Numbers 2

Israel Camped by Their Standards

Now Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, (A)The sons of Israel shall camp, each by his own standard, with the [a]banners of their fathers’ households; they shall camp around the tent of meeting [b]at a distance. Now those who camp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the standard of the camp of Judah, by their armies, and the leader of the sons of Judah: (B)Nahshon the son of Amminadab, and his army, even their [c]numbered men, 74,600. Those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar, and the leader of the sons of Issachar: (C)Nethanel the son of Zuar, and his army, even his numbered men, 54,400. Then the tribe of Zebulun, and the leader of the sons of Zebulun: (D)Eliab the son of Helon, and his army, even his numbered men, 57,400. The total of the numbered men of the camp of Judah: 186,400, by their armies. (E)They shall set out first.

10 “On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben by their armies, and the leader of the sons of Reuben: (F)Elizur the son of Shedeur, 11 and his army, even his numbered men, 46,500. 12 And those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon, and the leader of the sons of Simeon: (G)Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, 13 and his army, even their numbered men, 59,300. 14 Then the tribe of Gad, and the leader of the sons of Gad: (H)Eliasaph the son of [d]Deuel, 15 and his army, even their numbered men, 45,650. 16 The total of the numbered men of the camp of Reuben: 151,450 by their armies. And (I)they shall set out second.

17 (J)Then the tent of meeting shall set out with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps; just as they camp, so they shall set out, every man in his place by their standards.

18 “On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of (K)Ephraim by their armies, and the leader of the sons of Ephraim: (L)Elishama the son of Ammihud, 19 and his army, even their numbered men, 40,500. 20 Next to him shall be the tribe of Manasseh, and the leader of the sons of Manasseh: (M)Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, 21 and his army, even their numbered men, 32,200. 22 Then the tribe of (N)Benjamin, and the leader of the sons of Benjamin: (O)Abidan the son of Gideoni, 23 and his army, even their numbered men, 35,400. 24 The total of the numbered men of the camp of Ephraim: 108,100, by their armies. And (P)they shall set out third.

25 “On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan by their armies, and the leader of the sons of Dan: (Q)Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, 26 and his army, even their numbered men, 62,700. 27 Those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher, and the leader of the sons of Asher: (R)Pagiel the son of Ochran, 28 and his army, even their numbered men, 41,500. 29 Then the tribe of (S)Naphtali, and the leader of the sons of Naphtali: (T)Ahira the son of Enan, 30 and his army, even their numbered men, 53,400. 31 The total of the numbered men of the camp of Dan was 157,600. (U)They shall set out last by their standards.”

32 These are the numbered men of the sons of Israel by their fathers’ households; the total of the numbered men of the camps by their armies, (V)603,550. 33 (W)The Levites, however, were not numbered among the sons of Israel, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses. 34 Thus the sons of Israel did; according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they camped by their standards, and so they set out, every one by his family according to his father’s household.

Psalm 36

In Your Light We See Light

For the choir director. Of the servant of Yahweh, of David.

36 [a]Transgression declares to the [b]ungodly within [c]his heart;
There is (A)no dread of God before his eyes.
For it (B)flatters him in his eyes
For one to discover his iniquity and hate it.
The (C)words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has (D)ceased to consider to do good.
He (E)devises wickedness upon his bed;
He sets himself on a (F)path that is not good;
He (G)does not despise evil.

Your (H)lovingkindness, O Yahweh, is in the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Your (I)righteousness is like the [d]mountains of God;
Your (J)judgments are like a great deep.
O Yahweh, You (K)save man and beast.
How (L)precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
And the sons of men (M)take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
They [e]are (N)satisfied from the [f]richness of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the (O)river of Your delights.
For with You is the (P)fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

10 Continue Your lovingkindness to (Q)those who know You,
And Your (R)righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of [g]pride come upon me,
And let not the hand of the [h]ungodly drive me away.
12 There the workers of wickedness have fallen;
They have been thrust down and (S)cannot rise.

Ecclesiastes 12

Remember Your Creator in Your Youth

12 (A)Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the (B)evil days happen and the years draw near in which you will say, “I have no delight in them”; before the (C)sun and the light, the moon and the stars are darkened, and clouds return after the rain; in the day that the watchmen of the house tremble, and valiant men (D)bend down, the grinding ones stand idle because they are few, and (E)those who look through [a]windows grow dark; and the doors on the street are shut as the (F)sound of the grinding mill is low, and one will arise at the sound of the bird, and all the (G)daughters of song will [b]sing softly. Furthermore, [c]men are afraid of a high place and of terrors on the road; the almond tree blooms, the grasshopper drags itself along, and the caperberry is ineffective. For man goes to his eternal (H)home, but the (I)mourners go about in the street. Remember Him before the silver [d]cord is [e]snapped and the (J)golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the spring is broken and the wheel at the cistern is crushed; then the (K)dust will return to the earth as it was, and the [f](L)spirit will return to (M)God who gave it. (N)Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher, “all is vanity!”

Fear God and Keep His Commandments

In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out, and [g]arranged (O)many proverbs. 10 The Preacher sought to find (P)delightful words and (Q)words of truth written uprightly.

11 The (R)words of wise men are like (S)goads, and masters of these collections are like [h]well-driven (T)nails; they are given by one Shepherd. 12 But in addition to this, my son, be warned: the making of (U)many books is endless, and much (V)devotion to books is wearying to the flesh.

13 The end of the matter, all that has been heard: (W)fear God and (X)keep His commandments, because this is the end of the matter for (Y)all mankind. 14 For (Z)God will bring every work to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

Philemon

Philemon’s Love and Faith

(A)Paul, (B)a prisoner of (C)Christ Jesus, and (D)Timothy [a]our brother,

To Philemon our beloved brother and (E)fellow worker, and to Apphia [b](F)our sister, and to (G)Archippus our (H)fellow soldier, and to (I)the church in your house: (J)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

(K)I thank my God, always making mention of you in my prayers, because I (L)hear of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the [c]saints; and I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective [d]through the (M)full knowledge of every good thing which is in you [e]for the sake of Christ. For I have come to have much (N)joy and comfort in your love, because the [f]hearts of the [g]saints have been (O)refreshed through you, brother.

Therefore, (P)though I have much boldness in Christ to command you to do what is (Q)proper, yet for love’s sake I rather (R)plead with you—since I am such a person as Paul, [h]the (S)aged, and now also (T)a prisoner of (U)Christ Jesus—

Plea for Onesimus

10 I (V)plead with you for my (W)child [i](X)Onesimus, of whom I became a [j]father in my chains, 11 who formerly was useless to you, but now is useful both to you and to me. 12 I have sent him back to you in person, that is, my very heart, 13 whom I intended to keep with me, so that on your behalf he might minister to me in my (Y)chains for the gospel, 14 but without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your goodness would (Z)not be, in effect, by compulsion but voluntary. 15 For perhaps (AA)he was for this reason separated from you for a while, that you would have him back forever, 16 (AB)no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, (AC)a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both (AD)in the flesh and in the Lord.

17 If then you regard me a (AE)partner, accept him as you would accept me. 18 But if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge that to my account. 19 (AF)I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand, I will repay it ((AG)not to [k]mention to you that you owe to me even your own self as well). 20 Yes, brother, let me benefit from you in the Lord. (AH)Refresh my heart in Christ!

21 (AI)Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, since I know that you will do even more than what I say.

22 And at the same time also prepare me a (AJ)lodging, for (AK)I hope that through (AL)your prayers (AM)I will be graciously given to you.

23 (AN)Epaphras, my (AO)fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you, 24 as do (AP)Mark, (AQ)Aristarchus, (AR)Demas, (AS)Luke, my (AT)fellow workers.

25 (AU)The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be (AV)with your spirit.[l]
