Genesis 1

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the Earth.

And the Earth was without form and void. And darkness was upon the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

And God called the light, “day.” And the darkness He called, “night.” So, the evening and the morning were the first day.

Again, God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters. And let it separate the waters from the waters.”

Then God made the expanse; and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it was so.

And God called the expanse, “sky.” So, the evening and the morning were the second day.

God said again, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered into one place. And let the dry land appear.” And it was so.

10 And God called the dry land, “earth.” And He called the gathering together of the waters, “seas.” And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants, the fruit-bearing tree - which bears fruit according to its kind and has its seed in itself - upon the Earth.” And it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth vegetation that bears seed according to its kind; also, the fruit-bearing tree that has its seed in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky, to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.

15 “And let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky, to give light upon the Earth.” And it was so.

16 God then made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.

17 And God set them in the expanse of the sky; to shine upon the Earth

18 and to rule in the day and in the night; and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20 Afterward, God said, “Let the waters bring forth in abundance every creeping thing that has life. And let the birds fly upon the Earth in the open expanse of the sky.”

21 Then God created the great whales; and everything living and moving which the waters brought forth in abundance according to their kind; and every bird, according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

22 Then God blessed them, saying, “Bring forth fruit and multiply. And fill the waters in the seas. And let the birds multiply on the Earth.”

23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 Moreover, God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living thing, according to its kind: cattle, and that which creeps, and the wild animals, according to their kind.” And it was so.

25 And God made the wild animal of the Earth, according to its kind; cattle, according to its kind; and every creeping thing of the Earth, according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 Furthermore, God said, “Let us make man, in our image, according to our likeness. And let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds, and over the wild animals, and over all the Earth, and over everything that creeps and moves on the Earth.

27 Thus, God created the man in His image. In the image of God, He created him. He created them male and female.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Bring forth fruit, and multiply. And fill the Earth and subdue it. And rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over every wild animal that moves upon the Earth.”

29 And God said, “Behold, I have given to you every plant-bearing seed which is upon all the Earth. And every tree (wherein is the fruit of a tree-bearing seed) shall be food for you.

30 Likewise - to every wild animal of the Earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that moves upon the Earth which has life in itself - every green plant shall be for food.” And it was so.

31 And God saw all that He had made. And lo, it was very good. So, the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Matthew 1

Book of the lineage of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Abraham begat Isaac. And Isaac begat Jacob. And Jacob begat Judah and his brothers.

And Judah begat Perez, and Zerah, of Tamar. And Perez begat Hezron. And Hezron begat Ram.

And Ram begat Amminadab. And Amminadab begat Nahshon. And Nahshon begat Salmon.

And Salmon begat Boaz, of Rahab. And Boaz begat Obed, of Ruth. And Obed begat Jesse.

And Jesse begat David the King. And David the King begat Solomon, of the wife of Uriah.

And Solomon begat Rehoboam. And Rehoboam begat Abijah. And Abijah begat Asa.

And Asa begat Jehoshaphat. And Jehoshaphat begat Joram. And Joram begat Uzziah.

And Uzziah begat Jotham. And Jotham begat Ahaz. And Ahaz begat Hezekiah.

10 And Hezekiah begat Manasseh. And Manasseh begat Amon. And Amon begat Josiah.

11 And Josiah begat Jeconiah, and his brothers, about the time they were carried away to Babylon.

12 And after they were carried away into Babylon, Jeconiah begat Shealtiel. And Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel.

13 And Zerubbabel begat Abiud. And Abiud begat Eliakim. And Eliakim begat Azor.

14 And Azor begat Zadok. And Zadok begat Achim. And Achim begat Eliud.

15 And Eliud begat Eleazar. And Eleazar begat Matthan. And Matthan begat Jacob.

16 And Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, Who is called Christ.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David until they were carried away into Babylon, fourteen generations; and after they were carried away into Babylon until Christ, fourteen generations.

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: When His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child, from the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, was of a mind to release her secretly.

20 But while he thought these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, the son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For that which is conceived in her, is from the Holy Ghost.

21 “And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. For He shall save His people from their sins.”

22 And all this was done to fulfill that which is spoken from the Lord by the Prophet, saying,

23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with Child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, ‘God with us’.”

24 Then Joseph, having awakened, did as the angel of the Lord had instructed him, and took his wife.

25 But he did not know her until she had brought forth her first-born Son, and he called His name, Jesus.

Ezra 1

Now in the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia (so that the Word of the LORD, by the mouth of Jeremiah, might be accomplished) the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia. And he made a proclamation through all his kingdom, and also by writing, saying,

“Thus says Cyrus, king of Persia, ‘The LORD God of Heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the Earth. And He has Commanded me to build Him a House in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

‘Who is he among you of all His people with whom his God is? Let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the House of the LORD God of Israel. He is the God Who is in Jerusalem.

“And anyone who remains in any place where he has sojourned, let the men of his place support him with silver and with gold and with goods and with cattle, a willing offering for the House of God that is in Jerusalem.”

Then, the chief fathers of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites rose up with all those whose spirit God had raised up to go, to build the House of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

And all those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods and with cattle, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

Also, King Cyrus brought forth the vessels of the House of the LORD which Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of Jerusalem and put in the house of his god.

Cyrus, king of Persia, brought them forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and counted them to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

And this is the number of them: thirty basins of gold, one thousand basins of silver, twenty-nine knives,

10 thirty bowls of gold, four hundred ten silver bowls of the second sort, and one thousand other vessels.

11 All the vessels of gold and silver were five thousand four hundred. Sheshbazzar brought up all with those of the captivity who came up from Babel to Jerusalem.

Acts 1

I have made the first account, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began to do and teach

until the day He was taken up (after He, through the Holy Ghost, had given Commandments to the Apostles whom He had chosen -

and to whom He presented Himself alive by many sure signs after He had suffered - being seen by them over forty days and speaking of those things concerning the Kingdom of God).

And when He had gathered them together, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, He said, “You have heard from Me.

“For John indeed baptized with water. But you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost within a few days.”

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked of Him, saying, “Lord, will You restore the Kingdom to Israel at this time?”

And He said to them, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put in place by His own authority.

“But you shall receive power from the Holy Ghost when He shall come upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me, both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the outermost part of the Earth.”

And when He had spoken these things, while they looked on, He was taken up. For a cloud took Him up out of their sight.

10 And as He went, while they were looking toward Heaven, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

11 who also said, “You men of Galilee! Why do you stand, gazing into Heaven? This Jesus Who is taken up from you into Heaven, shall also come as you have seen Him go into Heaven.”

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount that is called ‘Olivet’, which is near Jerusalem, being from it a Sabbath’s journey.

13 And when they had come in, they went up into an upper room, where Peter and James were, and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zealot, and Judas (James’ brother).

14 These all continued, with one mind, in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

15 And in those days, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said (now the number of names that were in one place were about a hundred and twenty).

16 “You men and brothers, this Scripture, which the Holy Ghost, through David, spoke of Judas (guide to those who took Jesus), must have been fulfilled.

17 “For he was numbered with us and had obtained fellowship in this ministry.

18 “Therefore, he has purchased a field with the reward of iniquity. And when he had thrown himself down headlong, he burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.

19 “And it is known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, insomuch that that field is called, in their own language, ‘Akel Dama’, which means, ‘Field of Blood’.

20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms, ‘Let his house be empty, and let no one dwell therein.’ Also, ‘Let another take his position.’

21 “Therefore, of these men who have been with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 “beginning from the baptism of John until the day that He was taken up from us, one of them must be made a fellow witness of His resurrection.”

23 And they presented two: Joseph, called Barsabas (whose surname was Justus) and Matthias.

24 And they prayed, saying, “You Lord, Who knows the hearts of all, show us which of these two You have chosen,

25 “so that he may take the part of this ministry and Apostleship from which Judas has gone astray to go to his own place.”

26 Then they cast their lots. And the lot fell on Matthias. And he was counted with the eleven Apostles.
