Contemporary English Version (CEV)
Version
Psalm 34

(Written by David when he pretended to be crazy in front of Abimelech, so that Abimelech would send him away, and David could leave.)

Honor the Lord

(A) I will always praise the Lord.
With all my heart,
    I will praise the Lord.
Let all who are helpless,
    listen and be glad.
Honor the Lord with me!
    Celebrate his great name.

I asked the Lord for help,
and he saved me
    from all my fears.
Keep your eyes on the Lord!
You will shine like the sun
    and never blush with shame.
I was a nobody, but I prayed,
and the Lord saved me
    from all my troubles.

If you honor the Lord,
    his angel will protect you.
(B) Discover for yourself
    that the Lord is kind.
Come to him for protection,
    and you will be glad.

Honor the Lord!
    You are his special people.
No one who honors the Lord
    will ever be in need.
10 Young lions[a] may go hungry
    or even starve,
but if you trust the Lord,
you will never miss out
    on anything good.

11 Come, my children, listen
as I teach you
    to respect the Lord.
12 (C) Do you want to live
    and enjoy a long life?
13 Then don't say cruel things
    and don't tell lies.
14 Do good instead of evil
and try to live at peace.

15 If you obey the Lord,
he will watch over you
    and answer your prayers.
16 But God despises evil people,
and he will wipe them all
from the earth,
    till they are forgotten.
17 When his people pray for help,
he listens and rescues them
    from their troubles.
18 The Lord is there to rescue
all
    who are discouraged
    and have given up hope.

19 The Lord's people
    may suffer a lot,
but he will always
    bring them safely through.
20 (D) Not one of their bones
    will ever be broken.

21 Wicked people are killed
    by their own evil deeds,
and if you hate God's people
    you will be punished.
22 The Lord saves the lives
    of his servants.
Run to him for protection,
    and you won't be punished.

Revelation 19:1

19 After this, I heard what sounded like a lot of voices in heaven, and they were shouting,

“Praise the Lord!
To our God belongs
    the glorious power to save,

Revelation 19:4-10

After this, the 24 elders and the four living creatures all knelt before the throne of God and worshiped him. They said, “Amen! Praise the Lord!”

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

(A) From the throne a voice said,

“If you worship
    and fear our God,
give praise to him,
    no matter who you are.”

(B) Then I heard what seemed to be a large crowd that sounded like a roaring flood and loud thunder all mixed together. They were saying,

“Praise the Lord!
Our Lord God All-Powerful
    now rules as king.
So we will be glad and happy
    and give him praise.
The wedding day of the Lamb
is here,
    and his bride is ready.
She will be given
    a wedding dress
made of pure
    and shining linen.
This linen stands for
the good things
    God's people have done.”

(C) Then the angel told me, “Put this in writing. God will bless everyone who is invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” The angel also said, “These things God has said are true.”

10 I knelt at the feet of the angel and began to worship him. But the angel said, “Don't do that! I am a servant, just like you and everyone else who tells about Jesus. Don't worship anyone but God. Everyone who tells about Jesus does it by the power of the Spirit.”
