Version
Psalm 118

¶ O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good because his mercy endures for ever.

Let Israel now say that his mercy endures for ever.

Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endures for ever.

Let those that fear the LORD say now, that his mercy is eternal.

From a tight place I called upon JAH; and JAH answered me and set me in a wide place.

The LORD is for me; I will not fear what man can do unto me.

The LORD takes my part with those that help me; therefore I shall see my desire upon those that hate me.

It is better to wait upon the LORD than to wait upon man.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

10 All the nations compassed me about; but in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

11 They compassed me about; yea, they laid hold of me; but in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

12 They compassed me about like bees; they were quenched as the fire of thorns; for in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

13 Thou hast thrust at me with violence that I might fall, but the LORD helped me.

14 JAH is my strength and song and is become my saving health.

15 The voice of singing and saving health is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

17 I shall not die, but live and declare the works of JAH.

18 JAH has chastened me sore, but he has not given me over unto death.

19 ¶ Open unto me the gates of righteousness; I will go in through them; I will praise JAH.

20 This gate is of the LORD; the righteous shall enter in.

21 I will praise thee; for thou hast heard me and art become my saving health.

22 The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

23 This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, cause us now to prosper.

26 Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD; from the house of the LORD we bless you.

27 God is the LORD, who has shined on us; bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee; thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good, for his mercy endures for ever.

1 Samuel 10:1-16

10 ¶ Then Samuel took a vial of oil and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said, Is it not because the LORD has anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

When thou art departed from me today, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel’s sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah, and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou didst go to seek are found, and thy father has left the care of the asses and sorrows for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

Then shalt thou go on forward from there, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and three men going up to God to Bethel shall meet thee, one carrying three kids and another carrying three loaves of bread and another carrying a bottle of wine.

And they will salute thee and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.

After that thou shalt come to the hill of God where the garrison of the Philistines is, and it shall come to pass when thou art come there to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery and a tambourine and a pipe and a harp before them; and they shall prophesy.

And the Spirit of the LORD will prosper thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them and shalt be turned into another man.

And let it be when these signs are come unto thee that thou do according as thou shalt find at hand, for God is with thee.

And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal, and, behold, I will come down unto thee to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings. Seven days shalt thou tarry until I come to thee and show thee what thou shalt do.

¶ And it was so that when he had turned his shoulder to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart, and all those signs came to pass that day.

10 And when they came there to the hill, behold, the company of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God prospered him, and he prophesied among them.

11 And it came to pass when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

12 And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore, it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

13 And he ceased prophesying and came to the high place.

14 And Saul’s uncle said unto him and to his servant, Where went ye? And he said, To seek the asses, and when we saw that they were nowhere, we came to Samuel.

15 And Saul’s uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.

16 And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he did not tell him.

Romans 4:13-25

13 For the promise that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

14 For if those who are of the law are the heirs, faith is in vain, and the promise annulled,

15 because the law works wrath; for where there is no law, there is no rebellion either.

16 Therefore by faith, that it might be by grace, to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to that which is of the law, but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

17 ¶ as it is written, As a father of many Gentiles have I placed thee before God, whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which are not as those that are.

18 Who believed to wait against all hope, that he might become the father of many Gentiles, according to that which had been spoken unto him, So shall thy seed be.

19 And he did not weaken in faith: he considered not his own body now dead when he was about one hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb;

20 he doubted not the promise of God, with unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

21 being fully persuaded that he was also powerful to do all that he had promised;

22 therefore, his faith was also attributed unto him as righteousness.

23 ¶ Now it is not written for his sake alone that it was so reckoned to him,

24 but for us also to whom it shall be so reckoned, that is, to those that believe in him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,

25 who was delivered for our offenses and was raised again for our justification.

Matthew 21:23-32

23 ¶ And when he was come into the temple, the princes of the priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you a word, which if ye tell me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.

25 The baptism of John, where was it from? from heaven or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven, he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

26 But if we shall say, Of men, we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

27 And they answered Jesus and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

28 ¶ But what do you think? A certain man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, Son, go work today in my vineyard.

29 He answered and said, I will not, but afterward he repented and went.

30 And he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, I will go, Lord, and went not.

31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go ahead of you into the kingdom of God.

32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not, but the publicans and the harlots believed him, and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward that ye might believe him.
