Beginning
4 After this, I looked. And behold, a door was open in Heaven. And the first voice which I heard was, as it were, of a trumpet; talking with me, saying, “Come up here! And I will show you things which must be done hereafter.”
2 And immediately, I was ravished in the Spirit. And behold, a throne was set in Heaven. And One sat upon the throne.
3 And He Who sat looked like a jasper stone, and a sardius. And there was a rainbow around the throne, which looked like an emerald.
4 And around the throne were 24 seats. And upon the seats I saw 24 elders sitting, clothed in white raiment. And on their heads were crowns of gold.
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightning and thunder and voices. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne (which are the seven spirits of God).
6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four beasts, full of eyes in front and behind.
7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf. And the third beast had a face as a man. And the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8 And each of the four beasts had six wings around him. And they were full of eyes within. And they ceased neither day nor night, saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty! Who was and Who is and Who is to come!”
9 And when those beasts gave glory and honor and thanks to Him Who sat on the throne, Who lives forever and ever,
10 the 24 elders fell down before Him Who sat on the throne and worshipped Him Who lives for evermore; and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11 “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power! For You have created all things! And for Your will’s sake they are and have been created!”
5 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat upon the throne, a Book; written within and sealed on the backside with seven seals.
2 And I saw a strong angel who preached with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the Book and to loosen the seals thereof?”
3 And no one in Heaven or on Earth, or under the Earth, was able to open the Book or to look at it.
4 Then I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the Book or to look at it.
5 And one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion Which is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered and can open the Book and loosen the seven seals thereof.”
6 Then I beheld. And lo, in the midst of the throne - and of the four beasts - and in the midst of the elders stood a Lamb, as though He had been killed; Which had seven horns and seven eyes (which are the seven spirits of God, sent into all the world).
7 And He came and took the Book out of the right hand of Him who sat upon the throne.
8 And when He had taken the Book, the four beasts and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb, everyone having harps and golden vials full of odors (which are the prayers of the saints).
9 And they sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the Book and to open the seals thereof! Because You were killed and have redeemed us to God by Your blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 and have made us kings and priests to our God! And we shall reign on the Earth!”
11 Then I beheld. And I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and around the beasts and the elders. And there were ten thousand times ten thousand, and a thousand thousands,
12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb Who was killed to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
13 And all the creatures which are in Heaven and on the Earth and under the Earth and in the sea, and all that are in them, heard me saying, “Praise and honor and glory and power be to Him Who sits upon the throne! And to the Lamb! Forevermore!”
14 And the four beasts said, “Amen!” And the 24 elders fell down and worshipped Him Who lives forevermore.
6 After, I beheld when the Lamb opened one of the seals. And I heard one of the four beasts say with a voice like thunder, “Come!”
2 Therefore, I looked. And lo, there was a white horse. And he who sat on him had a bow. And a crown was given to him. And he went forth, conquering, so that he might overcome.
3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, “Come!”
4 And another red horse went out. And power was given to him who sat upon it to take peace from the Earth, so that they should kill one another. And there was given to him a great sword.
5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, “Come!” Then I looked and lo, a black horse. And he who sat on him had a scales in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, “A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny, and the oil and wine do not damage!”
7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, “Come!”
8 And I looked. And behold, a pale horse. And his name who sat on him was Death. And Hell followed after him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the Earth; to kill with sword and with hunger and with death and with beasts of the Earth.
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw, under the altar, the souls of those who were killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they maintained.
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Lord - Who are holy and true - do You not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the Earth?”
11 And long white robes were given to everyone. And it was said to them that they should rest for a little season until their fellow servants, and their brothers who would be killed just as they were, were fulfilled.
12 And when he had opened the sixth seal, I looked. And lo, there was a great earthquake. And the Sun was as black as sackcloth made of hair. And the Moon was like blood.
13 And the stars of heaven fell to the Earth, as a fig-tree casts her green figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.
14 And heaven departed away - as a scroll when it is rolled - and every mountain and isle were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the Earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in dens and among the rocks of the mountains;
16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us! And hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!
17 “For the great Day of His wrath has come! And who can stand!?”
7 And after that, I saw four angels stand on the four corners of the Earth, holding the four winds of the Earth, so that the winds would not blow on the Earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel come up from the east, who had the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom power was given to hurt the Earth and the sea, saying,
3 “Do not hurt the Earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”
4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. And there were sealed 144 thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Out of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Asher were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Naphtali were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasseh were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Zebulun were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
9 After these things I looked. And lo, a great multitude (which no man could number) of all nations and tribes and people and tongues stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with long white robes and palms in their hands.
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation comes from our God Who sits upon the throne, and from the Lamb.”
11 And all the angels stood around the throne, and around the elders, and the four beasts. And they fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12 Saying, “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and might be to our God for evermore! Amen!”
13 And one of the elders spoke, saying to me, “Who are these who are clothed in long white robes? And from where have they come?”
14 And I said to him, “Lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are those who came out of great tribulation and have washed their long robes and have made their long robes white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore, they are in the presence of the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His Temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, nor thirst anymore, nor shall the Sun fall upon them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb, Who is in the midst of the throne, shall govern them and shall lead them to the lively fountains of waters. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
8 And when He had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in Heaven for about half an hour.
2 And I saw the seven angels who stood before God. And to them were given seven trumpets.
3 Then another angel came and stood before the altar, having a golden censer. And much incense was given to him; which he would offer, with the prayers of all saints, upon the golden altar which is before the throne.
4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.
5 And the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and cast it into the Earth. And there were voices and thunderings and lightnings and an earthquake.
6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to blow the trumpets.
7 So, the first angel blew the trumpet. And there was hail and fire, mingled with blood. And they were cast into the Earth. And a third of the trees was burnt. And all green grass was burnt.
8 And the second angel blew the trumpet. And (as it were) a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea. And a third of the sea became blood.
9 And a third of the creatures which were in the sea (and had life) died. And a third of the ships were destroyed.
10 Then the third angel blew the trumpet. And there fell a great star from Heaven, burning like a torch. And it fell into a third of the rivers, and into the fountains of waters.
11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood. Therefore, a third of the waters became wormwood. And many men died of the waters because they were made bitter.
12 And the fourth angel blew the trumpet. And a third of the Sun was struck, and a third of the Moon, and a third of the stars; so that a third of them was darkened. And the day was struck, so that a third of it could not shine; and likewise the night.
13 And I looked, and heard one angel flying through the midst of Heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the Earth because of the sounds to come of the trumpet of the three angels who are yet to blow the trumpets!”
