Psalm 2

The Prophet David rejoiceth, that notwithstanding his enemies’ rage, yet God will continue his kingdom forever, and advance it even to the end of the world,  10 and therefore exhorteth kings and rulers, that they would humbly submit themselves under God’s yoke, because it is in vain to resist God.  Herein is figured Christ’s kingdom.

Why do the [a]heathen (A)rage, and the people murmur in vain.

The kings of the earth band themselves, and the Princes are assembled together against the Lord, and against his [b]Christ.

[c]Let us break their bands, and cast their cords from us.

(B)But he that dwelleth in the heaven shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

[d]Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure, saying,

Even I have set my King upon Zion mine holy mountain.

I will declare the [e]decree: that is, the Lord hath said unto me, (C)Thou art my son; this [f]day have I begotten thee.

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the [g]ends of the earth for thy possession.

(D)Thou shalt crush them with a scepter of iron, and break them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

10 [h]Be wise now therefore, ye kings: be learned ye judges of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord in fear, and rejoice in trembling.

12 [i]Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye [j]perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all that trust in him.

Psalm 85

85 1 Because God withdrew not his rods from his Church after their return from Babylon, first they put him in mind of their deliverance, to the intent that he should not leave the work of his grace imperfect. 5 Next they complain of their long affliction. 8 And thirdly, they rejoice in hope of felicity promised. 9 For their deliverance was a figure of Christ’s kingdom, under the which should be perfect felicity.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.

Lord, thou hast been [a]favorable unto thy land: thou hast brought again the captivity of Jacob.

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, and [b]covered all their sins. Selah.

Thou hast withdrawn all thine anger, and hast turned back from the [c]fierceness of thy wrath.

Turn us, O God of our salvation, and release thine anger toward us.

Wilt thou be angry with us [d]forever? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another?

Wilt thou not turn again and quicken us, that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy [e]salvation.

I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speak [f]peace unto his people, and to his Saints, that they turn not again to folly.

Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth shall meet, righteousness and peace shall kiss one another.

11 [g]Truth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the Lord shall give good things, and our land shall give her increase.

13 [h]Righteousness shall go before him, and shall set her steps in the way.

Psalm 110

110 1 David prophesieth of the power and everlasting kingdom given to Christ,  4 and of his Priesthood, which should put an end to the Priesthood of Levi.

A Psalm of David.

The [a]Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

The Lord shall send the rod of thy power out of [b]Zion: be thou ruler in the midst of thine enemies.

Thy people shall come willingly at the time of assembling [c]thine army in holy beauty: the youth of thy womb shall be as the morning dew.

The Lord sware, and will not repent, Thou art a Priest forever, after the order of [d]Melchizedek.

The Lord that is at thy right hand, shall wound kings in the day of his wrath.

He shall be judge among the heathen: he shall fill all with dead bodies, and smite the [e]head over great countries.

He shall [f]drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up his head.

Psalm 132

132 1 The faithful grounding on God’s promise made unto David, desire that he would establish the same, both as touching his posterity, and the building of the Temple, to pray there as was forspoken, Deut. 12:5.

A song of degrees.

Lord, remember David with all his [a]affliction,

Who sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God, of Jacob, saying,

I [b]will not enter into the Tabernacle of mine house, nor come upon my pallet or bed,

Nor suffer mine eyes to sleep, nor mine eyelids to slumber,

Until I find out a place for the [c]Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Lo, we heard of it in [d]Ephrathah, and found it in the fields of the forest.

We will enter into his Tabernacles, and worship before his footstool.

Arise, O Lord, to come into thy [e]rest, thou, and the Ark of thy strength.

Let thy Priests be clothed with [f]righteousness, and let thy Saints rejoice.

10 For thy [g]servant David’s sake refuse not the face of thine Anointed.

11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David, and he will not shrink from it, saying, Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

12 If thy sons keep my Covenant, and my testimonies, that I shall teach them, their sons also shall sit upon thy throne [h]forever.

13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion, and loved to dwell in it, saying,

14 This is my rest forever: here will I dwell, for I have a [i]delight therein.

15 I will surely bless her vittles, and will satisfy her poor with bread,

16 And will clothe her Priests with [j]salvation, and her Saints shall shout for joy.

17 There will I make the [k]horn of David to bud: for I have ordained a light for mine Anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame, but on him his crown shall flourish.

Zechariah 2:10-13

10 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter Zion: for lo, I come, and will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

13 Let all flesh be still before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy place.

1 John 4:7-16

[a]Beloved, let us love one another: [b]for love cometh of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

He that loveth not, knoweth not God, [c]for God is [d]love.

(A)Herein was that love of God made manifest amongst us, because God sent that his only begotten Son into this world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is that love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be a reconciliation for our sins.

11 [e]Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 (B)[f]No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is [g]perfect in us.

13 Hereby know we, that we dwell in him, and he in us: because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 [h]And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

15 Whosoever [i]confesseth that Jesus is the Son of God, in him dwelleth God, and he in God.

16 And we have known, and believed the love that God hath in us, [j]God is love, and he that dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in him.

John 3:31-36

31 He that is come from on high, is above all: he that is of the earth, is of the [a]earth, and [b]speaketh of the earth: he that is come from heaven, is above all.

32 And what he hath [c]seen and heard, that he testifieth: but [d]no man receiveth his testimony.

33 He that hath receiveth his testimony, hath sealed that (A)God is true.

34 For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth him not the Spirit by measure.

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath (B)[e]given all things into his hand.

36 (C)He that believeth in the Son, hath everlasting life, and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not [f]see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
