Nehemiah 10-11

10 Now those who sealed were Nehemiah the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah and Zidkijah,

Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah,

Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah,

Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch,

Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah,

Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,

Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,

Maaziah, Bilgai and Shemaiah. These are the priests.

And the Levites were Jeshua, the son of Azaniah, Binnui, of the sons of Henadad and Kadmiel.

10 And their brethren were Shebaniah, Hodijah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanun,

11 Micha, Rehob, Hashabiah,

12 Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah,

13 Hodijah, Bani and Beninu.

14 The chief of the people were Parosh, Pahath-Moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani,

15 Bunni, Azgad, Bebai,

16 Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin,

17 Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur,

18 Hodijah, Hashum, Bezai,

19 Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai,

20 Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir,

21 Meshezabeel, Zadok, Jaddua,

22 Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah,

23 Hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub,

24 Hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek,

25 Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah,

26 And Ahijah, Hanan, Anan,

27 Malluch, Harim and Baanah.

28 And the rest of the people were the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all who were separated from the people of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons and their daughters, all who could understand.

29 The chief of them received it for their brethren. And they came to the curse and to the oath, to walk in God’s Law which was given by Moses, the servant of God, to observe and do all the Commandments of the LORD our God, and His Judgments and His Statutes,

30 and that we would neither give our daughters to the people of the land nor take their daughters for our sons,

31 and that if the people of the land brought wares or any grain to sell on the Sabbath, we would not take it from them on the Sabbath or on the holy days, and that we would let the seventh year be free, and the debts of every person.

32 And we made statutes for ourselves, to give one third of a shekel every year for the service of the House of our God,

33 for the Showbread and for the daily Offerings and for the daily Burnt Offerings, the Sabbaths, the new moons, for the solemn Feasts, and for the things that were sanctified, and for the Sin Offerings, to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the House of our God.

34 We also cast lots for the offering of the wood — the priests, the Levites and the people — to bring it into the House of our God, according to the Houses of our fathers, each year at the times appointed, to burn it upon the Altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the Law,

35 and to bring the firstfruits of our land, and the first of all the fruits of all trees, year by year, into the House of the LORD,

36 and the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the Law, and the firstborn of our bulls, and of our sheep, to bring it into the House of our God, to the priests who minister in the House of our God.

37 And that we should bring the firstfruit of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of every tree, of wine and of oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the House of our God, and the tithes of our land to the Levites, so that the Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our work.

38 And the Priest, the son of Aaron, shall be with the Levites when the Levites take tithes. And the Levites shall bring up one tenth of the tithes to the House of our God, to the chambers of the treasure house.

39 For the children of Israel, and the children of Levi, shall bring up the offering of the grain, of the wine, and of the oil, to the chambers. And the vessels of the Sanctuary shall be there, and the priests who minister, and the gatekeepers, and the singers. And we will not forsake the House of our God.

11 And the rulers of the people dwelt in Jerusalem. Also, the other people cast lots to bring one out of ten to dwell in Jerusalem, the holy city. And nine-tenths were to dwell in other cities.

And the people blessed all the men who were willing to dwell in Jerusalem.

These, now, are the chief of the province who dwelt in Jerusalem. But in the cities of Judah, everyone dwelt in his own possession (in their cities of Israel, the priests, the Levites, the Nethinim, and the sons of Solomon’s servants).

And some of the children of Judah and of Benjamin dwelt in Jerusalem. Of the sons of Judah were Athaiah the son of Uziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel. Of the sons of Perez were

All the sons of Perez who dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred sixty-eight valiant men.

These also are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah.

And after them were Gabbai and Sallai (nine hundred twenty-eight).

And Joel the son of Zichri was governor over them. And Judah, the son of Senuah, was the second over the city.

10 Of the priests were Jedaiah, the son of Joiarib, Jachin,

11 Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok and the son of Meraioth. The son of Ahitub was chief of the House of God.

12 And their brethren who did the work in the Temple were eight hundred twenty-two. Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchijah,

13 and his brethren, were chief of the fathers (two hundred forty-two) with Amashsai the son of Azarel, the son of Ahazai, the son of Meshilemoth, the son of Immer,

14 and their brethren, valiant men (one hundred twenty-eight). And their overseer was Zabdiel the son of Haggedolim.

15 And of the Levites were Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni.

16 And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, were over the works of the House of God outside.

17 And Mattaniah, the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph was the chief to begin the thanksgiving and prayer. And Bakbukiah (the second of his brethren) and Abda, the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

18 All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred eighty-four.

19 And the gatekeepers — Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren who kept the [h]gates — were one hundred twenty-two.

20 And the remnant of Israel, of the priests and of the Levites, dwelt in all the cities of Judah, everyone in his inheritance.

21 And the Nethinim dwelt in the fortress. And Ziha and Gispa were over the Nethinim.

22 And the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi, the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, singers were over the work of the House of God.

23 For it was the king’s commandment concerning them that faithful provision should be made for the singers every day.

24 And Pethahiah, the son of Meshezabel, of the sons of Zerah, the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

25 And in the villages in their lands, some of the children of Judah dwelt in Kirjath Arba, and in its villages, and in Dibon, and in its villages, and in Jekabzeel, and in its villages,

26 and in Jeshua, and in Moladah, and in Beth Pelet,

27 and in Hazar Shual, and in Beersheba, and in its villages,

28 and in Ziklag, and in Mekonah, and in its villages,

36 And of the Levites were divisions in Judah and in Benjamin.
