Psalm 38

38 1 David lying sick of some grievous disease, acknowledgeth himself to be chastised of the Lord for his sins, and therefore prayeth God to turn away his wrath. 5 He uttereth the greatness of his grief by many words and circumstances, as wounded with the arrows of God’s ire, forsaken of his friends, evil intreated of his enemies. 22 But in the end with firm confidence he commendeth his cause to God, and hopeth for speedy help at his hand.

A Psalm of David for [a]remembrance.

O Lord, rebuke me not in thine [b]anger, neither chastise me in thy wrath.

For thine [c]arrows have light upon me, and thine hand lieth upon me.

There is nothing sound in my flesh, because of thine anger: neither is there rest in my bones, because of my [d]sin.

For mine [e]iniquities are gone over mine head, and as a weighty burden they are too heavy for me.

My wounds are putrefied, and corrupt because of [f]my foolishness.

I am bowed, and crooked very sore: I go [g]mourning all the day.

For my reins are full of burning, and there is nothing sound in my flesh.

I am weakened and sore broken: I [h]roar for the very grief of mine heart.

Lord, I pour my whole desire before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.

10 Mine heart [i]panteth: my strength faileth me, and the light of mine eyes, even [j]they are not mine own.

11 My lovers and my friends stand aside from my plague, and my [k]kinsmen stand afar off.

12 They also that seek after my life, lay snares, and they that go about to do me evil, talk wicked things and imagine deceit continually.

13 But I as a [l]deaf man heard not, and am as a dumb man, which openeth not his mouth.

14 Thus am I as a man, that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

15 For on thee, O Lord, do I wait: thou wilt hear me, my Lord, my God.

16 For I said, Hear me, lest they rejoice over me: for [m]when my foot slippeth, they extol themselves against me.

17 Surely I am ready to [n]halt, and my sorrow is ever before me.

18 When I declare my pain, and am sorry for my sin,

19 Then mine [o]enemies are alive, and are mighty, and they that hate me wrongfully are many.

20 They also, that reward evil for good, are mine adversaries, because I follow [p]goodness.

21 Forsake me not, O Lord, be not thou far from me, my God.

22 Haste thee, to help me, O my Lord, my [q]salvation.

Psalm 119:25-48

DALETH

25 My soul cleaveth to the [a]dust: quicken me according to thy word.

26 I have [b]declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.

27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts, and I will meditate in thy wondrous works.

28 My soul melteth for heaviness: raise me up according to thy [c]word.

29 Take from me the [d]way of lying, and grant me graciously thy Law.

30 I have chosen the way of truth, and thy judgments have I laid before me.

31 I have cleaved to thy testimonies, O Lord: confound me not.

32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou [e]shalt enlarge mine heart.

HE

33 Teach [f]me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes, and I will keep it unto the end.

34 Give me understanding and I will keep thy Law, yea, I will keep it with my whole [g]heart.

35 Direct me in the path of thy commandments: for therein is my delight.

36 Incline mine heart unto thy testimonies: and not to [h]covetousness.

37 Turn away mine [i]eyes from regarding vanity, and quicken me in thy way.

38 Stablish thy promise to thy servant, because he feareth thee.

39 Take away [j]my rebuke that I fear: for thy judgments are good.

40 Behold, I desire thy commandments: [k]quicken me in thy righteousness.

VAU

41 And let thy loving [l]kindness come unto me, O Lord, and thy salvation according to thy promise.

42 So shall I [m]make answer unto my blasphemers: for I trust in thy word.

43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth: for I wait for thy judgments.

44 So shall I always keep thy Law forever and ever.

45 And I will [n]walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

46 I will speak also of thy testimonies before [o]Kings, and will not be ashamed.

47 And my delight shall be in thy Commandments, which I have loved.

48 Mine hands also will I lift up unto thy Commandments, which I have loved, and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Genesis 9:18-29

18 ¶ Now the sons of Noah going forth of the Ark, were Shem and Ham and Japheth. And Ham is the father of Canaan.

19 These are the three sons of Noah, and of them was the whole earth [a]overspread.

20 [b]Noah also began to be an husbandman, and planted a vineyard.

21 And he drunk of the wine, and was [c]drunken, and was uncovered in the midst of his tent.

22 And when Ham the father of [d]Canaan saw the nakedness of his father, [e]he told his two brethren without.

23 Then took Shem and Japheth a garment, and put it upon both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father with their faces backward: so they saw not their father’s nakedness.

24 Then Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him,

25 And said, [f]Cursed be Canaan: a [g]servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

26 He said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem, and let Canaan be his [h]servant.

27 God [i][j]persuade Japheth, that he may dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant.

28 ¶ And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.

29 So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

Hebrews 6:1-12

1 He briefly toucheth the childish slothfulness of the Hebrews, 4 and terrifieth them with severe threatenings: 7 He stirreth them up to endeavor in time to go forward: 9 He hopeth well of them: 13 He allegeth Abraham’s example: 17 and compareth faith that taketh hold on the word, 19 unto an anchor.

Therefore, leaving the doctrine of the [a]beginning of Christ, let us be led forward unto perfection, [b]not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Of the doctrine of baptisms, and laying on of hands, and of the resurrection from the dead, and of eternal judgment.

And this will we do if God permit.

(A)[c] For it is [d]impossible that they which were once lightened, and have [e]tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the holy Ghost,

And have tasted of the good word of God, and of the powers of the world to come,

If they fall away, should be renewed again by repentance: seeing they [f]crucify again to themselves the Son of God, and make a mock of him.

[g]For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing of God.

But that which beareth thorns and briars, is reproved, and is near unto cursing, whose end is to be burned.

[h]But beloved, we have persuaded ourselves better things of you, and such as accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

10 [i]For God is not unrighteous, that he should forget your work, and labor of love, which ye showed toward his Name, in that ye have ministered unto the Saints, and yet minister.

11 And we desire that every one of you show the same diligence, to the full assurance of hope unto the end,

12 [j]That ye be not slothful, but followers of them, which through faith and patience, inherit the promises.

John 3:22-36

22 ¶ After these things came Jesus, and his disciples into the land of Judea, and there tarried with them, and (A)baptized.

23 And John also baptized in Aenon besides Salim, because there was much water there: and they came and were baptized.

24 For John was not yet cast into prison.

25 [a]Then there arose a question between John’s disciples and the Jews, about purifying.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom (B)thou barest witness, behold, he baptizeth, and all men come to him.

27 John answered, and said, A man [b]can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

28 Ye yourselves are my witnesses, that (C)I said, I am not that Christ, but that I am sent before him.

29 He that hath the bride, is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly, because of the bridegroom’s voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

31 He that is come from on high, is above all: he that is of the earth, is of the [c]earth, and [d]speaketh of the earth: he that is come from heaven, is above all.

32 And what he hath [e]seen and heard, that he testifieth: but [f]no man receiveth his testimony.

33 He that hath receiveth his testimony, hath sealed that (D)God is true.

34 For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth him not the Spirit by measure.

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath (E)[g]given all things into his hand.

36 (F)He that believeth in the Son, hath everlasting life, and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not [h]see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
