Disciples’ Literal New Testament (DLNT)
Version
Revelation 1-3

The revelation[a] of [b] Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His slaves the things which must take-place quickly, and He signified[c], having sent-forth through His angel to His slave John, who testified-to the word of God and[d] the testimony of Jesus Christ— to all that he saw. Blessed is the one reading[e], and the ones hearing the words of this prophecy and keeping the things having been written in it, for the time is near.

John, to the seven churches in Asia: Grace to you and peace from the One Who is and Who was and Who is coming, and from the seven Spirits[f] that are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ— the Faithful Witness, the Firstborn of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth.

To the One loving us and having released[g] us from our sins by His blood— and He made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father— to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever, amen. Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him— even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth[h] will beat-their-breasts over Him. Yes! Amen!

I am the Alpha and the Omega”, says the Lord God, “the One Who is and Who was and Who is coming, the Almighty”.

I, John, Heard a Voice Say, Write What You See And Send It To The Seven Churches

I, John, your brother and co-partner in the affliction and kingdom and endurance in[i] Jesus, came-to-be on the island being called Patmos because of the word of God and[j] the testimony of Jesus. 10 I came-to-be in the Spirit[k] on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like [the sound] of a trumpet, 11 saying “Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches— to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamum, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea”. 12 And I turned to see the voice which was speaking with me.

I Saw One Like a Son of Man Amidst Seven Lampstands, Which Are Seven Churches

And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands. 13 And in the midst of the lampstands I saw One resembling[l] a son[m] of man having been dressed-in a robe reaching-to-the-feet, and having been girded-with a golden belt at the breasts. 14 And His head and hair were white like white wool, like snow. And His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 And His feet were resembling brass[n], like something having been refined[o] in a furnace. And His voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 And He was holding seven stars in His right hand. And a sharp double-edged sword was coming-out of His mouth. And His face[p] was like the sun shines in its power. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as-though dead. And He placed His right hand upon me, saying “Do not be fearing. I am the First and the Last, 18 and the One living. And I became dead, and behold— I am living forever and ever. And I have the keys of death and Hades. 19 Therefore write the things which you saw, and[q] the things which are, and the things which are destined[r] to take place after these things. 20 As to the mystery of the seven stars which you saw upon My right hand and the seven golden lampstands— the seven stars are angels[s] of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are seven churches.

Write To Ephesus: You Left Your First Love. Repent And Do The First Works

To the angel of the church in Ephesus, write— These things says the One holding-on-to the seven stars in His right hand, the One walking in the midst of the seven golden lampstands. I know your works and[t] labor and your endurance, and that you cannot bear-with evil ones. And you tested the ones calling themselves apostles (and they are not) and you found them to be false. And you have endurance, and bore-up for the sake of My name, and have not become-weary. But I have against you that you left your first love. Therefore, be remembering[u] from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works. Otherwise, I am coming to you. And I will move[v] your lampstand from its place unless you repent. But this you have— that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To the one overcoming[w], I will give him authority to eat from the tree of life which is in the paradise of God.

Write To Smyrna: You Are Going To Suffer. Be Faithful

“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna, write— These things says the First and the Last Who became dead and came-to-life. I know your affliction, and[x] poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy by the ones saying that they are Jews (and they are not), but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not be fearing at all the things which you are about to suffer. Behold— the devil is going to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested. And you will have affliction for ten days. Be[y] faithful until[z] death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. The one overcoming will never be harmed by the second death.

Write To Pergamum: You Have Some Holding On To False Teachings. Repent

12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum, write— These things says the One having the sharp double-edged sword. 13 I know where you dwell: where Satan’s throne is. And you are holding-on-to My name. And you did not deny My faith[aa], even during the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you where Satan dwells. 14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there ones holding-on-to the teaching of Balaam, who was teaching Balak to put a cause-of-falling before the sons of Israel to eat foods-sacrificed-to-idols and to commit-sexual-immorality. 15 So you also have ones holding-on-to the teaching of the Nicolaitans likewise. 16 Therefore repent. Otherwise, I am coming to you[ab] quickly. And I will fight[ac] against them with the sword of My mouth. 17 Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To the one overcoming— I will give him some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white pebble. And having been written upon the pebble is a new name which no one knows except the one[ad] receiving it.

Write To Thyatira: You Are Tolerating a False Teacher. Repent From Her Works

18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira, write— These things says the Son of God, the One having His eyes like a flame of fire and His feet resembling brass[ae]. 19 I know your works and[af] love and faith[ag] and service and your endurance. And your last works are greater[ah] than the first. 20 But I have against you that you are tolerating the woman Jezebel— the one calling herself a prophet. And she is teaching and misleading My slaves to commit-sexual-immorality and eat foods-sacrificed-to-idols. 21 And I gave her time in order that she might repent. And she is not willing to repent from her sexual-immorality. 22 Behold— I am throwing[ai] her into a bed[aj], and the ones committing-adultery with her into a great affliction, unless they repent from her works. 23 And I will kill her children[ak] with a death[al]. And all the churches will know[am] that I am the One searching[an] minds and hearts, and I will give to you, to each one, according to your works. 24 But I say to you, to the rest in Thyatira— all-who are not holding this teaching, who did not know the deep things of Satan (as they say): I am not putting[ao] another burden upon you. 25 However, hold-on-to what you have until whenever I come. 26 And the one overcoming and[ap] the one keeping My works[aq] until the end— I will give him authority over the nations. 27 And he will shepherd[ar] them with an iron rod like clay vessels are broken-to-pieces, 28 as I also[as] have received from My Father. And I will give him the morning[at] star. 29 Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

Write To Sardis: You Are Alive In Name Only. Remember What You Received. Repent

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis, write— These things says the One having the seven Spirits[au] of God and the seven stars. I know your works: that you have a name[av] that you are alive[aw], and you are dead. Be[ax] keeping-watch, and establish[ay] the remaining things which were-about-to die, for I have not found your works fulfilled[az] in the sight of My God. Therefore be remembering how you have received and you heard, and be keeping it, and repent. Therefore if you do not keep-watch, I will come like a thief. And you will never know at what hour I will come upon you. But you have a few names[ba] in Sardis who did not stain their garments. And they will walk with Me in white garments, because they are worthy. The one overcoming will in-this-manner clothe himself in white garments. And I will never[bb] wipe-out[bc] his name from the book of life. And I will confess[bd] his name before My Father and before His angels. Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

Write To Philadelphia: You Have Kept My Word. I Am Giving You an Opened Door

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia, write— These things says the Holy One, the True One, the One having the key[be] of David, the One opening and no one will shut, and shutting and no one opens. I know your works[bf]. Behold— I have given before you an opened door[bg] (which, no one is able to shut it). Because[bh] you have a little[bi] power[bj], and you kept My word, and you did not deny My name, behold— I am giving some[bk] from the synagogue of Satan, the ones saying that they are Jews (and they are not), but they are lying. Behold— I will make them so that they will come and worship[bl] before your feet, and they may know that I loved you. 10 Because you kept the word of My[bm] endurance, I also will keep[bn] you from[bo] the hour of testing, the hour going-to come upon the whole world to test the ones dwelling upon the earth[bp]. 11 I am coming quickly. Be holding-on-to what you have in order that no one may take your crown. 12 The one overcoming— I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will never go outside again. And I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God— the new Jerusalem, the one coming down out of heaven from My God— and My new name. 13 Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

Write To Laodicea: You Are Lukewarm. Get What You Need From Me. Repent

14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea, write— These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning[bq] of the creation of God. 15 I know your works: that you are neither cold nor hot. O-that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am about-to spew you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say that “I am a rich one, and I have become-rich, and I have a need for nothing”, and you do not know that you are the one wretched and pitiable and poor and blind and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold having been refined by fire in order that you may become-rich, and white garments in order that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed, and eye-salve to rub-in your eyes in order that you may see. 19 I rebuke and discipline[br] all whom I love. Therefore be zealous, and repent. 20 Behold— I stand at the door. And I am knocking. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I also[bs] will come-in to him. And I will have-dinner with him, and he with Me. 21 The one overcoming— I will give him authority to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches”.
