Book of Common Prayer
Revive Us Again
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.
85 Lord, you were (B)favorable to your land;
you (C)restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You (D)forgave the iniquity of your people;
you (E)covered all their sin. Selah
3 You withdrew all your wrath;
you (F)turned from your hot anger.
4 (G)Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 (H)Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not (I)revive us again,
that your people may (J)rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
8 (K)Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will (L)speak peace to his people, to his (M)saints;
but let them not (N)turn back to (O)folly.
9 Surely his (P)salvation is near to those who fear him,
that (Q)glory may dwell in our land.
10 (R)Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
(S)righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, (T)the Lord will give what is good,
and our land (U)will yield its increase.
13 (V)Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.
Glorious Things of You Are Spoken
A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah. A Song.
87 On (B)the holy mount (C)stands the city he founded;
2 the Lord (D)loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
3 (E)Glorious things of you are spoken,
O (F)city of God. Selah
4 Among those who (G)know me I mention (H)Rahab and Babylon;
behold, Philistia and Tyre, with (I)Cush[a]—
“This one was born there,” they say.
5 And of Zion it shall be said,
“This one and that one were born in her”;
for the Most High himself will (J)establish her.
6 The Lord records as he (K)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
136 (A)Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
(B)for his steadfast love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to (C)the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to (D)the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
4 to him who alone (E)does great wonders,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
5 to him who (F)by understanding (G)made the heavens,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
6 to him who (H)spread out the earth (I)above the waters,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
7 to him who (J)made the great lights,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
8 the sun to rule over the day,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
9 the moon and stars to rule over the night,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
10 to him who (K)struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
11 and (L)brought Israel out from among them,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
12 with (M)a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
13 to him who (N)divided the Red Sea in two,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
14 (O)and made Israel pass through the midst of it,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
15 but (P)overthrew[a] Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
16 to him who (Q)led his people through the wilderness,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
17 to him (R)who struck down great kings,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
18 and killed mighty kings,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
19 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
20 and Og, king of Bashan,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
21 and gave their land as a heritage,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
22 a heritage to Israel his (S)servant,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
23 It is he who (T)remembered us in our low estate,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
24 and (U)rescued us from our foes,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
25 he who (V)gives food to all flesh,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to (W)the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
The Burning Bush
3 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the (A)mountain of God. 2 (B)And (C)the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” 4 When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, (D)God called to him (E)out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then he said, “Do not come near; (F)take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” 6 And he said, (G)“I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for (H)he was afraid to look at God.
7 Then the Lord said, (I)“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their (J)taskmasters. I know their sufferings, 8 and (K)I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and (L)to bring them up out of that land to a (M)good and broad land, a land (N)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of (O)the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 And now, behold, (P)the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the (Q)oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 (R)Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, (S)“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 He said, (T)“But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, (U)you shall serve God on this mountain.”
23 By faith (A)Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of (B)the king's edict. 24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, (C)refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 (D)choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy (E)the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 (F)He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to (G)the reward. 27 By faith he (H)left Egypt, (I)not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured (J)as seeing him who is invisible. 28 By faith (K)he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.
29 By faith (L)the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned. 30 By faith (M)the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By faith (N)Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she (O)had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am (A)the way, and (B)the truth, and (C)the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 (D)If you had known me, you would have (E)known my Father also.[a] From now on you do know him and (F)have seen him.”
8 (G)Philip said to him, “Lord, (H)show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? (I)Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that (J)I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you (K)I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that (L)I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else (M)believe on account of the works themselves.
12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, (N)whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I (O)am going to the Father. 13 (P)Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that (Q)the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 (R)If you ask me[b] anything in my name, I will do it.
