1 Corinthians 12:27-13:3

You Are The Parts of Christ’s Body, Placed Where You Are By God

27 And you are the body of Christ, and body-parts in part[a]. 28 And God placed some[b] in the church as first, apostles[c]; second, prophets; third, teachers; then miracles; then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, kinds of tongues. 29 All are not apostles, are[d] they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All do not do miracles, do they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak in tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 31 But be zealous-for[e] the greater gifts.

The Value of Your God-Given Gift Is Measured By Your Love

And[f] I show you a way still[g] beyond measure[h]: 13 If I speak in the tongues of humans and of angels, but I do not have love, I have become a sounding brass [gong] or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but I do not have love, I am nothing. And if I dole-out[i] all my possessions, and if I hand-over[j] my body so that I may boast[k], but I do not have love, I am profited nothing.

Mark 9:2-13

Three Disciples See Jesus Transformed, And Hear God Tell Them To Listen To Jesus

And after six days, Jesus takes along Peter and James and John, and brings them up on a high mountain privately, alone. And He was transfigured[a] in front of them. And His garments became shining[b], very white, such as a bleacher[c] on earth is not able to make so white. And Elijah appeared to them, with Moses. And they were talking-with Jesus. And having responded, Peter says to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. And let us make three dwellings[d]— one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah”. For he did not know what he should respond, for they became terrified. And there came-to-be a cloud overshadowing[e] them. And a voice came out of the cloud: “This is My beloved Son. Be listening-to Him”. And suddenly, having looked around, they no longer saw anyone with themselves but Jesus alone.

The Disciples Ask, Wasn’t Elijah Supposed To Come Before The Messiah?

And while they were coming down from the mountain, He gave orders to them that they should relate to no one the things which they saw, except when the Son of Man rises-up from the dead. 10 And they held[f] the matter to themselves, discussing what the ‘rising-up from the dead’ meant. 11 And they were questioning Him, saying “Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first[g]?” 12 And the One said to them, “Elijah, having come first, restores all things— and-yet how has it been written for[h] the Son of Man that He would suffer many things and be treated-with-contempt[i]? 13 But I say to you that Elijah indeed has come[j], and they did to him whatever they were wanting, just as it has been written for him”.
