Version
Psalm 1-4

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the Law of the LORD. And on His Law does he meditate day and night.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season; whose leaf shall not fade. So, whatever he shall do shall prosper.

The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous. And the way of the wicked shall perish.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people murmur in vain?

The kings of the Earth stand together. And the Princes are assembled together against the LORD, and against His Christ.

Let us break their bands and cast their cords from us.

But he who dwells in the heavens shall laugh. The LORD shall hold them in derision.

Then shall He speak to them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure, saying,

“I have set My King upon Zion, My Holy Mountain.”

“I will declare the decree. The LORD has said to me, ‘You are My Son. This day have I begotten You.

“Ask of Me, and I shall give You the heathen for Your inheritance, and the ends of the Earth for Your possession.

“You shall crush them with a scepter of iron; and break them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”

10 Be wise now, therefore, you kings. Be learned, you judges of the Earth.

11 Serve the LORD in fear; and rejoice in trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish on the way when His wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all who trust in Him. A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.

LORD, how my adversaries are increased? How many rise against me?

Many say to my soul, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah.

But You, LORD, are a buckler for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

I called to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me out of His Holy Mountain. Selah.

I laid down and slept; and rose up again. For the LORD sustained me.

I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who should beset me all around.

O LORD, arise! Help me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies upon the cheekbone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.

Salvation belongs to the LORD. And Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah. To him who excels on Neginoth: A Psalm of David.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness. You have set me at liberty when I was in distress. Have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.

O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame, loving vanity and seeking lies? Selah.

But know that the LORD has chosen for Himself a godly man. The LORD will hear when I call to Him.

Tremble and do not sin. Examine your own heart upon your bed and be still. Selah.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the LORD.

Many say, “Who will show us good?” LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.

You have given me more joy of heart than when their wheat and their wine abounded.

I will lay down, and also sleep, in peace. For You only, LORD, make me dwell in safety. To him who excels upon Nehiloth: A Psalm of David.

Psalm 7

O LORD my God, in You I put my trust. Save me from all who persecute me, and deliver me,

lest he devour my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is no one to help.

O LORD, my God, if I have done this thing, if there is any wickedness in my hands,

if I have rewarded evil to him who had peace with me (indeed, I have delivered him without cause),

let the enemies persecute my soul and take it. Indeed, let him tread my life down upon the Earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.

Arise, O LORD, in Your wrath, and lift up Yourself against the rage of my enemies. Awaken me to the judgment You have appointed.

So shall the congregation of the people surround You. For their sakes, therefore, return on High.

The LORD shall judge the people. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to my innocence in me.

Oh, let the malice of the wicked come to an end. But guide the just. For the righteous God tries the hearts and reins.

10 My defense is in God, Who preserves the upright in heart.

11 God judges the righteous, and he who denounces God, every day.

12 Unless he turns, He has sharpened His sword. He has bent His bow and made it ready.

13 He has also prepared deadly weapons. He will ordain His arrows for those who persecute.

14 Behold, he shall work with wickedness, for he has conceived mischief. But he shall bring forth a lie.

15 He has made a pit, and dug it, and has fallen into the pit he made.

16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his cruelty shall fall upon his own head.

17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness and will sing praise to the Name of the LORD Most High. To him who excels on Gittith: A Psalm of David.

Isaiah 40:12-23

12 Who has measured the waters in his fist, and counted heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the Earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains on a scale, and the hills in a balance?

13 Who has instructed the Spirit of the LORD, or was His counselor, or taught Him?

14 Of whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him and taught Him in the way of judgment, or taught Him knowledge, and showed to Him the way of understanding?

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the dust of the balance. Behold, He takes away the isles as a little dust.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient for fire, nor its beasts sufficient for a Burnt Offering.

17 All nations are as nothing before Him. And they are counted to Him less than nothing and vanity.

18 To whom, then, will you liken God? Or what likeness will you set up for Him?

19 The workman melts an image, or the goldsmith beats it out in gold, or the silversmith in silver plates.

20 Do not the poor choose a tree that will not rot for an oblation? He also seeks a cunning workman to prepare an image that shall not be shaken.

21 Know you nothing? Have you not heard it? Has it not been told to you from the beginning? Have you not understood it from the foundation of the Earth?

22 He sits upon the circle of the Earth, and its inhabitants are as grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent in which to dwell.

23 He brings the princes to nothing, makes the judges of the Earth as vanity,

Ephesians 1:1-14

Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Grace be with you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed be God, and the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in the Heavenly realms in Christ,

as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love;

having predestined us to be adopted, through Jesus Christ, to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He has freely bestowed on us in the Beloved;

in Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace,

with which He has been abundant toward us in all wisdom and understanding;

and has made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure, which He has purposed in Him.

10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times, He might gather together all things in Christ, both in Heaven and on Earth;

11 in Whom we also have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according the counsel of His own will,

12 that we who first trusted in Christ, should be to the praise of His Glory;

13 in Whom also, you, having heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation, and after having believed, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

14 Who is the guarantee of our inheritance, for the redemption of that acquired possession, to the praise of His Glory.

Mark 1:1-13

The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

As it is written in the Prophets, “Behold, I send My Messenger before your face, Who shall prepare your way before you.

“The voice of him who cries in the wilderness, is, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord! Make His paths straight!’”

John baptized in the wilderness, and preached the baptism of repentance, for remission of sins.

And all the country of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a belt of a skin about his loins. And he ate locusts and wild honey,

and preached, saying, “A stronger than I comes after me, Whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.

“Indeed, I have baptized you with water. But He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost.”

And it happened that in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth (a city of Galilee) and was baptized by John in Jordan.

10 And as soon as He had come out of the water, John saw the heavens torn apart, and the Holy Ghost descending upon Him like a dove.

11 Then there was a voice from Heaven, saying, “You are My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.”

12 And immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness.

13 And He was there in the wilderness forty days and was tempted by Satan. He was also with the wild beasts. And the angels ministered to Him.
