Yahweh Is Our Help and Our Shield
33 (A)Sing for joy in Yahweh, O righteous ones;
Praise is (B)becoming to the upright.
2 Give thanks to Yahweh with the (C)lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a (D)harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to Him a (E)new song;
Play skillfully with (F)a loud shout.
4 For the word of Yahweh (G)is upright,
And all His work is done (H)in faithfulness.
5 He (I)loves righteousness and justice;
The (J)earth is full of the lovingkindness of Yahweh.
6 By the (K)word of Yahweh the heavens were made,
And (L)by the breath of His mouth (M)all their host.
7 He gathers the (N)waters of the sea [a]as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
8 Let (O)all the earth fear Yahweh;
Let all the inhabitants of the world (P)stand in awe of Him.
9 For (Q)He spoke, and it was;
He commanded, and it [b]stood.
10 Yahweh (R)nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the thoughts of the peoples.
11 The (S)counsel of Yahweh stands forever,
The (T)thoughts of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the (U)nation whose God is Yahweh,
The people whom He has (V)chosen for His own inheritance.
13 Yahweh (W)looks from heaven;
He (X)sees all the sons of men;
14 From (Y)the place of His habitation He gazes
On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who (Z)forms [c]the hearts of them all,
He who (AA)understands all their works.
16 (AB)The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A (AC)horse is a false hope for salvation;
Nor does it provide escape to anyone by its great strength.
18 Behold, (AD)the eye of Yahweh is on those who fear Him,
On those who (AE)wait for His lovingkindness,
19 To (AF)deliver their soul from death
And to keep them alive (AG)in famine.
20 Our soul (AH)is patient for Yahweh;
He is our (AI)help and our shield.
21 For our (AJ)heart is glad in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
22 Let Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, be upon us,
As we wait for You.
Yahweh Appears to Abram
12 And (A)Yahweh said to Abram,
“[a]Go forth from your land,
And from your kin
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
2 And (B)I will make you a great nation,
And (C)I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so [b](D)you shall be a blessing;
3 And (E)I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who [c]curses you I will [d]curse.
(F)And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
4 So Abram went forth as Yahweh had spoken to him; and (G)Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 So Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their (H)possessions which they had accumulated, and (I)the [e]persons which they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go forth to the land of Canaan; (J)thus they came to the land of Canaan. 6 And Abram passed through the land as far as the site of (K)Shechem, to the [f]oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 Then Yahweh (L)appeared to Abram and said, “(M)To your seed I will give this land.” So he built (N)an altar there to Yahweh who had appeared to him.
By Faith
11 Now faith is the [a](A)assurance of things [b](B)hoped for, the [c]conviction of (C)things not seen. 2 For by it the [d](D)men of old [e](E)gained approval.
3 By faith we understand that the [f](F)worlds were prepared (G)by the word of God, so that what is seen (H)was not made out of things which are visible. 4 By faith (I)Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he (J)was approved as being righteous—God approving [g]his (K)gifts—and through [h]faith, though (L)he is dead, he still speaks. 5 By faith (M)Enoch was taken up so that he would not (N)see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for prior to being taken up, he was approved as being pleasing to God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who (O)draws near to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. 7 By faith (P)Noah, being (Q)warned about (R)things not yet seen, [i](S)in reverence (T)prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of (U)the righteousness which is according to faith.
8 By faith (V)Abraham, when he was called, obeyed [j]by going out to a place which he was to (W)receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he sojourned in (X)the land of promise, as in a foreign land, (Y)dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, (Z)fellow heirs of the same promise, 10 for he was looking for (AA)the city which has (AB)foundations, (AC)whose architect and builder is God. 11 By faith even (AD)Sarah herself [k]received [l]ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she regarded Him (AE)faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore there were born even of one man, and (AF)him as good as dead [m]at that, as many (AG)as the stars of heaven in number, and innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
35 Jesus said to them, “(A)I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never hunger, and he who believes in Me (B)will never thirst. 36 But (C)I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37 (D)All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out. 38 For (E)I have come down from heaven, (F)not to do My own will, but (G)the will of Him who (H)sent Me. 39 Now this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of (I)all that He has given Me I (J)lose nothing, but (K)raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who (L)sees the Son and (M)believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will (N)raise him up on the last day.”
Words to the Jews
41 (O)Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that (P)came down from heaven.” 42 They were saying, “(Q)Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother (R)we know? How does He now say, ‘(S)I have come down from heaven’?”
48 (A)I am the bread of life. 49 (B)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread which (C)comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and (D)not die. 51 (E)I am the living bread that (F)came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, (G)he will live forever; and also the bread which I will give (H)for the life of the world is (I)My flesh.”
