Psalm 2

The Reign of the Lord's Anointed

(A)Why do (B)the nations rage[a]
    and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
    and the rulers take counsel together,
    against the Lord and against his (C)Anointed, saying,
“Let us (D)burst their bonds apart
    and cast away their cords from us.”

He who (E)sits in the heavens (F)laughs;
    the Lord holds them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his (G)wrath,
    and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“As for me, I have (H)set my King
    on (I)Zion, my (J)holy hill.”

I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, (K)“You are my Son;
    today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
    and (L)the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall (M)break[b] them with (N)a rod of iron
    and dash them in pieces like (O)a potter's vessel.”

10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
    be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 (P)Serve the Lord with (Q)fear,
    and (R)rejoice with (S)trembling.
12 (T)Kiss (U)the Son,
    lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
    for his (V)wrath is quickly kindled.
(W)Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Psalm 85

Revive Us Again

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.

85 Lord, you were (B)favorable to your land;
    you (C)restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You (D)forgave the iniquity of your people;
    you (E)covered all their sin. Selah
You withdrew all your wrath;
    you (F)turned from your hot anger.

(G)Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
    and put away your indignation toward us!
(H)Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
Will you not (I)revive us again,
    that your people may (J)rejoice in you?
Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

(K)Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
    for he will (L)speak peace to his people, to his (M)saints;
    but let them not (N)turn back to (O)folly.
Surely his (P)salvation is near to those who fear him,
    that (Q)glory may dwell in our land.

10 (R)Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
    (S)righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
    and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, (T)the Lord will give what is good,
    and our land (U)will yield its increase.
13 (V)Righteousness will go before him
    and make his footsteps a way.

Psalm 110

Sit at My Right Hand

A Psalm of David.

110 (A)The Lord says to my Lord:
    (B)“Sit at my right hand,
(C)until I make your enemies your (D)footstool.”

The Lord sends forth (E)from Zion
    (F)your mighty scepter.
    (G)Rule in the midst of your enemies!
(H)Your people will (I)offer themselves freely
    on the day of your (J)power,[a]
    in (K)holy garments;[b]
from the womb of the morning,
    the dew of your youth will be yours.[c]
(L)The Lord has (M)sworn
    and will (N)not change his mind,
(O)“You are (P)a priest (Q)forever
    after the order of (R)Melchizedek.”

The Lord is at your (S)right hand;
    he will (T)shatter kings on (U)the day of his wrath.
He will (V)execute judgment among the nations,
    (W)filling them with corpses;
he will (X)shatter chiefs[d]
    over the wide earth.
He will (Y)drink from the brook by the way;
    therefore he will lift up his head.

Psalm 132

The Lord Has Chosen Zion

A Song of (A)Ascents.

132 Remember, O Lord, in David's favor,
    all (B)the hardships he endured,
how he swore to the Lord
    and (C)vowed to (D)the Mighty One of Jacob,
“I will not enter my house
    or get into my bed,
I will not (E)give sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,
until I (F)find a place for the Lord,
    a dwelling place for (G)the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Behold, we heard of it in (H)Ephrathah;
    we found it in (I)the fields of Jaar.
“Let us go to his dwelling place;
    let us (J)worship at his (K)footstool!”

(L)Arise, O Lord, and go to your (M)resting place,
    you and the ark of your (N)might.
Let your (O)priests be (P)clothed with righteousness,
    and let your (Q)saints shout for joy.
10 For the sake of your servant David,
    (R)do not turn away the face of (S)your anointed one.

11 (T)The Lord swore to David a sure oath
    (U)from which he will not turn back:
(V)“One of the sons of your body[a]
    I will set on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
    and my testimonies that I shall teach them,
their sons also forever
    shall (W)sit on your throne.”

13 For the Lord has (X)chosen Zion;
    he has (Y)desired it for his dwelling place:
14 “This is my (Z)resting place forever;
    here I will (AA)dwell, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly (AB)bless her provisions;
    I will (AC)satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Her (AD)priests I will clothe with salvation,
    and her (AE)saints will shout for joy.
17 There I will make (AF)a horn to sprout for David;
    I have prepared (AG)a lamp for (AH)my anointed.
18 His enemies I will (AI)clothe with shame,
    but on him his crown will shine.”

Micah 4:1-5

The Mountain of the Lord

It shall come to pass (A)in the latter days
    that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
    and it shall be lifted up above the hills;
and peoples shall flow to it,
    and many nations shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
    and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,[a]
    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He shall judge between many peoples,
    and shall decide disputes for strong nations far away;
and they shall (B)beat their swords into plowshares,
    and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
    neither shall they learn war anymore;
(C)but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree,
    (D)and no one shall make them afraid,
    (E)for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.
For (F)all the peoples walk
    each in the name of its god,
but (G)we will walk in the name of the Lord our God
    forever and ever.

Micah 5:2-4

[a] (A)But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
    who are too little to be among the clans of (B)Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
    one who is to be (C)ruler in Israel,
(D)whose coming forth is (E)from of old,
    from ancient days.
Therefore he shall give them up (F)until the time
    when she who is in labor has given birth;
then (G)the rest of his brothers shall return
    to the people of Israel.
And he shall stand (H)and shepherd his flock (I)in the strength of the Lord,
    in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they shall dwell secure, for now (J)he shall be great
    to the ends of the earth.

1 John 4:7-16

God Is Love

Beloved, (A)let us love one another, for love is from God, and (B)whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. (C)Anyone who does not love does not know God, because (D)God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that (E)God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, (F)not that we have loved God (G)but that he loved us and sent his Son to be (H)the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 (I)No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and (J)his love is perfected in us.

13 (K)By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And (L)we have seen and testify that (M)the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of (N)the world. 15 (O)Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So (P)we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. (Q)God is love, and (R)whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

John 3:31-36

31 (A)He who comes from above (B)is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and (C)speaks in an earthly way. (D)He who comes from heaven (E)is above all. 32 (F)He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, (G)yet no one receives his testimony. 33 Whoever receives his testimony (H)sets his seal to this, (I)that God is true. 34 For he whom (J)God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit (K)without measure. 35 (L)The Father loves the Son and (M)has given all things into his hand. 36 (N)Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; (O)whoever does not obey the Son shall not (P)see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
