10 “从前，有两个人到主的大殿去祈祷，他们俩其中一个是法利赛人，另一个是税吏。 11 那个法利赛人站在那里，祈祷道∶‘哦哦，上帝啊，我感激您，因为我不像别人那样－我不像强盗、骗子，我不犯通奸罪，我更不像这个税吏， 12 我一周禁食两次，我还奉献我收入的十分之一。’
13 那个税吏远远独自地站着，甚至不敢抬眼望天，可是他却一直在捶胸顿足地说∶‘哦，上帝啊，怜悯我这个有罪的人吧！’ 14 我告诉你们，这个人回去了，就是这个人得到了上帝的认可，而不是另一个人。因为，自命不凡的人将受到贬低；而谦卑的人会受到抬举。”
