M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
21 Then there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David asked counsel of the LORD. And the LORD answered: “It is for Saul, and for his bloody House, because he killed the [c]Gibeonites.”
2 Then the king called the Gibeonites, and said to them…(Now, the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but a remnant of the Amorites, with whom the children of Israel had sworn peace. But Saul sought to kill them for his zeal toward the children of Israel and Judah.)
3 And David said to the Gibeonites, “What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make the atonement, so that you may bless the inheritance of the LORD?”
4 The Gibeonites then answered him, “We will have no silver or gold from Saul, nor from his house. Nor shall you kill any man in Israel for us.” And he said, “Whatever you say, that will I do for you.”
5 Then they answered the king, “The man who consumed us, and who imagined evil against us, so that we have been destroyed from remaining in any territory of Israel,
6 “let seven men of his sons be delivered to us. And we will hang them up to the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, the LORD’s chosen.” And the king said, “I will give them.”
7 But the king had compassion on Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan, the son of Saul.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul (Armoni and Mephibosheth) and the five sons of Michal, the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai, the Meholathite.
9 And he delivered them to the hands of the Gibeonites, who hanged them on the mountain, before the LORD. So they died, seven altogether. And they were killed in the time of harvest, in the first days, and in the beginning of barley harvest.
10 Then Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, took sackcloth and hung it up for herself upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them from the sky, and allowed neither the birds of the air to light on them by day nor beasts of the field by night.
11 And it was told to David what Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan, his son, from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the street of Beth Shan where the Philistines had hanged them when the Philistines had killed Saul in Gilboa.
13 So he brought the bones of Saul there, and the bones of Jonathan, his son. And they gathered the bones of those who were hanged.
14 And they buried the bones of Saul and of Jonathan, his son, in the country of Benjamin, in Zelah, in the grave of Kish, his father. And when they had performed all that the king had commanded, God was then appeased with the land.
15 Again, the Philistines had war with Israel. And David went down, and his servants with him. And they fought against the Philistines. And David fainted.
16 Then Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giants whose spears weighed three hundred shekels of bronze, girded a new sword and thought to kill David.
17 But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, helped him and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “You shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench the light of Israel.”
18 And after this, there was also a battle with the Philistines at Gob. Then, Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was one of the sons of the giants.
19 And there was yet another battle with the Philistines in Gob, where Elhanan, the son of Jaare-Oregim, a Bethlehemite, killed Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20 Afterward, there was also a battle in Gath, where there was a man of stature, who had six fingers on every hand and six toes on every foot (twenty-four in number) who was also the son of giants.
21 And when he reviled Israel, Jonathan, the son of Shimea, the brother of David, killed him.
22 These four were born to giants in Gath, and died by the hand of David, and by the hands of his servants.
1 Paul, an Apostle (neither of man, nor by man; but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, Who has raised Him from the dead),
2 and all the brothers who are with me, to the Churches of Galatia:
3 Grace be with you, and peace, from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God, even our Father,
5 to Whom be glory, forever and ever, Amen.
6 I marvel that you are so soon lured away to another gospel from Him who had called you in the grace of Christ,
7 which is not another gospel. Yet, there are some who are agitating you, and intend to pervert the Gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we, or an angel from Heaven, preach to you any other gospel than that which we have preached, let him be accursed.
9 As we have said before, so say I now again: If anyone preaches to you any other gospel than that which you have received, let him be accursed.
10 For as of now, do I preach man’s doctrine, or God’s? Or, do I go about to please man? For if I were still pleasing man, I would not be the servant of Christ.
11 Now let it be known, brothers, that the Gospel which was preached by me, is not according to man.
12 Neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 For you have heard of my former way of life in the Jewish religion; how I persecuted the Church of God extremely, and destroyed it,
14 And advanced in the Jewish religion above many of my countrymen and was much more devoted to the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when it pleased God (who had set me apart from my mother’s womb, and called me by His grace)
16 To reveal his Son in me; that I should preach Him among the Gentiles immediately. I did not communicate with flesh and blood.
17 Nor did I return to Jerusalem, to those who were Apostles before me. But I went into Arabia and returned again to Damascus.
18 Then, after three years, I came again to Jerusalem, to visit Peter; and stayed with him fifteen days.
19 And I saw no other Apostle except James, the Lord’s brother.
20 Now the things which I write to you, behold, I testify before God, that I do not lie.
21 After that, I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. For I was unknown by face to the Churches of Judea which are in Christ,
22 Who had only heard some say, “He who formerly persecuted us, now preaches the faith which before he destroyed.”
23 And they glorified God in me.
28 The Word of the LORD came again to me, saying:
2 “Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Because your heart is haughty, and you have said, ‘I am a god. I sit on the Seat of God, in the midst of the sea.’ Yet you are but a man and not God. And though you thought in your heart that you were equal with God—
3 “Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from you.
4 “With your wisdom and your understanding, you have gotten riches for yourself, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasuries.
5 “By your great wisdom, by your trading, you have increased your riches; and your heart is haughty because of your riches—
6 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Because you thought, in your heart, that you were equal with God,
7 “behold, therefore, I will bring strangers upon you, the ruthless nations. And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom. And they shall defile your brightness.
8 “They shall cast you down into the pit; and you shall die the death of those who are killed in the midst of the sea.
9 “Will you then say before him who kills you, ‘I am a god?’ But you shall be a man, and not God, in the hands of him who kills you.
10 “You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hands of strangers. For I have spoken it,” says the Lord GOD.’”
11 Moreover, the Word of the LORD came to me, saying:
12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “You seal up the sum, are full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 “You have been in Eden, the Garden of God. Every precious stone in your garment—the ruby, the topaz, the diamond, the chrysolite, the onyx, the jasper, the sapphire, emerald, the carbuncle and gold, the workmanship of your timbrels and of your pipes—was prepared in you on the day that you were created.
14 “You are the anointed Cherub that covers; and I have set you. You were upon the Holy Mountain of God. You have walked in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 “You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you.
16 “By the multitude of your merchandise, they have filled the midst of you with cruelty; and you have sinned. Therefore, I will cast you out of the Mountain of God as profane. And I will destroy you, O covering Cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 “Your heart was haughty because of your beauty. You have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I will cast you to the ground. I will lay you before kings so that they may behold you.
18 “You have defiled your sanctification by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your merchandise. Therefore, I will bring forth a fire from the midst of you, which shall devour you. And I will bring you to ashes upon the Earth, in the sight of all those who behold you.
19 “All those who know you among the people shall be astonished at you. You shall be a terror; and you shall never be anymore.”’”
20 Again the Word of the LORD came to me, saying:
21 “Son of man, set your face against Sidon, and prophesy against it,
22 “and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I come against you, O Sidon, and I will be glorified in the midst of you. And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.
23 “For I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets; and the slain shall fall by the sword in the midst of her, on every side. And they shall know that I am the LORD.
24 “And they shall no longer be a pricking thorn to the House of Israel, or a grievous thorn to those who are all around them and despise them. And they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.”
25 ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “When I shall have gathered the House of Israel from the people where they are scattered and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in the land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
26 “And they shall dwell safely in it and shall build houses and plant vineyards. Yea, they shall dwell safely when I have executed judgments upon all those around them who despise them. And they shall know that I am the LORD their God.”’”
77 My voice came to God when I cried. My voice came to God and He heard me.
2 On the day of my trouble, I sought the LORD. My hand did not cease in the night. My soul refused comfort.
3 I thought upon God and was troubled. I prayed, and my spirit was full of anguish. Selah.
4 You keep my eyes awake. I was astonished and could not speak.
5 I considered the days of old, the years of ancient time.
6 I called to remembrance my song in the night. I communed with my own heart; and my spirit searched diligently.
7 Will the LORD be absent forever? And will He show no more favor?
8 Has His mercy ceased forever? Does His promise fail forevermore?
9 Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has He shut up His tender mercies in displeasure? Selah.
10 And I said, “This is my death.” Yet, I remembered the years of the right hand of the Most High.
11 I remembered the works of the LORD. Certainly, I remembered Your wonders of old.
12 I will also meditate on all Your works and talk of Your acts.
13 Your way, O God, is in the Sanctuary. Who is so great a God as our God!
14 You are the God Who does wonders. You have declared Your power among the people.
15 You have redeemed Your people with Your arm, even the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
16 The waters saw You, O God. The waters saw You and were afraid. Indeed, the depths trembled.
17 The clouds poured out water. The heavens gave a sound. Indeed, Your arrows went all over.
18 The voice of Your thunder was all round. The lightnings lightened the world; the earth trembled and shook.
19 Your way is in the sea, Your paths in the great waters; and Your footsteps are not known.
20 You led Your people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to Asaph
