Psalm 8

How Majestic Is Your Name

To the choirmaster: according to The (A)Gittith.[a] A Psalm of David.

O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your (B)name in all the earth!
You have set your (C)glory above the heavens.
    (D)Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established (E)strength because of your foes,
    to still (F)the enemy and the avenger.

When I (G)look at your heavens, the work of your (H)fingers,
    the moon and the stars, (I)which you have set in place,
(J)what is man that you are (K)mindful of him,
    and (L)the son of man that you (M)care for him?

Yet you have made him a little lower than (N)the heavenly beings[b]
    and crowned him with (O)glory and honor.
You have given him (P)dominion over the works of your hands;
    (Q)you have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
    and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
    whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 47

God Is King over All the Earth

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.

47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
    (C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
    (E)a great king over all the earth.
He (F)subdued peoples under us,
    and nations under our feet.
He chose our (G)heritage for us,
    (H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

God (I)has gone up with a shout,
    the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
    Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is (J)the King of all the earth;
    sing praises (K)with a psalm![a]

God (L)reigns over the nations;
    God sits on his holy throne.
(M)The princes of the peoples gather
    as the people of the God of Abraham.
For (N)the shields of the earth belong to God;
    he is highly exalted!

Psalm 24

The King of Glory

A Psalm of David.

24 (A)The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,[a]
    the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has (B)founded it upon (C)the seas
    and established it upon the rivers.

(D)Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
    And who shall stand in his (E)holy place?
(F)He who has (G)clean hands and (H)a pure heart,
    who does not (I)lift up his soul to (J)what is false
    and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive (K)blessing from the Lord
    and (L)righteousness from (M)the God of his salvation.
Such is (N)the generation of those who seek him,
    who (O)seek the face of the God of Jacob.[b] Selah

(P)Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
    that (Q)the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord, strong and mighty,
    the Lord, (R)mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And lift them up, O ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
    (S)The Lord of hosts,
    he is the King of glory! Selah

Psalm 96

Worship in the Splendor of Holiness

96 (A)Oh sing to the Lord (B)a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
    (C)tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For (D)great is the Lord, and (E)greatly to be praised;
    he is to be feared above (F)all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
    but the Lord (G)made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
    (H)strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the Lord, O (I)families of the peoples,
    (J)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord (K)the glory due his name;
    bring (L)an offering, and (M)come into his courts!
Worship the Lord in (N)the splendor of holiness;[a]
    (O)tremble before him, all the earth!

10 Say among the nations, (P)“The Lord reigns!
    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
    he will (Q)judge the peoples with equity.”

11 Let (R)the heavens be glad, and let (S)the earth rejoice;
    let (T)the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12     let (U)the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all (V)the trees of the forest sing for joy
13     before the Lord, for he comes,
    for he comes (W)to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Daniel 7:9-14

The Ancient of Days Reigns

“As I looked,

(A)thrones were placed,
    and the (B)Ancient of Days took his seat;
(C)his clothing was white as snow,
    and (D)the hair of his head like pure wool;
his throne was fiery flames;
    (E)its wheels were burning fire.
10 (F)A stream of fire issued
    and came out from before him;
(G)a thousand thousands (H)served him,
    (I)and ten thousand times ten thousand (J)stood before him;
the (K)court sat in judgment,
    and (L)the books were opened.

11 “I looked then because of the sound of (M)the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, (N)the beast was killed, and its body destroyed (O)and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, (P)their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

The Son of Man Is Given Dominion

13 “I saw in the night visions,

and (Q)behold, with the clouds of heaven
    there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the (R)Ancient of Days
    and was presented before him.
14 (S)And to him was given dominion
    and glory and a kingdom,
that all (T)peoples, nations, and languages
    should serve him;
(U)his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
    which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
    that shall not be destroyed.

Hebrews 2:5-18

The Founder of Salvation

For it was not to angels that God subjected the world (A)to come, of which we are speaking. It has been testified somewhere,

(B)“What is man, that you are mindful of him,
    or the son of man, that you care for him?
You made him for a little while lower than the angels;
    you have crowned him with glory and honor,[a]
    putting everything in subjection under his feet.”

Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, (C)we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him (D)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, (E)crowned with glory and honor (F)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might (G)taste death (H)for everyone.

10 For it (I)was fitting that he, (J)for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons (K)to glory, should make the (L)founder of their salvation (M)perfect through suffering. 11 For (N)he who sanctifies and (O)those who are sanctified (P)all have one source.[b] That is why he is not ashamed to call them (Q)brothers,[c] 12 saying,

(R)“I will tell of your name to my brothers;
    in the midst of the (S)congregation I will sing your praise.”

13 And again,

(T)“I will put my trust in him.”

And again,

(U)“Behold, I and the children (V)God has given me.”

14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise (W)partook of the same things, that (X)through death he might (Y)destroy (Z)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who (AA)through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he (AB)helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had (AC)to be made like his brothers in every respect, (AD)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest (AE)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered (AF)when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission

16 Now the eleven disciples (A)went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they (B)worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, (C)“All authority (D)in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 (E)Go therefore and (F)make disciples of (G)all nations, (H)baptizing them (I)in[a] (J)the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them (K)to observe all that (L)I have commanded you. And behold, (M)I am with you always, to (N)the end of the age.”
