Book of Common Prayer
2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people murmur in vain?
2 The kings of the Earth stand together. And the Princes are assembled together against the LORD, and against His Christ.
3 Let us break their bands and cast their cords from us.
4 But he who dwells in the heavens shall laugh. The LORD shall hold them in derision.
5 Then shall He speak to them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure, saying,
6 “I have set My King upon Zion, My Holy Mountain.”
7 “I will declare the decree. The LORD has said to me, ‘You are My Son. This day have I begotten You.
8 “Ask of Me, and I shall give You the heathen for Your inheritance, and the ends of the Earth for Your possession.
9 “You shall crush them with a scepter of iron; and break them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
10 Be wise now, therefore, you kings. Be learned, you judges of the Earth.
11 Serve the LORD in fear; and rejoice in trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish on the way when His wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all who trust in Him. A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.
26 Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in my innocence. My trust has also been in the LORD. Therefore, I shall not slide.
2 Test me, O LORD, and try me. Examine my core and my heart.
3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes. Therefore, I have walked in Your truth.
4 I have not dwelt with frivolous people, nor kept company with the deceitful.
5 I have hated the assembly of the evil and have not kept company with the wicked.
6 I will wash my hands in innocence, O LORD, and surround Your altar.
7 So that I may declare with the voice of thanksgiving and set forth all Your wondrous works.
8 O LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your honor dwells.
9 Do not gather my soul with the sinners, nor my life with the bloody men,
10 in whose hands are wickedness, and their right hands are full of bribes.
11 But I will walk in my innocence. Redeem me and be merciful to me.
12 My foot stands in uprightness. I will praise You, O LORD, in the Congregations. A Psalm of David.
13 Rejoice, O heavens! And be joyful, O Earth! Burst forth into praise, O mountains! For God has comforted His people and will have mercy upon His afflicted!
14 But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me. And my LORD has forgotten me.”
15 “Can a woman forget her child and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Even if they should forget, yet will I not forget you.
16 “Behold, I have carved you upon the palms of My Hands. Your walls are always in My sight.
17 “Your builders hurry. Your destroyers and those who made you a wasteland, have departed from you.
18 “Lift up your eyes all around and look. All these gather themselves together and come to you, as I live,’ says the LORD. “You shall surely put them all upon you as a garment and gird yourself with them like a bride.
19 “For your desolations and your wastelands, and your destroyed land, shall surely now be too cramped for those who shall dwell in it. And those who devour you shall be far away.
20 “The children of your barrenness shall say again in your ears, ‘The place is too cramped for me. Give me a place in which I may dwell.’
21 “Then shall you say in your heart, ‘Who has begotten me these, seeing I am barren and desolate, a captive and a wanderer to and fro? And who has nourished them? Behold, I was left alone. From where have these come?’”
22 Thus says the LORD God: “Behold, I will lift up My Hand to the Gentiles, and set up My standard to the people. And they shall bring your sons in their arms. And your daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
23 “And kings shall be your nursing fathers. And queens shall be your nurses. They shall bow down to you with their faces toward the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet. And you shall know that I am the LORD. For those who wait for Me shall not be ashamed.
18 At the same time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”
2 And Jesus called a little child to Him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
4 “Whoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
5 “And whoever shall receive one such little child in My Name, receives Me.
6 “But whoever shall cause one of these little ones who believes in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depths of the sea.
7 “Woe to the world because of offenses. For it must be that snares shall come. But woe be to the man by whom the stumbling block comes.
8 “Therefore, if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut them off and cast them from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame, or maimed, than - having two hands or two feet - to be cast into everlasting fire.
9 “And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, than (having two eyes) to be cast into Hell fire.
10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I say to you that, in Heaven, their angels always behold the face of My Father Who is in Heaven.
11 “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.
12 “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine, and go into the mountains, and seek those which have gone astray?
13 “And if he finds it? Truly I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine which did not go astray.
14 “Nor is it the will of your Father Who is in Heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
19 The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the firmament shows the work of His Hands.
2 Day unto day utters the same, and night unto night teaches knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line has gone forth through all the earth; and their words into the ends of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the Sun,
5 which comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoices like a mighty man to run his race.
6 His going out is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit is to the ends of the same, and nothing is hidden from the heat thereof.
7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the LORD is sure and gives wisdom to the simple.
8 The Statutes of the LORD are right and rejoice the heart. The Commandment of the LORD is pure and gives light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean and endures forever. The judgments of the LORD are truth. They are righteous altogether,
10 and more to be desired than gold—yea, than much fine gold—sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them your servant is made circumspect, and in the keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his faults? Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep your servant from presumptuous sins, also. Do not let them reign over me. So, shall I be upright and made clean from much wickedness.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD my strength, and my redeemer. To him who excels. A Psalm of David.
126 When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion, we were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joy. Then they said among the heathen, “The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us! We rejoice!
4 O LORD, bring back our captives as the rivers in the south.
5 Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 They went weeping and carried precious seed. They shall return with joy and bring their sheaves. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of Solomon
13 Then they brought little children to Him, so He could touch them. And His disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was displeased and said to them, “Let the little children to come to Me. And do not forbid them. For of such is the Kingdom of God.
15 “Truly I say to you, whoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter therein.”
16 And He took them up in His arms and put His hands upon them and blessed them.
