Psalm 72

72 1 He prayeth for the prosperous estate of the kingdom of Solomon, who was the figure of Christ, 4 under whom shall be righteousness, peace, and felicity. 10 Unto whom all Kings and nations shall do homage, 17 Whose name and power shall endure forever, and in whom all nations shall be blessed.

A Psalm [a]of Solomon.

Give thy [b]judgments to the King, O God, and thy righteousness to the King’s [c]son.

Then shall he judge thy people in righteousness, and thy poor with equity.

The [d]mountains, and the hills shall bring peace to the people by justice.

He shall [e]judge the poor of the people: he shall save the children of the needy, and shall subdue the oppressor.

They shall [f]fear thee as long as the sun and moon endureth, from generation to generation.

He shall come [g]down like the rain upon the mown grass, and as the showers that water the earth.

In his days shall the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace shall be so long as the moon endureth.

His dominion shall be also from [h]sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the land.

They that dwell in the wilderness, shall kneel before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of [i]Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings [j]of Sheba and Seba shall bring gifts.

11 Yea, all kings shall worship him: all nations shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the poor when he crieth: the needy also, and him that hath no helper.

13 He shall be merciful to the poor and needy, and shall preserve the souls of the poor.

14 He shall redeem their souls from deceit and violence, and [k]dear shall their blood be in his sight.

15 Yea, he shall live, and unto him shall they give of the [l]gold of Sheba: they shall also pray for him continually, and daily bless him.

16 An handful of corn shall be sown in the earth, even in the top of the mountains, and the [m]fruit thereof shalt shake like the trees of Lebanon: and the children shall flourish out of the city like the grass of the earth.

17 His name shall be forever: his name shall endure as long as the Sun: all nations shall bless [n]him, and be blessed in him.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, even the God of Israel which only doeth [o]wondrous things.

19 And blessed be his glorious Name forever: and let all the earth be filled with his glory. So be it, even so be it.

[20] Here end the [p]prayers of David the son of Jesse.

Psalm 119:73-96

JOD

73 Thine hands have [a]made me and fashioned me: give me understanding therefore, that I may learn thy commandments.

74 So they that [b]fear thee, seeing me, shall rejoice, because I have trusted in thy word.

75 I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou hast afflicted me [c]justly.

76 I pray thee that thy mercy may comfort me, according to thy promise unto thy servant.

77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may [d]live: for thy Law is my delight.

78 Let the proud be ashamed: for they have dealt wickedly and falsely with me: but I meditate in thy precepts.

79 Let such as fear thee [e]turn unto me, and they that [f]know thy testimonies.

80 Let mine heart be upright in thy statutes, that I be not ashamed.

CAPH

81 My soul [g]fainted for thy salvation: yet I wait for thy word.

82 Mine eyes fail for thy promise, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

83 For I am like a [h]bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

84 How many are the [i]days of thy servant? When wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

85 The proud have [j]dug pits for me, which is not after thy Law.

86 All thy commandments are true: they persecute me falsely: [k]help me.

87 They had almost consumed [l]me upon the earth: but I forsook not thy precepts.

88 Quicken me according to thy loving kindness: so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

LAMED

89 O Lord, thy word endureth forever in [m]heaven.

90 Thy truth is from generation to generation: thou hast laid the foundation of the earth, and it abideth.

91 They [n]continue even to this day by thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.

92 Except thy law had been my delight, I should now have perished in mine affliction.

93 I will never forget thy precepts: for by them thou hast quickened me.

94 I am [o]thine, save me: for I have sought thy precepts.

95 The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.

96 I [p]have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding large.

Romans 13

13 1 He willeth that we submit ourselves to Magistrates: 8 To love our neighbor: 13 To love uprightly, 14 and to put on Christ.

Let (A)[a]every [b]soul be subject unto the higher [c]powers: [d]for there is no power but of God: and the powers that be, are [e]ordained of God.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist, shall receive to themselves condemnation.

[f]For Magistrates are not to be feared for good works, but for evil. [g]Wilt thou then be without fear of the power? do well: so shalt thou have praise of the same.

For he is the minister of God for thy wealth: [h]but if thou do evil, fear: for he beareth not the sword for nought: for he is the minister of God to [i]take vengeance on him that doeth evil.

[j]Wherefore ye must be subject, not because of wrath only, but [k]also for conscience sake.

[l]For, for this cause ye pay also tribute: for they are God’s ministers, applying themselves for the same thing.

(B)Give to all men therefore their duty: tribute, to whom ye owe tribute: custom, to whom custom: fear, to whom [m]fear: honor, to whom ye owe [n]honor.

[o]Owe nothing to any man, but to love one another: [p]for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the [q]Law.

For this, (C)Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet: and if there be any other commandment, it is [r]briefly comprehended in this saying, even in this, (D)Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

10 Love doeth not evil to his neighbor: therefore is love the (E)fulfilling of the Law.

11 [s]And that, considering the season, that it is now time that we should arise from sleep: for now is our salvation nearer, than when we believed it.

12 The night is past, and the day is [t]at hand, let us therefore cast away the works [u]of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light,

13 So that we walk honestly, as in the day: not in (F)gluttony, and drunkenness, neither in chambering and wantonness, nor in strife and envying.

14 (G)But [v]put ye on the Lord JESUS CHRIST, and take no thought for the flesh, to fulfill the lust of it.

Luke 8:16-25

16 (A)[a]No man when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it under a vessel, neither putteth it under the bed, but setteth it on a candlestick, that they that enter in, may see the light.

17 (B)For nothing is secret, that shall not be evident: neither anything hid, that shall not be known, and come to light.

18 [b]Take [c]heed therefore how ye hear: for (C)whosoever hath, to him shall be given: and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that [d]which it seemeth that he hath.

19 (D)[e]Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come near to him for the press.

20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, and would see thee.

21 But he answered, and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

22 (E)[f]And it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23 And as they sailed, he fell [g]asleep, and there came down a storm of wind on the lake, and [h]they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 Then they went to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, Master, we perish. And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and the waves of water: and they ceased, and it was calm.

25 Then he said unto them, Where is your faith? and they feared, and wondered among themselves, saying, Who is this that commandeth both the winds and water, and they obey him!
