To the Overcomer upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.
1 ¶ I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all thy marvellous works.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High
3 because my enemies are turned back; they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
4 For thou hast accomplished my judgment and my cause; thou didst sit in the throne judging according to righteousness.
5 Thou hast reprehended the Gentiles, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
6 O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and the cities that thou hast destroyed; their memorial is perished with them.
7 But the LORD shall endure for ever; he has prepared his throne for judgment.
8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall judge the peoples in uprightness.
9 The LORD also will be a refuge to the humble, a refuge for the time of trouble.
10 And those that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those that seek thee.
11 ¶ Sing unto the LORD, he who dwells in Zion; declare among the people his doings.
12 When he makes requirement for blood, he remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the humble.
13 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer from those that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
14 that I may show forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy saving health.
15 The Gentiles are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid their own foot is taken.
16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he has executed; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion (meditate on this for ever). Selah.
17 The wicked shall be put into Sheol, all the Gentiles that forget God.
18 For the humble shall not always be forgotten: the hope of the poor shall not perish for ever.
19 Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the Gentiles be judged in thy sight.
20 Put fear into them, O LORD: that the Gentiles may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
A Psalm of David.
1 ¶ LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in the mountain of thy holiness?
2 He that walks in integrity and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.
3 He that does not backbite with his tongue nor does evil to his neighbour nor takes up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes the vile person is not esteemed; but he honours those that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt and does not change.
5 He that does not put out his money to usury nor takes a bribe against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved.
32 And also unto the stranger, who is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name’s sake and thy mighty hand and thy stretched out arm, if they come and pray in this house,
33 thou shalt hear from the heavens, from the habitation of thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls unto thee for, that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name and fear thee, as do thy people Israel, and let them know that thy name is invoked upon this house which I have built.
34 If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, toward the house which I have built for thy name,
35 thou shalt hear from the heavens their prayer and their supplication and do them judgment.
36 If they sin against thee (for there is no man who does not sin), and thou art angry with them and deliver them over before their enemies so that those that take them carry them away captives unto an enemy land far off or near,
37 and they come into their right mind in the land where they are carried captive, if they convert and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done iniquity and have dealt wickedly,
38 if they convert unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captives and pray toward their land, which thou didst give unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen and toward the house which I have built unto thy name,
39 thou shalt hear from the heavens, from the dwelling place of thy habitation, their prayer and their supplications and do their judgment and forgive thy people who have sinned against thee.
40 Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open and let thine ears be attentive unto the prayer that is made in this place.
41 Now, therefore, arise, O LORD God, to inhabit thy resting place, thou and the ark of thy strength; let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation and let thy merciful ones rejoice in goodness.
42 O LORD God, do not turn away the face of thy anointed one; remember the mercies of David, thy slave.
7 ¶ And when Solomon finished praying, the fire came down from the heavens and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’s house.
3 And when all the sons of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they fell to the ground upon the pavement upon their faces and worshipped and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good, for his mercy endures for ever.
4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.
5 And King Solomon offered in sacrifice twenty-two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep; and so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
6 And the priests were upon their watches, and the Levites with the instruments of music of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endures for ever, when David praised by their hand. Likewise, the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel was on their feet.
7 Solomon also sanctified the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD, for there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings and the present and the fat.
2 ¶ My brethren, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus, the glorious Christ, with respect of persons.
2 For if a man with a gold ring and in precious apparel comes into your synagogue and a poor person in vile raiment also comes in,
3 and ye have respect to him that wears the precious clothing and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there or sit here under my footstool:
4 Are ye not then judging in yourselves and are become judges of evil thoughts?
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not the rich oppress you with tyranny and draw you with violence to the courts?
7 Do they not blaspheme that worthy name by which ye are called?
8 ¶ If ye truly fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well;
9 but if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin and are accused of the law as rebels.
10 For whosoever shall have kept the whole law, and then offends in one point is made guilty of all.
11 For he that said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not murder. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou commit murder, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12 So speak ye and so do as those that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
13 For judgment without mercy shall be done unto the one that has shown no mercy; and mercy boasts against judgment.
53 ¶ And they brought Jesus to the high priest, and with him were assembled all the princes of the priests and the elders and the scribes.
54 But Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest, and he was seated with the servants and warming himself at the fire.
55 And the princes of the priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death and found none.
56 For many bore false witness against him, but their witness did not agree together.
57 And there arose some that bore false witness against him, saying,
58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
59 But neither so did their witness agree together.
60 So the high priest, standing up in the midst, asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing to what these witness against thee?
61 But he was silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 And Jesus said unto him, I AM, and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power of God and coming in the clouds of the heaven.
63 Then the high priest rent his clothes and said, What need have we any more for witnesses?
64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
65 And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to buffet him and to say unto him, Prophesy. And the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.
