Beginning
Give Justice to Me, O Yahweh
Of David.
26 (A)Give justice to me, O Yahweh, for I have (B)walked in my integrity,
And I have (C)trusted in Yahweh; (D)I will not waver.
2 (E)Test me, O Yahweh, and try me;
(F)Refine my [a]mind and my heart.
3 For Your (G)lovingkindness is before my eyes,
And I have (H)walked in Your [b]truth.
4 I do not (I)sit with worthless men,
And I will not go with [c](J)pretenders.
5 I (K)hate the assembly of evildoers,
And I will not sit with the wicked.
6 I shall (L)wash my hands in innocence,
So I will go around (M)Your altar, O Yahweh,
7 In order to proclaim with the voice of (N)thanksgiving
And to recount all Your [d]wondrous deeds.
8 O Yahweh, I (O)love the habitation of Your house
And the place [e]where Your (P)glory dwells.
9 (Q)Do not [f]take my soul away along with sinners,
Nor my life with (R)men of bloodshed,
10 In whose hands is a (S)wicked scheme,
And whose right hand is full of (T)bribes.
11 But as for me, I shall (U)walk in my integrity;
(V)Redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 (W)My foot stands on (X)level ground;
In the (Y)congregations I shall bless Yahweh.
Yahweh Is My Light and My Salvation
Of David.
27 Yahweh is my (Z)light and my (AA)salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
Yahweh is the [g](AB)strong defense of my life;
(AC)Whom shall I dread?
2 When evildoers came upon me to (AD)devour my flesh,
My adversaries and my enemies, they (AE)stumbled and fell.
3 Though a (AF)host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me,
In this I (AG)trust.
4 (AH)One thing I have asked from Yahweh, that I shall seek:
That I may (AI)dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life,
To behold (AJ)the [h]beauty of Yahweh
And to (AK)inquire in His temple.
5 For in the (AL)day of calamity He will (AM)conceal me in His shelter;
In the secret place of His tent He will (AN)hide me;
He will (AO)lift me up on a rock.
6 And now (AP)my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent (AQ)sacrifices with loud shouts of joy;
I will (AR)sing, and I will sing praises to Yahweh.
7 (AS)Hear, O Yahweh, when I call with my voice,
And be gracious to me and (AT)answer me.
8 On Your behalf my heart says, “(AU)Seek My face,”
“Your face, O Yahweh, (AV)I shall seek.”
9 (AW)Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your slave away in (AX)anger;
You have been (AY)my help;
(AZ)Do not abandon me and do not (BA)forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 [i]For my father and (BB)my mother have forsaken me,
But (BC)Yahweh will take me up.
11 (BD)Instruct me in Your way, O Yahweh,
And lead me in a (BE)level path
Because of [j]my foes.
12 Do not give me over to the [k](BF)desire of my adversaries,
For (BG)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as (BH)breathe out violence.
13 [l]I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the (BI)goodness of Yahweh
In the (BJ)land of the living.
14 (BK)Hope in Yahweh;
Be (BL)strong and let your heart take courage;
Hope in Yahweh.
Yahweh Is My Strength and My Shield
Of David.
28 To You, O Yahweh, I call;
My (BM)rock, do not be silent to me,
Lest if You (BN)are hesitant toward me,
I will become like those who (BO)go down to the pit.
2 Hear the (BP)voice of my supplications when I cry to You for help,
When I (BQ)lift up my hands (BR)toward [m]Your holy (BS)sanctuary.
3 (BT)Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with workers of iniquity,
Who (BU)speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.
4 Give to them (BV)according to their work and according to the evil of their actions;
Give to them according to the deeds of their hands;
Return their dealings upon them.
5 Because they (BW)do not regard the works of Yahweh
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.
6 Blessed be Yahweh,
Because He (BX)has heard the voice of my supplications.
7 Yahweh is my (BY)strength and my (BZ)shield;
My heart (CA)trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore (CB)my heart exults,
And with (CC)my song I shall thank Him.
8 Yahweh is [n]their (CD)strength,
And He is a [o](CE)strong defense of salvation to His anointed.
9 (CF)Save Your people and bless (CG)Your inheritance;
Be their (CH)shepherd also, and (CI)carry them forever.
The Voice of Yahweh
A Psalm of David.
29 (CJ)Ascribe to Yahweh, O [p]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of His name;
Worship Yahweh (CK)in the splendor of holiness.
3 The (CL)voice of Yahweh is upon the waters;
The God of glory (CM)thunders,
Yahweh is over [q](CN)many waters.
4 The voice of Yahweh is (CO)powerful,
The voice of Yahweh is full of splendor.
5 The voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars;
Indeed, Yahweh breaks in pieces (CP)the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon (CQ)skip like a calf,
And (CR)Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of Yahweh hews out [r]flames of fire.
8 The voice of Yahweh causes the wilderness to tremble;
Yahweh causes the wilderness of (CS)Kadesh to tremble.
9 The voice of Yahweh makes (CT)the deer to calve
And strips the forests bare;
And (CU)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”
10 Yahweh sat enthroned over the (CV)flood;
Indeed, Yahweh sits as (CW)King forever.
11 [s]Yahweh will give (CX)strength to His people;
[t]Yahweh will bless His people with (CY)peace.
You Have Turned My Mourning into Dancing
A Psalm. A Song at the Dedication of the House. Of David.
30 I will (CZ)exalt You, O Yahweh, for You have (DA)lifted me up,
And have not let my (DB)enemies be glad over me.
2 O Yahweh my God,
I (DC)cried to You for help, and You (DD)healed me.
3 O Yahweh, You have (DE)brought up my soul from Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [u]that I would not (DF)go down to the pit.
4 (DG)Sing praise to Yahweh, you (DH)His holy ones,
And (DI)give thanks for the (DJ)remembrance of His holy name.
5 For (DK)His anger is but for a moment,
His (DL)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (DM)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
6 Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (DN)never be shaken.”
7 O Yahweh, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (DO)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
8 To You, O Yahweh, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my blood, if I (DP)go down to the pit?
Will the (DQ)dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?
10 “(DR)Hear, O Yahweh, and be gracious to me;
O Yahweh, be my (DS)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (DT)my mourning into dancing;
You have (DU)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (DV)gladness,
12 That my [v](DW)glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Yahweh my God, I will (DX)give thanks to You forever.
Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
31 (DY)In You, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge;
Let me never (DZ)be ashamed;
(EA)In Your righteousness protect me.
2 (EB)Incline Your ear to me, deliver me quickly;
Be to me a (EC)rock of [w]strength,
A fortress to save me.
3 For You are my [x](ED)high rock and my fortress;
For (EE)Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.
4 You will (EF)bring me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my (EG)strength.
5 (EH)Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have (EI)ransomed me, O Yahweh, (EJ)God of truth.
6 I hate those who (EK)regard worthless idols,
But I (EL)trust in Yahweh.
7 I will (EM)rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness,
Because You have (EN)seen my affliction;
You have known the troubles of my soul,
8 And You have not (EO)given me over into the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a large place.
9 Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, for (EP)I am in distress;
My (EQ)eye is wasted away from grief, (ER)my soul and [y]my body also.
10 For my life is worn down with (ES)sorrow
And my years with sighing;
My (ET)strength fails because of my iniquity,
And (EU)my bones waste away.
11 Among all my adversaries, I have become a (EV)reproach,
Especially to my (EW)neighbors,
And an object of dread to my acquaintances;
Those who see me in the street flee from me.
12 I am (EX)forgotten like a dead man—out of [z]mind—
I am like a broken vessel.
13 For I have heard [aa](EY)the bad report of many,
(EZ)Terror is on every side;
While they (FA)took counsel together against me,
They (FB)schemed to take my life.
14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Yahweh,
I say, “(FC)You are my God.”
15 My (FD)times are in Your hand;
(FE)Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue me.
16 Make Your (FF)face to shine upon Your slave;
(FG)Save me in Your lovingkindness.
17 O Yahweh, let me not be (FH)put to shame, for I call upon You;
Let the (FI)wicked be put to shame, let them (FJ)be silent in Sheol.
18 Let the (FK)lying lips be mute,
Which (FL)speak arrogantly against the righteous
With lofty pride and contempt.
19 How great is Your (FM)goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have worked for those who (FN)take refuge in You,
(FO)Before the sons of men!
20 You hide them in the (FP)secret place of Your presence from the (FQ)conspiracies of man;
You keep them secretly in a [ab]shelter from the (FR)strife of tongues.
21 (FS)Blessed be Yahweh,
For He has made (FT)marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a besieged (FU)city.
22 As for me, (FV)I said in my alarm,
“I am (FW)cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless, You (FX)heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried to You for help.
