The King Trusts in Yahweh
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
21 O Yahweh, in Your strength the king will (A)be glad,
And in Your [a]salvation how greatly he will rejoice!
2 You have (B)given him his heart’s desire,
And You have not withheld the request of his lips. [b]Selah.
3 For You (C)meet him with the blessings of good things;
You set a (D)crown of fine gold on his head.
4 He asked life of You,
You (E)gave it to him,
(F)Length of days forever and ever.
5 His (G)glory is great through Your [c]salvation,
(H)Splendor and majesty You bestow upon him.
6 For You make him [d]most (I)blessed forever;
You make him joyful (J)with gladness in Your presence.
7 For the king (K)trusts in Yahweh,
And through the lovingkindness of the Most High (L)he will not be shaken.
8 Your hand will (M)find out all your enemies;
Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9 You will make them (N)as a fiery oven in the time of your [e]anger;
Yahweh will (O)swallow them up in His wrath,
And (P)fire will devour them.
10 Their [f]offspring You will destroy from the earth,
And their (Q)seed from among the sons of men.
11 Though they [g](R)intended evil against You
And (S)devised a scheme,
They will not succeed.
12 For You will (T)make them turn their back;
You will [h]aim (U)with Your bowstrings at their faces.
13 Be exalted, O Yahweh, in Your strength;
We will (V)sing and praise Your might.
Why Have You Forsaken Me?
For the choir director. According to [i]Aijeleth Hashshahar. A Psalm of David.
22 (W)My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?
[j](X)Far from my salvation are the words of my [k](Y)groaning.
2 O my God, I (Z)call by day, but You do not answer;
And by night, but [l]I have no rest.
3 Yet (AA)You are holy,
[m]Enthroned upon (AB)the praises of Israel.
4 In You our fathers (AC)trusted;
They trusted and You (AD)rescued them.
5 To You they cried out and were granted escape;
(AE)In You they trusted and were not [n]disappointed.
6 But I am a (AF)worm and not a man,
A (AG)reproach of men and (AH)despised by the people.
7 All who see me (AI)mock me;
They [o]smack their lip, they (AJ)wag their head, saying,
8 “[p]Commit yourself to Yahweh; (AK)let Him rescue him;
Let Him deliver him, because He delights in him.”
9 Yet You are He who (AL)brought me out of the womb;
You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
10 Upon You I was cast (AM)from [q]birth;
You have been my God from my mother’s womb.
11 (AN)Be not far from me, for [r]distress is near;
For there is (AO)none to help.
12 Many (AP)bulls have surrounded me;
Strong bulls of (AQ)Bashan have encircled me.
13 They (AR)open wide their mouth at me,
As a (AS)lion that tears and roars.
14 I am (AT)poured out like water,
And all my (AU)bones are out of joint;
My (AV)heart is like wax;
It is melted within [s]me.
15 My (AW)strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And (AX)my tongue cleaves to my jaws;
And You (AY)lay me [t]in the dust of death.
16 For (AZ)dogs have surrounded me;
[u]A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
[v]They (BA)pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I count all my bones.
(BB)They look, they stare at me;
18 They (BC)divide my garments among them,
And for my clothing they cast lots.
19 But You, O Yahweh, (BD)be not far off;
O my Strength, (BE)hasten to my help.
20 Deliver my [w]soul from (BF)the sword,
My (BG)only life from the [x]power of the dog.
21 Save me from the mouth of the (BH)lion;
From the horns of the (BI)wild oxen You (BJ)have answered me.
22 I will surely (BK)recount Your name to my brothers;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 (BL)You who fear Yahweh, praise Him;
All you seed of Jacob, (BM)glorify Him,
And (BN)stand in awe of Him, all you seed of Israel.
24 For He has (BO)not despised and He has not abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
And He has not (BP)hidden His face from him;
But (BQ)when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
25 Of You is (BR)my praise in the great assembly;
I shall (BS)pay my vows before those who fear Him.
26 The [y]afflicted will eat and (BT)be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will (BU)praise Yahweh.
May your (BV)heart live forever!
27 All the (BW)ends of the earth will remember and turn to Yahweh,
And all the (BX)families of the nations will worship before [z]You.
28 For the (BY)kingdom is Yahweh’s
And He (BZ)rules over the nations.
29 All the [aa](CA)prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,
All those who (CB)go down to the dust will bow before Him,
Even he who [ab](CC)cannot keep his soul alive.
30 (CD)Their seed will serve Him;
It will be recounted about the Lord to (CE)the coming generation.
31 They will come and (CF)will declare His righteousness
To a people (CG)who will be born, that He has done it.
Yahweh Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.
23 Yahweh is my (CH)shepherd,
I [ac]shall (CI)not want.
2 He makes me lie down in (CJ)green pastures;
He (CK)leads me beside [ad](CL)quiet waters.
3 He (CM)restores my soul;
He (CN)guides me in the [ae](CO)paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I (CP)walk through the [af]valley of the shadow of death,
I (CQ)fear no [ag]evil, for (CR)You are with me;
Your (CS)rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You (CT)prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You [ah]have (CU)anointed my head with oil;
My (CV)cup overflows.
6 [ai]Surely (CW)goodness and lovingkindness will [aj]pursue me all the days of my life,
And I will [ak](CX)dwell in the house of Yahweh [al]forever.
The King of Glory
Of David. A Psalm.
24 The (CY)earth is Yahweh’s, as well as its fullness,
The (CZ)world, and those who dwell in it.
2 For He has (DA)founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3 Who may (DB)ascend into the (DC)mountain of Yahweh?
And who may rise in His holy (DD)place?
4 He who has (DE)innocent hands and a (DF)pure heart,
Who has not (DG)lifted up his soul [am]to worthlessness
And has not (DH)sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall lift up a (DI)blessing from Yahweh
And [an](DJ)righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 [ao]This is the generation of those who (DK)seek Him,
Who seek Your face—pay heed O Jacob. [ap]Selah.
7 (DL)Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O [aq]ancient doors,
That the King of (DM)glory may come in!
8 Who is this King of glory?
Yahweh (DN)strong and mighty,
Yahweh (DO)mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift yourselves up, O [ar]ancient doors,
That the King of (DP)glory may come in!
10 Who is He, this King of glory?
Yahweh of (DQ)hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah.
