13 This is the contribution offering which you shall present: a sixth of the ephah from a[a] homer of wheat, and a[b] sixth of the ephah from a[c] homer of barley. 14 And the quota of the olive oil, the bath of the olive oil, is the tenth part of a bath from a kor, which is ten baths, or a homer—for ten baths are equal to a homer. 15 And one[d] sheep from the flock from among two hundred from the pastures of Israel will be taken as a grain offering and as a burnt offering and as a fellowship offering to make atonement for them,” declares[e] the Lord Yahweh. 16 “All of the people of the land shall join in[f] to this contribution with[g] the prince in Israel.
17 “But on the prince shall be the responsibility for the burnt offerings, and the grain offering, and the libation at the feasts, and at the New Moon festivals, and at[h] the Sabbaths at all of the assemblies of the house of Israel; he shall provide the sin offering, and the grain offering, and the burnt offering, and the fellowship offering to make atonement for the house of Israel. 18 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: ‘On the first month on the first day of the month, you shall take a bull, a calf[i] without defect, and you shall purify the sanctuary. 19 And the priest shall take from the blood of the sin offering, and he shall put it on the doorframe of the temple[j] and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar and on the doorframe of the gate of the inner courtyard. 20 And so you shall do on the seventh day in the month for anyone doing wrong inadvertently or due to ignorance, and so you must make atonement for the temple.[k]
21 In the first month, on the fourteenth[l] day of the month, you shall have the Passover, a feast lasting for seven days,[m] when you shall eat unleavened breads. 22 And the prince shall provide on that day for himself[n] and for all of the people of the land a bull as a sin offering. 23 And during the seven days of the religious feast he shall provide as a burnt offering to Yahweh seven bulls and seven rams without defect for each of the seven days, and as a sin offering a he-goat for each day. 24 And as a grain offering, an ephah for[o] the bull and an ephah for[p] the ram he must provide, and a hin of olive oil for each[q] ephah. 25 In the seventh month, on the fifteenth[r] day of the month, during the feast, he shall provide just as he has for these seven days, as he did for the sin offering, as he did for the burnt offering, and as he did for the grain offering, and as he did for the olive oil.’”
46 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “The gate of the inner courtyard facing east must be shut on[s] the six of the days for work, but on the day of the Sabbath it must be opened and on the day of the new moon it must be opened. 2 And the prince shall come by way of the portico of the gate from the outside, and he shall stand at the doorframe of the gate and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his fellowship offerings, and he shall bow down at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be closed until the evening. 3 And the people of the land will bow down at the doorway of that gate on the Sabbaths and on the new moons before[t] Yahweh.
4 And the burnt offering which the prince will offer to Yahweh on the Sabbath day must be six male lambs without defect and a ram without defect. 5 And the grain offering he will give shall be an ephah for each ram,[u] and for the male lambs the grain offering shall be as much as he wants to give[v] and a hin of olive oil for each ephah.[w] 6 And on the day of the new moon he will offer a bull, a calf[x] without defect and six male lambs and a ram; they must be without defect. 7 And an ephah for each bull and an ephah for the ram he must provide as a grain offering, and also for the male lambs as much as he can afford[y] and a hin of olive oil for each ephah.
8 And when the prince comes, on[z] the way of the portico of the gate he shall come and by this[aa] way he shall go out. 9 And when the people of the land come before[ab] Yahweh at the festivals, the one coming by way of the gate of the north to bow down[ac] must go out by the way of the gate of the south, and the one coming by way of the gate of the south must go out by the way of the gate of the north, so he must not return by the way of the gate by which he came,[ad] but before it he[ae] shall go out opposite it. 10 And the prince will be in the midst of them; he will come in when they come in, and when they go out he will go out.
11 And at the festivals and at the appointed times, the grain offering will be an ephah with a bull and an ephah with the ram and with the male lambs, as much as he wants to give,[af] and a hin of olive oil for each ephah.[ag] 12 And when the prince makes a freewill offering, a burnt offering, or a fellowship offering as a freewill offering to Yahweh, the gate facing east will be open for him. And he must offer his burnt offering and his fellowship offering just as[ah] he does on the day of the Sabbath, and then he must go out and the gate will shut after he goes out.[ai] 13 And a male lamb, a yearling[aj] without defect, he must provide as a burnt offering daily[ak] for Yahweh; every morning[al] he must provide it. 14 And a grain offering he must provide in addition to it every morning,[am] a[an] sixth of an[ao] ephah and a third of a hin of olive oil to moisten the finely milled flour as a grain offering to Yahweh as a perpetual statute.[ap] 15 So they must provide the male lamb and the grain offering and the olive oil every morning[aq] as a regular burnt offering.”[ar]
16 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “If the prince gives a gift to any one from among his sons, it is his inheritance and it will belong[as] to his sons; it is their possession as an inheritance. 17 And if he give a gift from his inheritance to one from among his servants, then it will belong[at] to him until the year of release,[au] and then it will return to the prince. His inheritance with respect to his sons will be only for them. 18 But the prince shall not take from the inheritance of the people to rob[av] them, separating them from their property; from his own property he shall bestow an inheritance on his sons, so that my people will not be driven away, any one, from his property.”
19 Then he brought me through the entrance which was on the side of the gate to the holy chambers[aw] to the priests; the chambers were facing northwards and, look, there was a place at the extreme end westwards. 20 And he said to me, “This is the place where the priests will boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they shall bake the grain offering in order not to bring them out to the outer courtyard to make the people holy. 21 And he brought me to the outer courtyard and led me past the four corners of the courtyard; and look, there was a courtyard in each corner of the courtyard.[ax] 22 In the four corners of the courtyard were small[ay] courtyards forty cubits in length and thirty cubits in width, each with the same measurements[az] for the four of them with corners.[ba] 23 And a row was all around inside[bb] them, and cooking-places were made under the rows of stones[bc] all around. 24 And he said to me, “These are the houses for[bd] cooking, where the ones serving the temple shall cook the sacrifices of the people.”
Be Holy in All Your Conduct
13 Therefore, when you have prepared your minds for action[a] by[b] being self-controlled, put your hope completely in the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former desires you used to conform to[c] in your ignorance, 15 but as the one who called you is holy, you yourselves be holy in all your conduct, 16 for it is written, “You will be holy, because I am[d] holy.”[e][f] 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your temporary residence, 18 because you[g] know that you were redeemed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb 20 who was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has been revealed in these last times for you 21 who through him are believing in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from the heart,[h] 23 because you[i] have been born again, not from perishable seed but imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For
“all flesh is like grass,
and all its glory like the flower of the grass.
The grass withers and the flower falls off,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever[j].”[k]
And this is the word that has been proclaimed to you.
Chosen as Living Stones
2 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, 2 like newborn infants long for the unadulterated spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation, 3 if you have tasted that the Lord is kind,[l] 4 to whom you are drawing near, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and precious in the sight of God. 5 And you yourselves, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it stands in scripture,
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[m]
7 Therefore the honor is for you who believe, but for those who refuse to believe,
“The stone that the builders rejected,
this one has become the cornerstone[n],”
8 and
“A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,”[o]
who stumble because they[p] disobey the word to which also they were consigned. 9 But you are a chosen race,[q] a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s possession, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light, 10 who once were not a people, but now are the people of God, the ones who were not shown mercy, but now are shown mercy.[r]
Heʼ
33 Teach me, O Yahweh, the way of your statutes,
and I will keep it to the end.
34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law
and heed it with my whole heart.
35 Cause me to walk in the path of your commands,
for I delight in it.
36 Incline my heart to your testimonies,
and not to dishonest gain.
37 Turn away my eyes from looking at what is worthless;
revive me in your ways.
38 Fulfill your word[a] to your servant,
which is to bring about a reverence for you.
39 Turn away my disgrace that I dread,
for your ordinances are good.
40 Look, I have longed for your precepts;
revive me in your righteousness.
Waw
41 Let your acts of loyal love also come to me, O Yahweh,
your salvation according to your word.[b]
42 Then I will have an answer for the one who taunts me,
for I trust your word.
43 And do not snatch the word of truth utterly from my mouth,
for I hope in your ordinances.
44 So I will heed your law continually,
forever and ever.
45 And I will go about freely,[c]
for I have sought your precepts.
46 And I will speak of your testimonies before kings,
and will not be ashamed.
47 And I will take delight in your commands,
which I love.
48 And I will lift up my hands[d] to your commands, which I love,
and I will meditate on your statutes.
