Psalm 146-147

I Will Praise Yahweh Throughout My Life

146 [a]Praise Yah!
(A)Praise Yahweh, O my soul!
I will praise Yahweh (B)throughout my life;
I will (C)sing praises to my God while I have my being.
(D)Do not trust in nobles,
In merely a son of (E)man, in whom there is (F)no salvation.
His (G)spirit departs, he (H)returns to [b]the earth;
In that very day his (I)plans perish.
How (J)blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
Whose (K)hope is in Yahweh his God,
Who (L)made heaven and earth,
The (M)sea and all that is in them;
Who (N)keeps truth forever;
Who (O)does justice for the oppressed;
Who (P)gives food to the hungry.
Yahweh (Q)sets the prisoners free.

Yahweh (R)opens the eyes of the blind;
Yahweh (S)raises up those who are bowed down;
Yahweh (T)loves the righteous;
Yahweh (U)keeps the sojourners;
He [c](V)helps up the orphan and the widow,
But He bends (W)the way of the wicked.
10 Yahweh will (X)reign forever,
Your God, O Zion, [d]from generation to generation.
[e]Praise Yah!

He Heals the Brokenhearted

147 [f]Praise Yah!
For (Y)it is good to sing praises to our God;
For [g]it is pleasant and praise is (Z)becoming.
Yahweh (AA)builds up Jerusalem;
He (AB)gathers the [h]outcasts of Israel.
He is the One who heals the (AC)brokenhearted
And who (AD)binds up their [i]wounds,
Who (AE)counts the number of the stars;
He [j](AF)gives names to all of them.
(AG)Great is our Lord and abundant in power;
His (AH)discernment is [k]infinite.
Yahweh [l](AI)helps up the afflicted;
He brings down the wicked to the ground.

(AJ)Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving;
Sing praises to our God on the lyre.
He is the One who (AK)covers the heavens with clouds,
The One who (AL)provides rain for the earth,
The One who (AM)makes grass to sprout on the mountains,
Who (AN)gives to the animal its food,
And to the (AO)young ravens which call out.
10 He does not delight in the might of the (AP)horse;
He (AQ)does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 Yahweh (AR)is pleased with those who fear Him,
(AS)Those who wait for His lovingkindness.

12 Laud Yahweh, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
13 For He strengthened the (AT)bars of your gates;
He (AU)blessed your sons within you.
14 He is the One who (AV)sets [m]peace in your borders,
He (AW)satisfies you with (AX)the [n]finest of the wheat,
15 The One who sends forth His (AY)command to the earth;
His (AZ)word runs very swiftly,
16 The One who gives (BA)snow like wool;
He scatters the (BB)frost like ashes,
17 Who casts forth His (BC)ice as fragments;
Who can stand before His (BD)cold?
18 He (BE)sends forth His word and melts them;
He (BF)causes His wind to blow and so the waters flow,
19 Who (BG)declares His words to Jacob,
His (BH)statutes and His judgments to Israel.
20 He (BI)has not done so with any nation;
So as for His judgments, they have (BJ)not known them.
[o]Praise Yah!

[v]Praise Yah!

Isaiah 1:1-9

Judah, a Sinful Nation

The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz concerning (A)Judah and Jerusalem, which he beheld in the days of (B)Uzziah, (C)Jotham, (D)Ahaz, and (E)Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

(F)Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O (G)earth;
For [a]Yahweh speaks,
(H)Sons I have reared and raised up,
But they have (I)transgressed against Me.
An ox knows its owner,
And a donkey its master’s manger,
But Israel (J)does not know;
My people (K)do not perceive.”

Alas, sinful nation,
People heavy with iniquity,
(L)Seed of evildoers,
Sons who (M)act corruptly!
They have (N)forsaken Yahweh;
They have (O)spurned the Holy One of Israel;
They have [b]become estranged [c]from Him.

Where will you be stricken again,
As you (P)continue in your rebellion?
The whole head is (Q)sick,
And the whole heart is faint.
(R)From the sole of the foot even to the head
There is (S)nothing sound in it,
Only bruises, wounds, and raw wounds,
(T)Not pressed out, not bandaged,
Not softened with oil.

Your (U)land is desolate;
Your cities are burned with fire;
Your fields—strangers are devouring them in your presence;
It is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard,
Like a watchman’s hut in a cucumber field, like a besieged city.
(V)Unless Yahweh of hosts
Had left us a few (W)survivors,
We would be like (X)Sodom,
We would be like Gomorrah.

2 Peter 3:1-10

The Day of the Lord Will Come

This is now, (A)beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am (B)stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should (C)remember the words spoken beforehand by (D)the holy prophets and (E)the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles, (F)knowing this first of all, that (G)in the last days (H)mockers will come with their mocking, (I)following after their own lusts, and saying, “(J)Where is the promise of His (K)coming? For since the fathers (L)fell asleep, all continues just as it was (M)from the beginning of creation.” For [a]when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that (N)by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was (O)formed out of water and by water, through which (P)the world at that time was (Q)destroyed, being deluged with water. But by His word (R)the present heavens and earth are being reserved for (S)fire, being kept for (T)the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, (U)beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and (V)a thousand years like one day. (W)The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some consider slowness, but (X)is patient toward you, (Y)not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 10 But (Z)the day of the Lord (AA)will come like a thief, in which (AB)the heavens (AC)will pass away with a roar and the (AD)elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and (AE)the earth and [b]its works will be [c]found out.

Matthew 25:1-13

Parable of Ten Virgins

25 “Then (A)the kingdom of heaven may be compared to ten virgins, who took their (B)lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were foolish, and five were (C)prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the (D)prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the (E)prudent answered, saying, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were (F)ready went in with him to (G)the wedding feast; and (H)the door was shut. 11 And later the other virgins also *came, saying, ‘(I)Lord, lord, open up for us.’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 (J)Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know the day nor the hour.
