87 1 The holy Ghost promiseth, that the condition of the Church which was in misery after the captivity of Babylon, should be restored to great excellency. 4 So that there should be nothing more comfortable, than to be numbered among the members thereof.
A Psalm or song committed to the sons of Korah.
1 God laid his [a]foundations among the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loveth the gates of Zion above all the habitations of Jacob.
3 [b]Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.
4 I will make mention of [c]Rahab and Babel among them that know me: behold Palestine and Tyre with Ethiopia, [d]There is he born.
5 And of Zion it shall be said, [e]Many are born in her: and he, even the most High shall stablish her.
6 The Lord shall count, when he [f]writeth the people, He was born there. Selah.
7 As well the singers as the players on instruments shall praise thee: all my [g]springs are in thee.
90 1 Moses in his prayer setteth before us the eternal favor of God toward his, 3 who are neither admonished by the brevity of their life, 7 nor by his plagues to be thankful, 12 therefore Moses prayeth God to turn their hearts, and continue his mercies toward them and their posterity forever.
A prayer of Moses, [a]the man of God.
1 Lord, thou hast been our [b]habitation from generation to generation.
2 Before the [c]mountains were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art our God.
3 Thou [d]turnest man to destruction: again thou sayest, Return ye sons of Adam.
4 [e]For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
5 Thou hast [f]overflowed them, they are as a sleep, in the morning he groweth like the grass:
6 In the morning it flourisheth and groweth, but in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
7 For we are [g]consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
9 For all our days are past in thine anger: we have [h]spent our years as a thought.
10 The time of our life is threescore years and ten, and if they be of strength, [i]fourscore years: yet their strength is but labor and sorrow: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.
11 [j]Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy fear is thine anger.
12 Teach us so to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto [k]wisdom.
13 Return (O Lord, [l]how long?) and be [m]pacified toward thy servants.
14 Fill us with thy mercy in the morning: so shall we rejoice and be glad all our days?
15 Comfort us according to the days that thou hast afflicted us, and according to the years that we have seen evil.
16 [n]Let thy work be seen toward thy servants, and thy glory upon their [o]children.
17 And let the [p]beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and [q]direct thou the work of our hands upon us, even direct the work of our hands.
136 1 A most earnest exhortation to give thanks unto God for the creation and governance of all things, which standeth in confessing that he giveth us all of his mere liberality.
1 Praise ye the Lord, because he is good: for his [a]mercy endureth forever.
2 Praise ye the God of gods: for his mercy endureth forever:
3 Praise ye the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth forever:
4 Which only doeth great wonders; for his mercy endureth forever:
5 Which by his wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth forever:
6 Which hath stretched out the earth upon the waters: for his [b]mercy endureth forever:
7 Which made great lights: for his mercy endureth forever:
8 As the Sun to rule the day; for his mercy endureth forever:
9 The Moon and the stars to govern the night: for his mercy endureth forever:
10 Which smote Egypt with their firstborn, (for his mercy endureth forever)
11 And [c]brought out Israel from among them; for his mercy endureth forever:
12 With a mighty hand and [d]stretched out arm; for his mercy endureth forever:

23 Which remembered us in our [g]base estate; for his mercy endureth forever:
24 And hath rescued us from our oppressors; for his mercy endureth forever:
25 Which giveth food to all [h]flesh; for his mercy endureth forever:
26 [i]Praise ye the God of heaven; for his mercy endureth forever.
4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go and enter into the house of Israel, and declare them my words.
5 For thou art not sent to a people of an [a]unknown tongue, or of an hard language, but to the house of Israel,
6 Not to many people of an unknown tongue, or of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand: yet if I should send thee to them, they would obey thee.
7 But the house of Israel will not obey thee: for they will not obey me: yea, all the house of Israel are impudent and stiff-hearted.
8 Behold, I have made thy [b]face strong against their faces, and thy forehead hard against their foreheads.
9 I have made thy forehead as the adamant, and harder than the flint: fear them not therefore, neither be afraid at their looks: for they are a rebellious house.
10 He said moreover unto me, Son of man, [c]receive in thine heart all my words that I speak unto thee, and hear them with thine ears,
11 And go and enter to them that are led away captives unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord God: but surely they will not hear, neither will they indeed cease.
12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a noise of a great rushing, saying, [d]Blessed be the glory of the Lord out of his place.
13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the beasts, that touched one another, and the rattling of the wheels that were by them, even a noise of a great rushing.
14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I [e]went in bitterness and indignation of my spirit, but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.
15 Then I came to them that were led away captives to [f]Tel Abib, that dwelt by the river Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them [g]seven days.
16 And at the end of seven days, the word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,
17 Son of man, I have made thee a [h]watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me
7 [a]Who in the [b]days of his flesh did offer up prayers and supplications, with strong crying and tears unto him, that was able to [c]save him from death, and was also heard in that which he feared.
8 And though he were the Son, yet [d]learned he obedience, by the things which he suffered.
9 [e]And being [f]consecrated, was made the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him:
10 And is called of God an high Priest after the order of Melchizedek.
11 [g]Of whom we have many things to say, which are hard to be uttered, because ye are dull of hearing.
12 [h]For when as concerning the time ye ought to be teachers, yet have ye need again that we teach you what are the first principles of the word of God: and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For everyone that useth milk, is inexpert in the [i]word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of age, which through long custom have their [j]wits exercised, to discern both good and evil.
37 ¶ [a]And it came to pass on the next day, as they came down from the mountain, much people met him.
38 (A)And behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, behold my son: for he is all that I have.
39 And lo, a spirit taketh him, and suddenly he crieth, and he teareth him, that he foameth, and hardly departeth from him, when he hath [b]bruised him.
40 Now I have besought thy disciples to cast him out, but they could not.
41 Then Jesus answered and said, O generation faithless, and crooked, how long now shall I be with you, and suffer you? bring thy son hither.
42 And while he was yet coming, the devil rent him, and tore him: and Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him to his father.
43 ¶ [c]And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God: and while they all wondered at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,
44 [d]Mark these words diligently: (B)for it shall come to pass, that the son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
45 But they understood not that word: for it was hid from them, so that they could not perceive it: and they feared to ask him of that word.
46 ¶ (C)[e]Then there arose a disputation among them, which of them should be the greatest.
47 When Jesus saw the thoughts of their hearts, he took a little child, and set him by him,
48 And said unto them, Whosoever receiveth this little child in my Name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, he shall be great.
49 ¶ (D)[f]And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy Name, and we forbad him, because he followeth thee not with us.
50 Then Jesus said unto him, Forbid ye him not: for he that is not against us, is with us.
