Psalm 106

¶ Halelu-JAH. O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good, for his mercy endures for ever.

Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? Who can show forth all his praise?

Happy are those that keep judgment and he that does righteousness at all times.

Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou dost bear unto thy people; O visit me with thy saving health,

that I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

¶ We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedly.

Our fathers did not understand thy wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of thy mercies but rebelled by the sea, even at the Red Sea.

Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

He reprehended the Red Sea also, and it was dried up, so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

12 Then they believed his words; they sang his praise.

13 ¶ They became rash. They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:

14 They gave themselves over to lust in the wilderness and tempted God in the desert.

15 And he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.

16 Then they envied Moses in the camp and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horeb and worshipped the molten image.

20 Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eats grass.

21 They forgot the God of their saving health, who had done great things in Egypt,

22 wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things upon the Red Sea.

23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath lest he should destroy them.

24 And they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his word:

25 But murmured in their tents and did not hearken unto the voice of the LORD.

26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness,

27 to overthrow their seed also among the Gentiles, and to scatter them in the lands.

28 They also joined themselves unto Baalpeor and ate the sacrifices for the dead.

29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions; and the plague broke in upon them.

30 Then Phinehas stood up and executed judgment, and so the plague was stayed.

31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness from generation to generation for evermore.

32 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

33 Because they provoked his spirit to rebel, and he spoke it with his lips.

34 ¶ They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

35 But were mingled among the Gentiles and learned their works.

36 And they served their idols, which were a snare unto them.

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils

38 and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood.

39 Thus they were defiled with their own works and went a whoring with their own inventions.

40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the Gentiles, and those that hated them ruled over them.

42 Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 He delivered them many times, but they rebelled at his counsel and were brought low for their iniquity.

44 Nevertheless he would look upon their affliction and hear their cry

45 and remember his covenant with them and repent according to the multitude of his mercies.

46 He also caused those that carried them captives to have mercy upon them.

47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the Gentiles, that we might lift up thy holy name, that we might glory in thy praise.

48 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting; and let all the people say, Amen. Halelu-JAH.

Numbers 22:1-21

22 ¶ And the sons of Israel set forward and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan in front of Jericho.

And Balak, the son of Zippor, saw all that Israel had done to the Amorite.

And Moab was sore afraid of the people because they were many; and Moab was distressed because of the sons of Israel.

And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licks up the herbs of the field. And Balak, the son of Zippor, was king of the Moabites at that time.

Therefore he sent messengers unto Balaam, the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the river Eufrates in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt; behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me.

Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people, for they are too mighty for me; peradventure I shall be able to smite them and drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom thou blessest shall be blessed, and he whom thou cursest shall be cursed.

And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the incantations in their hand; and they came unto Balaam and spoke unto him the words of Balak.

And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will recite the words unto you when the LORD shall speak unto me. So the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

And God came unto Balaam and said, Who are these men with thee?

10 And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent unto me, saying,

11 Behold, this people that has come out of Egypt, covers the face of the earth; come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them and drive them out.

12 Then God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; neither shalt thou curse the people; for they are blessed.

13 So Balaam rose up in the morning and said unto the princes of Balak, Go back to your land; for the LORD refuses to give me leave to go with you.

14 And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak and said, Balaam refused to come with us.

15 ¶ And Balak sent yet again princes, more and more honourable than those.

16 And they came to Balaam and said to him, Thus saith Balak, the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me;

17 for I will without a doubt honour thee greatly, and I will do whatever thou sayest unto me; come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

18 And Balaam answered and said unto the slaves of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do anything small or great.

19 Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night that I may know what the LORD will say unto me again.

20 And God came unto Balaam at night and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

21 So Balaam rose up in the morning and saddled his female ass and went with the princes of Moab.

Romans 6:12-23

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13 Neither present your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but present yourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

14 So that sin shall have no dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15 What then? shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? No, in no wise.

16 Or know ye not that to whom ye present yourselves slaves to obey, his slaves ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death or of the obedience unto righteousness?

17 Thank God that, although ye were the slaves of sin, ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine unto which ye are delivered;

18 and freed from sin, ye are become the slaves of righteousness.

19 I speak a human thing because of the weakness of our flesh: that as ye presented your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity, likewise now present your members to serve righteousness unto holiness.

20 For being previously the slaves of sin, now ye have been made the slaves of righteousness.

21 What fruit had ye then in those things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

22 But now freed from sin and made slaves to God, ye have as your fruit sanctification and as the end, everlasting life.

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the grace of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 21:12-22

12 ¶ And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those that sold and bought in the temple and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those that sold doves

13 and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.

15 But when the princes of the priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were sore displeased

16 and said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus said unto them, Yes; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of children and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

17 And he left them and went out of the city into Bethany, and he lodged there.

18 ¶ Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it and found nothing upon it, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee from now on for ever. And then the fig tree withered away.

20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only do this to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done.

22 And all things, whatever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
