness?
43 “‘And you took up the Tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan - figures which you made to worship them. Therefore, I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’
44 “Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed; speaking to Moses so that he would make it according to the pattern which he had seen,
45 “which our fathers also received and (with Joshua) brought into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God drove out before our fathers until the days of David,
46 “who found favor before God, and desired that he might find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
47 “But Solomon built him a house.
48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands. As says the Prophet,
49 ‘Heaven is My throne. And Earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me?’, says the Lord. ‘Or, what place is it that I should rest in?
50 ‘Has not My hand made all these things?’
51 “You stiff-necked! With uncircumcised hearts and ears! You have always resisted the Holy Ghost. As your fathers did, so do you!
52 “Which of the Prophets have your fathers not persecuted? And they have killed those who foretold of the coming of the Just One, Of Whom you are now the betrayers and murderers.
53 “Who have received the law by the ordinance of angels and have not kept it.”
54 And when they heard these things, they were cut to the quick. And they gnashed at him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked steadfastly into Heaven, and saw the Glory of God; and Jesus, standing at the right hand of God,
56 and said, “Behold, I see the heavens open! And the Son of Man, standing at the right hand of God!”
57 Then they gave a shout with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him violently all at once,
58 and cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, who called out, saying, “Lord Jesus! Receive my spirit!”
60 And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, “Lord! Do not lay this sin to their charge!” And when he had spoken this, he slept.
