Judge me, Lord!
    For I have walked in my integrity.^(A)
In the Lord I trust;
    I do not falter.
² Examine me, Lord, and test me;
    search my heart and mind.^(B)
3 Your mercy is before my eyes;
    I walk guided by your faithfulness.^(C)

⁴ I do not sit with worthless men,
    nor with hypocrites do I mingle.
⁵ I hate an evil assembly;
    with the wicked I do not sit.
⁶ I will wash my hands^[b] in innocence^(D)
    so that I may process around your altar, Lord,
⁷ To hear the sound of thanksgiving,
    and recount all your wondrous deeds.
⁸ Lord, I love the refuge of your house,
    the site of the dwelling-place of your glory.^(E)

⁹ Do not take me away with sinners,
    nor my life with the men of blood,^(F)
10 In whose hands there is a plot,
    their right hands full of bribery.
¹¹ But I walk in my integrity;^(G)
    redeem me, be gracious to me!^(H)
12 My foot stands on level ground;^[c]
    in assemblies I will bless the Lord.^(I)

² Surely, I wait for the Lord;
    who bends down to me and hears my cry,^(A)
3 Draws me up from the pit of destruction,
    out of the muddy clay,^(B)
Sets my feet upon rock,
    steadies my steps,
⁴ And puts a new song^[b] in my mouth,^(C)
    a hymn to our God.
Many shall look on in fear
    and they shall trust in the Lord.
⁵ Blessed the man who sets
    his security in the Lord,
    who turns not to the arrogant
    or to those who stray after falsehood.^(D)
6 You, yes you, O Lord, my God,
    have done many wondrous deeds!
And in your plans for us
    there is none to equal you.^(E)
Should I wish to declare or tell them,
    too many are they to recount.^(F)
7 [c]Sacrifice and offering you do not want;^(G)
    you opened my ears.
Holocaust and sin-offering you do not request;
⁸     so I said, “See; I come
    with an inscribed scroll written upon me.
⁹ I delight to do your will, my God;
    your law is in my inner being!”^(H)
10 When I sing of your righteousness
    in a great assembly,
See, I do not restrain my lips;
    as you, Lord, know.^(I)
11 I do not conceal your righteousness
    within my heart;
I speak of your loyalty and your salvation.
    I do not hide your mercy or faithfulness from a great assembly.
¹² Lord, may you not withhold
    your compassion from me;
May your mercy and your faithfulness
    continually protect me.^(J)

¹³ But evils surround me
    until they cannot be counted.
My sins overtake me,
    so that I can no longer see.
They are more numerous than the hairs of my head;
    my courage fails me.^(K)
14 Lord, graciously rescue me!^(L)
    Come quickly to help me, Lord!
¹⁵ May those who seek to destroy my life
    be shamed and confounded.
Turn back in disgrace
    those who desire my ruin.^(M)
16 Let those who say to me “Aha!”^(N)
    Be made desolate on account of their shame.
¹⁷ While those who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you.
May those who long for your salvation
    always say, “The Lord is great.”^(O)
18 Though I am afflicted and poor,
    my Lord keeps me in mind.
You are my help and deliverer;
    my God, do not delay!

² Do you indeed pronounce justice, O gods;^[c]
    do you judge fairly you children of Adam?^(A)
3 No, you freely engage in crime;
    your hands dispense violence to the earth.

⁴ The wicked have been corrupt since birth;
    liars from the womb, they have gone astray.
^5 [d]Their venom is like the venom of a snake,
    like that of a serpent stopping its ears,^(B)
6 So as not to hear the voice of the charmer
    or the enchanter with cunning spells.

⁷ O God, smash the teeth in their mouths;
    break the fangs of these lions, Lord!^(C)
8 Make them vanish like water flowing away;^(D)
    trodden down, let them wither like grass.^(E)
9 Let them dissolve like a snail that oozes away,^[e]
    like an untimely birth that never sees the sun.^(F)
10 Suddenly, like brambles or thistles,
    have the whirlwind snatch them away.^(G)
11 Then the just shall rejoice to see the vengeance
    and bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.^(H)
12 Then people will say:
    “Truly there is a reward for the just;
    there is a God who is judge on earth!”

² Hear my cry, O God,
    listen to my prayer!
³ From the ends of the earth^[b] I call;
    my heart grows faint.
Raise me up, set me on a rock,
⁴     for you are my refuge,
    a tower of strength against the foe.^(A)
5 Let me dwell in your tent forever,
    take refuge in the shelter of your wings.^(B)

⁶     For you, O God, have heard my vows,
    you have granted me the heritage of those who revere your name.
⁷ Add days to the life of the king;
    may his years be as from generation to generation;^(C)
8 (D)May he reign before God forever;
    send your love and fidelity^[c] to preserve him—^(E)
9 I will duly sing to your name forever,
    fulfill my vows day after day.

² My soul rests in God alone,^(F)
    from whom comes my salvation.
³ God alone is my rock and salvation,
    my fortress; I shall never fall.
⁴ How long will you set yourself against a man?
    You shall all be destroyed,
Like a sagging wall
    or a tumbled down fence!
⁵ Even highly placed people
    plot to overthrow him.
They delight in lies;
    they bless with their mouths,
    but inwardly they curse.^(G)

⁶ My soul, be at rest in God alone,
    from whom comes my hope.
⁷ God alone is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not fall.
⁸ My deliverance and honor are with God,^(H)
    my strong rock;
    my refuge is with God.
⁹ Trust God at all times, my people!
    Pour out your hearts to God our refuge!

¹⁰ Mortals are a mere breath,
    the sons of man but an illusion;^(I)
On a balance they rise;^[f]
    together they weigh nothing.
¹¹ Do not trust in extortion;
    in plunder put no empty hope.
On wealth that increases,
    do not set your heart.^(J)
12 [g]One thing God has said;
    two things I have heard:^(K)
Strength belongs to God;
¹³     so too, my Lord, does mercy,
For you repay each man
    according to his deeds.^(L)

² O God, hear my anguished voice;
    from a dreadful foe protect my life.
³ Hide me from the malicious crowd,
    the mob of evildoers.
⁴ They sharpen their tongues like swords,
    bend their bows of poison words.^(A)
5 They shoot at the innocent from ambush,
    they shoot him in a moment and do not fear.
⁶ They resolve on their wicked plan;
    they conspire to set snares;
    they say: “Who will see us?”
⁷ They devise wicked schemes,
    conceal the schemes they devise;
    the designs of their hearts are hidden.^(B)

⁸ God shoots an arrow at them;
    in a moment they are struck down.^(C)
9 They are brought down by their own tongues;
    all who see them flee.^(D)
10 Every person fears and proclaims God’s actions,
    they ponder his deeds.
¹¹ The righteous rejoices and takes refuge in the Lord;
    all the upright give praise.^(E)
