Version
2 Samuel 7

Afterward, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies, all around,

the king said to Nathan the Prophet, “Behold, now I dwell in a house of cedar trees, and the Ark of God remains within the curtains.”

Then Nathan said to the king, “Go and do all that is in your heart. For the LORD is with you.”

And that same night, the Word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,

“Go and tell my servant, David, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Shall you build Me a house for My dwelling?

‘For I have dwelt in no house since the time that I brought the children of Israel out of Egypt until this day but have moved about in a Tent and Tabernacle.

‘In every place I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken one word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I Commanded to feed My people Israel, saying, “Why did you not build Me a house of cedar trees?”’

“Now, therefore, so say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD of Hosts: “I took you from the sheepfolds, following the sheep, so that you might be ruler over My people, over Israel.

“And I was with you wherever you have walked and have destroyed all your enemies out of your sight, and have made you a great name, like the names of the great men who are on the Earth.

10 “Also, I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant it, so that they may dwell in a place of their own and no longer move. Nor shall wicked people trouble them anymore as before,

11 “and since the time that I set judges over My people of Israel. And I will give you rest from all your enemies. Also, the LORD tells you that He will make you a house.

12 “And when your days are fulfilled, you shall sleep with your fathers. And I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your body, and will establish his kingdom.

13 “He shall build a House for My Name. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

14 “I will be his father, and he shall be my son. And if he sins, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the plagues of the children of men.

15 “But my mercy shall not depart from him as I took it from Saul, whom I have put away before you.

16 “And your house shall be established before you, and your kingdom, forever. Your throne shall be established forever.”’”

17 According to all these words and according to all this vision, Nathan spoke thus to David.

18 Then, King David went in and sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O Lord GOD? And what is my house, that You have brought me here?

19 “And yet, this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord GOD. Therefore, You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. And this is the manner of man, O Lord GOD.

20 “And what more can David say to You? For You, Lord GOD, know Your servant.

21 “For Your Word’s sake, and according to Your own Heart, have You done all these great things, to make them known to Your servant.

22 “Therefore, You are great, O Lord GOD! For there is none like You. Nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 “And what one people on the Earth is like Your people, like Israel, whose God went and redeemed them to Himself, so that they might be His people, and that He might make a Name for Himself and do great and mighty things for Yourself and for Your land, O LORD. You have redeemed Your people to Yourself out of Egypt, the nations, and their gods!

24 “For You have ordained Your people Israel to Yourself, to be Your people forever! And You, LORD, have become their God.

25 “Now, therefore, O Lord GOD, confirm forever the Word that You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house, and do as You have said.

26 “And let Your Name be magnified forever by those who shall say, ‘The LORD of Hosts is the God over Israel,’ and let the House of Your servant David be established before You.

27 “For You, O LORD of Hosts, God of Israel, have revealed to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a House.’ Therefore, Your servant has been bold to pray this prayer to You.

28 “Therefore, now, O Lord GOD (You are God and Your Words are true and You have told this goodness to Your servant),

29 “therefore, now let it please You to bless the House of Your servant, so that it may continue forever before You. For You, O Lord GOD, have spoken it. And let the House of Your servant be blessed forever with Your blessing.”

2 Corinthians 1

Paul - an Apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God - and brother Timothy, To the Church of God which is at Corinth (with all the Saints who are in all Achaia):

Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort,

Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation abounds through Christ.

And if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is wrought in the enduring of the same sufferings that we also suffer. Or, if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

And our hope is steadfast concerning you, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you also be of the consolation.

For brothers, we would not have you be ignorant of our affliction, which came to us in Asia; how we were pressed beyond measure, passing strength, so that we utterly despaired, even of life.

But, we received the sentence of death in ourselves, because we should not rest in ourselves, but in God, Who raised the dead.

10 Who delivered us from so great a death and does deliver us. And in Whom also we have hope will still yet deliver.

11 So that you labor together in prayer for us, that thanks on our behalf may be given by many for the grace bestowed upon us through many.

12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience: that in simplicity and godly purity, not in fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and most of all towards you.

13 For we write no other things to you than what you read and understand. And I hope you shall understand even to the end,

14 as you have understood us partly, that we are your exultation, even as you are ours, on the day of our Lord Jesus.

15 And in this confidence, I initially intended to come to you. So that you might have had a second grace;

16 and to pass by you into Macedonia; and to come again to you, out of Macedonia; and to be led forth by you toward Judea.

17 Therefore, when I was thus-minded did I use lightness? Or do I purpose those things which I purpose according to the flesh, that with me should be, “Yes, yes”, and “No, no”?

18 But God is faithful. So that our word toward you was not “Yes”, and “No”.

19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, Who was preached among you by us - by me, and Silvanus, and Timothy - was not “Yes” and “No”. But in Him was “Yes”.

20 For all the promises of God in Him are “Yes”, and in Him “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.

21 And it is God Who established us with you in Christ and has anointed us.

22 Who has also sealed us and has given the earnest portion of the Spirit in our hearts.

23 Now, I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you, I have not as yet come to Corinth.

24 Not that we have dominion over your faith, but we are helpers of your joy. For by faith you stand.

Ezekiel 15

15 And the Word of the LORD came to me, saying:

“Son of man, how is the wood from the vine above all wood — the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

“Shall wood be taken from it do any work? Or will men take a pin from it to hang a vessel on?

“Behold, it is cast into the fire to be consumed. The fire consumes both ends of it, and the middle of it is burnt. Is it useful for any work?

“Behold, when it was whole, it was not useful for any work; how much less shall it be useful for any work when the fire has consumed it, and it is burnt?”

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “As the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire to be consumed, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

“And I will set My Face against them. They shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall consume them. And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set My Face against them,

“and I make the land waste, because they have greatly offended,” says the Lord GOD.

Psalm 56-57

56 Be merciful to me, O God; for man desires to swallow me up. He fights continually and troubles me.

My enemies would swallow me up daily; for many fight against me, O You Most High.

When I was afraid, I trusted in You.

I will rejoice in God because of His Word. I trust in God and will not fear what flesh can do to me.

My own words grieve me daily. All their thoughts are against me, to do me hurt.

They gather together and keep themselves close. They mark my steps because they wait for my soul.

They think they shall escape by iniquity. O God, cast these people down in Your anger.

You have counted my wanderings. Put my tears into Your bottle. Are they not in Your register?

When I cry, then my enemies shall turn back. This I know; for God is with me.

10 I will rejoice in God because of His Word. I will rejoice in the LORD because of His Word.

11 In God do I trust. I will not be afraid what man can do to me.

12 Your vows are upon me, O God. I will render praises to You.

13 For You have delivered my soul from death—and also my feet from falling—so that I may walk before God in the light of the living. To him who excels: Do not destroy. A Psalm of David, on Michtam, when he fled from Saul in the cave

57 Have mercy upon me, O God. Have mercy upon me, for my soul trusts in You, and in the shadow of Your wings I will trust till afflictions pass over.

I will call to the Most High God, the God Who performs toward me.

He will send from Heaven and save me from the reproof of him who would swallow me. Selah. God will send His mercy and His truth.

My soul is among lions; I lie among the children of men, who are set on fire; whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Exalt Yourself, O God, above the heaven. Let Your Glory be upon all the Earth.

They have laid a net for my steps. My soul is pressed down; they have dug a pit before me and have fallen into the midst of it. Selah.

My heart is prepared, O God. My heart is prepared. I will sing and give praise!

Awake, my tongue! Awake, viol and harp! I will awake early!

I will praise You, O LORD, among the people. I will sing to You among the nations.

10 For Your mercy is great unto the heavens; Your Truth unto the clouds!

11 Exalt Yourself, O God, above the heavens! Let Your Glory be upon all the Earth! To him who excels: Do not destroy. A Psalm of David, on Michtam
