Psalm 61-62

Lead Me to the Rock

For the choir director. On a stringed instrument. Of David.

61 (A)Hear my cry of lamentation, O God;
(B)Give heed to my prayer.
From the (C)end of the earth I call to You when my heart is (D)faint;
Lead me to (E)the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a (F)refuge for me,
A (G)tower of strength before the enemy.
Let me (H)sojourn in Your tent forever;
Let me (I)take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. [a]Selah.

For You, O God, have heard my (J)vows;
You have given me the inheritance of those who (K)fear Your name.
You will (L)add days to the king’s [b]life;
His years will be from generation to generation.
He will sit enthroned (M)before God forever;
Appoint (N)lovingkindness and truth that they may guard him.
So I will (O)sing praise to Your name forever,
As I (P)pay my vows day by day.

God Is a Refuge for Us

For the choir director. According to [c]Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

62 (Q)Surely my soul waits in silence for God;
From Him (R)is my salvation.
Surely He is my (S)rock and my salvation,
My (T)stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

How long will you assail a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a (U)leaning wall, like a fence thrust down?
Surely they have counseled to thrust him down from his high position;
They (V)find pleasure in falsehood;
They (W)bless with [d]their mouth,
But inwardly they curse. [e]Selah.

Surely (X)wait in silence for God, O my soul,
For my hope is from Him.
Surely He is (Y)my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my (Z)salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my (AA)refuge is in God.
(AB)Trust in Him at all times, O people;
(AC)Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Surely [f]men of (AD)low degree are merely (AE)vanity and [g]men of rank are a (AF)lie;
In the (AG)balances they go up;
They are together lighter than a breath of vanity.
10 (AH)Do not trust in oppression
And do not put vain hope in (AI)robbery;
If riches increase, (AJ)do not set your heart upon them.

11 [h]Once God has (AK)spoken;
[i]Twice I have heard this:
That (AL)strength belongs to God;
12 And that (AM)to You, O Lord, belongs lovingkindness,
For You (AN)repay a man according to his work.

Psalm 68

Let God’s Enemies Be Scattered

For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song.

68 [a]Let (A)God arise, [b]let His enemies be scattered,
And [c]let those who hate Him flee before Him.
As (B)smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
As (C)wax melts before the fire,
So let the (D)wicked perish before God.
But let the (E)righteous be glad; let them exult before God;
And let them rejoice with gladness.
Sing to God, (F)sing praises to His name;
[d](G)Lift up a song for Him who (H)rides through the deserts,
Whose (I)name is [e]Yah, and exult before Him.

A (J)father of the fatherless and a (K)judge [f]for the widows,
Is God in His (L)holy habitation.
God (M)causes the lonely to inhabit a home;
He (N)leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only (O)the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

O God, when You (P)went forth before Your people,
When You (Q)marched through the wasteland, [g]Selah.
The (R)earth quaked;
The (S)heavens also dripped rain at the presence of God;
[h](T)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
You (U)caused abundant rain to sprinkle down, O God;
You established Your inheritance when it was [i]parched.
10 Your creatures inhabited it;
You (V)established it in Your goodness for the poor, O God.

11 The Lord gives the word;
The (W)women who proclaim the good news are a great host:
12 (X)Kings of armies retreat, they retreat,
And she who remains at home will (Y)divide the spoil!”
13 If you men lie down (Z)among the [j]sheepfolds,
You all would be like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And its pinions with glistening gold.
14 When the Almighty (AA)dispersed the kings [k]there,
It was snowing in (AB)Zalmon.

15 A [l](AC)mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan;
A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.
16 Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks,
At the mountain which God has (AD)prized for His habitation?
Surely (AE)Yahweh will dwell there forever.
17 The (AF)chariots of God are [m]myriads, (AG)thousands upon thousands;
[n]The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.
18 You have (AH)ascended on high, You have (AI)led captive Your captives;
You have received gifts among men,
Even among the rebellious also, that Yah—God—may dwell there.

19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily (AJ)bears our burden,
(AK)The God who is our salvation. Selah.
20 God is to us a (AL)God of [o]salvation;
And (AM)to Yahweh the Lord belong escapes [p]from death.
21 Surely God will (AN)crush the head of His enemies,
The hairy [q]skull of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.
22 The Lord [r]said, “(AO)I will bring them back from Bashan.
I will bring them back from the depths of the sea;
23 That [s](AP)your foot may crush them in blood,
The tongue of your (AQ)dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”

24 They have seen (AR)Your [t]procession, O God,
The [u]procession of my God, my King, [v](AS)into the sanctuary.
25 The (AT)singers went on, the musicians after them,
[w]In the midst of the (AU)maidens beating tambourines.
26 (AV)Bless God in the congregations,
Yahweh, the (AW)fountain of Israel.
27 There is (AX)Benjamin, the [x]youngest, [y]having dominion over them,
The princes of Judah in their throng,
The princes of (AY)Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.

28 [z]Your God has (AZ)commanded your strength;
Show Yourself strong, O God, (BA)who has worked [aa]on our behalf.
29 [ab]Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
(BB)Kings will bring gifts to You.
30 Rebuke the (BC)beast [ac]in the reeds,
The herd of (BD)bulls with the calves of the peoples,
Trampling under foot the pieces of silver;
He has (BE)cast out the peoples who delight in war.
31 Envoys will come out of (BF)Egypt;
[ad](BG)Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

32 Sing to God, O (BH)kingdoms of the earth,
(BI)Sing praises to the Lord, Selah.
33 To Him who (BJ)rides upon the [ae](BK)highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, (BL)He gives forth His voice, a (BM)voice that is strong.
34 (BN)Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel
And (BO)His strength is in the [af]skies.
35 [ag]O God, You are (BP)awesome from Your [ah]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself (BQ)gives strength and might to the people.
(BR)Blessed be God!

Deuteronomy 30:11-20

11 “For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far from you. 12 It is not in heaven, [a]that you should say, ‘(A)Who will go up to heaven for us and get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, [b]that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

Choose Life

15 “See, (B)I have set before you today life and [c]prosperity, and death and [d]calamity; 16 in that I am commanding you today (C)to love Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you (D)may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not listen, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that (E)you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter [e]and possess it. 19 (F)I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, (G)the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your seed, 20 (H)by loving Yahweh your God, by listening to His voice, and (I)by holding fast to Him; (J)for [f]this is your life and the length of your days, [g]that you may live in (K)the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

2 Corinthians 11:1-21

Paul Defends His Apostleship

11 I wish that you would (A)bear with me in a little (B)foolishness, but [a]indeed you are bearing with me. For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, for I (C)betrothed you to one husband, so that I might (D)present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I fear that, as the (E)serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be corrupted from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. For if [b]one comes and preaches (F)another Jesus whom we did not preach, or you receive a (G)different spirit which you did not receive, or a (H)different gospel which you did not accept, you (I)bear this (J)beautifully. For I consider myself (K)in no way inferior to the [c]most-eminent apostles. But even if I am (L)unskilled in word, yet I am not so in (M)knowledge; in fact, in every way we have (N)made this evident to you in all things.

Or (O)did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I proclaimed the (P)gospel of God to you (Q)without charge? I robbed other churches by (R)taking wages from them to minister to you. And when I was present with you and was in need, I was (S)not a burden to anyone; for when (T)the brothers came from (U)Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept and will keep myself from (V)being a burden to you. 10 (W)As the truth of Christ is in me, (X)this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of (Y)Achaia. 11 Why? (Z)Because I do not love you? (AA)God knows I do!

12 But what I am doing I will continue to do, (AB)so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be found just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13 For such men are (AC)false apostles, (AD)deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even (AE)Satan disguises himself as an (AF)angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his ministers also disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness, (AG)whose end will be according to their deeds.

16 (AH)Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 17 What I am saying, I am not saying [d](AI)according to the Lord, but as (AJ)in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. 18 Since (AK)many boast (AL)according to the flesh, I will boast also. 19 For you, (AM)being so wise, are bearing the foolish gladly. 20 For you bear it if anyone (AN)enslaves you, anyone (AO)devours you, anyone (AP)takes advantage of you, anyone (AQ)exalts himself, anyone (AR)hits you in the face. 21 To my (AS)shame I must say that we have been (AT)weak by comparison.

But in whatever respect anyone else (AU)is daring—I (AV)speak in foolishness—I am just as daring myself.

Luke 19:1-10

Zaccheus Is Saved

19 And He (A)entered Jericho and was passing through. And behold, there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. And Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. So he ran on before and climbed up into a [a](B)sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” And he hurried and came down and received Him [b]gladly. And when they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone [c]to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” But Zaccheus stopped and said to (C)the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I [d]will give to the poor, and if I have (D)extorted anyone of anything, I [e]will give back (E)four times as much.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is (F)a son of Abraham. 10 For (G)the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”
