Psalm 45

To the Overcomer: upon Shoshannim lilies, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.

¶ My heart is overflowing with a good word; I speak of the things which I have done concerning the king; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Thou art fairer than the sons of men, grace is poured into thy lips; therefore God has blessed thee for ever.

Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most valiant, with thy glory and thy majesty.

And in thy majesty be prospered; ride upon the word of truth and of humility and of righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

Thine arrows, by which the peoples fall under thee, penetrate the heart of the enemies of the king.

¶ Thy throne, O God, is eternal and for ever, the rod of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

All thy garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made thee glad.

Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women; the queen stands at thy right hand with a crown of gold from Ophir.

10 ¶ Hearken, O daughter, and consider and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house;

11 so shall the king greatly desire thy beauty; and bow before him, for he is thy Lord.

12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

13 The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework; the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought; they shall enter into the king’s palace.

16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth.

17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the people praise thee eternally and for ever.

Psalm 47-48

To the Overcomer: A Psalm for the sons of Korah.

¶ O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

He shall guide the peoples under us, and the Gentiles under our feet.

He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

¶ God is gone up with a shout of joy, the LORD with the sound of the shofar.

Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of all the earth; sing ye praises with understanding.

God reigns over the Gentiles; God sits upon the throne of his holiness.

The princes of the peoples have joined the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong unto God; he is greatly exalted.

A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.

¶ Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

For, behold, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled and hasted away.

Fear took hold upon them there and pain as of a woman in travail.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

¶ As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of the hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it for ever. Selah.

We have conceived according to thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth; thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Let Mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad because of thy judgments.

12 Walk about Zion and go round about her; tell the towers thereof.

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces that ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 For this God is our God eternally and for ever; he will be our guide even unto death.

Exodus 32:21-34

21 ¶ And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people do unto thee that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

22 And Aaron answered, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot; thou knowest the people that they are inclined to evil.

23 For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us, for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what is become of him.

24 And I answered unto them, Whoever has any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it to me and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out.

25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies),

26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? Come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27 And he said unto them, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said, Put every man his sword by his side and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp and slay each one his brother and his companion and his neighbour.

28 And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses, and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 Then Moses had said, Today you have consecrated yourselves to the LORD, for each one has consecrated in his son and in his brother, that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

30 ¶ And it came to pass on the next day that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin, but now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make reconciliation for your sin.

31 Then Moses returned unto the LORD and said, I pray thee, for, this people who have sinned a great sin and have made themselves gods of gold,

32 that thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me now out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 And the LORD answered unto Moses, Whoever has sinned against me, this one will I blot out of my book.

34 Therefore go now, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee; behold, my Angel shall go before thee; nevertheless in the day of my visitation I will visit their sin in them.

1 Thessalonians 1

¶ Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of the Thessalonians congregated in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¶ We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,

remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

being certain, beloved brethren, that you are chosen of God.

For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit:

So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia.

For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything.

For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God

10 and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.

Matthew 5:11-16

11 Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.

12 Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its savour, with what shall it be salted? From then on it is good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city set upon a mountain cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on the lampstand, and it gives light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
