3 Now the serpent was more cunning than any wild animal which the LORD God had made; and he said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden.
3 “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You shall not die at all.
5 “But, God knows that when you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened; and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”6 So the woman (seeing that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired, to get knowledge) took of the fruit thereof and ate; and also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
7 Then, the eyes of them both were opened; and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig tree leaves together and made themselves coverings.
8 Afterward, they heard the voice of the LORD God, walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God, among the trees of the garden.
9 But the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 Who said, “I heard Your voice in the garden and was afraid, because I was naked. Therefore, I hid myself.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree whereof I commanded you that you should not eat?”
12 Then the man said, “The woman, which You gave to be with me, she gave to me from the tree, and I ate.”
13 And the LORD God said to the woman, “Why have you done this?” And the woman said, “The serpent tricked me, and I ate.”
14 Then the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every wild animal. Upon your belly you shall go; and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.
15 “I will also put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He shall break your head and you shall bruise His heel.”
16 To the woman, He said, “I will greatly increase your sorrows and your conceptions. In sorrow you shall bring forth children. And your desire shall be subject to your husband. And he shall rule over you.”
17 Also, He said to Adam, “Because you have obeyed the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree (whereof I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’), the earth is cursed for your sake. In sorrow you shall eat from it, all the days of your life.
18 “Also, it shall bring forth thorns and thistles to you. And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, until you return to the earth. For out of it you were taken because you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
20 And the man called his wife’s name “Eve”, because she was the mother of all living.
21 Also, to Adam and to his wife, the LORD God made coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become as one of us, knowing good and evil. And now, lest he also put forth his hand and take and eat of the Tree of Life, and live forever…”
23 Therefore, the LORD God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the earth from where he was taken.
24 Thus, He cast out the man; and at the east side of the Garden of Eden, He set the Cherubims, and the blade of a shaken sword, to keep the way of the Tree of Life.
3 And in those days, John the Baptist came and preached in the wilderness of Judea,
2 and said, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”
3 For this is he of whom it is spoken by the Prophet Isaiah, saying, “The voice of him who cries in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord! Make His paths straight!’”
4 And this John had his garment of camel’s hair, and a girdle of a skin around his loins. Also, his food was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region around Jordan went out to him.
6 And they were baptized by him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 Now, when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said to them, “O, generation of vipers! Who has warned you to flee from the anger to come?
8 “Bring forth, therefore, fruit worthy of repentance!
9 “And do not think to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham even from these stones!
10 “And now, also, the axe is put to the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree which does not bring forth good fruit, is cut down, and cast into the fire.
11 “Indeed, I baptize you with water to repentance! But He Who comes after me is mightier than me! I am not worthy to bear His shoes! He Who has His winnowing fork in His hand will baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire,
12 “and will make His floor clean and gather His wheat into His garner; but will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan, to John, to be baptized by him.
14 But John earnestly hindered Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You! And You come to me?”
15 Then Jesus, answering, said to him, “Let it be for now. For it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness.” So, he permitted Him.
16 And Jesus, when He was baptized, came straight out of the water. And lo, the heavens were opened to Him. And the Spirit of God was seen, descending like a Dove, and lighting upon Him.
17 And lo, a voice came from Heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well-pleased.”
3 And when the seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in their cities, the people assembled themselves as one man to Jerusalem.
2 Then Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, stood up and built the Altar of the God of Israel, to offer Burnt Offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
3 And they set the Altar upon its bases (for fear was among them because of the people of those countries). Therefore, they offered Burnt Offerings to the LORD on it, Burnt Offerings in the morning and at evening.
4 They also kept the Feast of the Tabernacles, as it is written, and a daily Burnt Offering, by number, according to the custom, day by day,
5 and afterward, the continual Burnt Offering, both in the new months and on all the Feast days that were consecrated to the LORD, and in all the oblations willingly offered to the LORD.
6 From the first day of the seventh month, they began to offer Burnt Offerings to the LORD. But the foundation of the Temple of the LORD was not laid.
7 They also gave money to the masons, and to the workmen, and food and drink, and oil to those of Zidon and of Tyre, to bring them cedar wood from Lebanon to the sea, to Japho, according to the grant that they had from Cyrus, king of Persia.
8 And in the second year of their coming to the House of God in Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests, and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and above, began to set forward the work of the House of the LORD.
9 And Jeshua stood with his sons, and his brethren, and Kadmiel with his sons, and the sons of Judah together, to set forward the workmen in the House of God, and the sons of Henadad, with their sons, and their brethren the Levites.
10 And after the builders laid the foundation of the Temple of the LORD, they appointed the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the Ordinance of David, king of Israel.
11 Thus they sang to the LORD, when they gave praise and when they gave thanks: “For He is good! For His mercy endures forever toward Israel!” And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the House of the LORD had been laid.
12 Also, many of the priests and the Levites and the chief of the fathers, ancient men who had seen the first House, (when the foundation of this House was laid before their eyes) wept with a loud voice. And many shouted aloud for joy,
13 so that the people could not discern the sound of the shout for joy from the noise of the weeping of the people. For the people shouted with a loud cry. And the noise was heard far away.
3 Now Peter and John went up together into the Temple, at the ninth hour of prayer.
2 And a certain man, who was a cripple from his mother’s womb, was carried; whom they laid daily at the Temple gate called ‘Beautiful’ to ask alms of those who entered into the Temple.
3 Seeing Peter and John about to enter into the Temple, he asked to receive alms.
4 And Peter, fixing his gaze on him with John, said, “Look at us.”
5 And he stared at them, trusting to receive something from them.
6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have, that give I you. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up. And immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaped up, stood, and walked; and entered into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
10 And they knew that it was him who sat for the alms at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. And they were amazed, and very astonished at what had happened to him.
11 And as the cripple who was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran to them, amazed, in the porch called ‘Solomon’s’.
12 So, when Peter saw it, he answered the people, “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? And why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
13 “The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers has glorified His Son, Jesus; Whom you betrayed, and denied, in the presence of Pilate when he had judged Him to be released.
14 “But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and desired that a murderer to be given to you;
15 “and killed the Lord of Life, Whom God has raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.
16 “And His Name has made this man whole whom you see and know, through faith in His Name. And his faith has given to him this perfect health of his whole body, in the presence of you all!
17 “And now, brothers, I know that you did it through ignorance, as did also your governors.
18 “But those things which God had shown before by the mouth of all his Prophets - that Christ would suffer - He has thus fulfilled.
19 “Therefore repent, and convert, that your sins may be blotted out when the time of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
20 “And He shall send Jesus Christ, Who was preached to you before;
21 “Whom the heaven must contain until the time that all things are restored which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy Prophets since the world began.
22 “For Moses said to the Fathers, ‘The Lord your God shall raise up to you a Prophet, of your brothers, like me. You shall hear Him in all things, whatever He shall say to you.
23 ‘For it shall be that every person who shall not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
24 “Also, all the Prophets, from Samuel through those who followed, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
25 “You are the children of the Prophets, and of the Covenant which God has made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed shall all the families of the Earth be blessed.’
26 “To you first, God has raised up His Son Jesus. And He has sent Him to bless you, in turning every one of you from your iniquities.”
