Psalm 118

Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Saving Goodness.

118 (A)Give thanks to the Lord, for (B)He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Oh let (C)Israel say,
“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
Oh let the (D)house of Aaron say,
“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
Oh let those (E)who [a]fear the Lord say,
“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

From my (F)distress I called upon [b]the Lord;
[c]The Lord answered me and (G)set me in a large place.
The Lord is (H)for me; I will (I)not fear;
(J)What can man do to me?
The Lord is for me (K)among those who help me;
Therefore I will (L)look with satisfaction on those who hate me.
It is (M)better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in man.
It is (N)better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in princes.

10 All nations (O)surrounded me;
In the name of the Lord I will surely (P)cut them off.
11 They (Q)surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me;
In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
12 They surrounded me (R)like bees;
They were extinguished as a (S)fire of thorns;
In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
13 You (T)pushed me violently so that I [d]was falling,
But the Lord (U)helped me.
14 [e](V)The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become (W)my salvation.

15 The sound of (X)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The (Y)right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
16 The (Z)right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
17 I (AA)will not die, but live,
And (AB)tell of the works of [f]the Lord.
18 [g]The Lord has (AC)disciplined me severely,
But He has (AD)not given me over to death.

19 (AE)Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to [h]the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord;
The (AF)righteous will enter through it.
21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have (AG)answered me,
And You have (AH)become my salvation.

22 The (AI)stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief corner stone.
23 This is [i]the Lord’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let us (AJ)rejoice and be glad in it.
25 O Lord, (AK)do save, we beseech You;
O Lord, we beseech You, do send (AL)prosperity!
26 (AM)Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord;
We have (AN)blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 (AO)The Lord is God, and He has given us (AP)light;
Bind the festival sacrifice with cords [j]to the (AQ)horns of the altar.
28 (AR)You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, (AS)I extol You.
29 (AT)Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Psalm 145

The Lord Extolled for His Goodness.

A Psalm of Praise, of David.

145 I will (A)extol You, (B)my God, O King,
And I will (C)bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will (D)praise Your name forever and ever.
(E)Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His (F)greatness is unsearchable.
One (G)generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
On the (H)glorious [a]splendor of Your majesty
And (I)on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
Men shall speak of the [b]power of Your (J)awesome acts,
And I will (K)tell of Your greatness.
They shall [c]eagerly utter the memory of Your (L)abundant goodness
And will (M)shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

The Lord is (N)gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
The Lord is (O)good to all,
And His (P)mercies are over all His works.
10 (Q)All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord,
And Your (R)godly ones shall bless You.
11 They shall speak of the (S)glory of Your kingdom
And talk of Your power;
12 To (T)make known to the sons of men [d]Your mighty acts
And the (U)glory of the majesty of [e]Your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is [f]an (V)everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

14 The Lord (W)sustains all who fall
And (X)raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all [g]look to You,
And You (Y)give them their food in due time.
16 You (Z)open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is (AA)righteous in all His ways
And kind in all His deeds.
18 The Lord is (AB)near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him (AC)in truth.
19 He will (AD)fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also (AE)hear their cry and will save them.
20 The Lord (AF)keeps all who love Him,
But all the (AG)wicked He will destroy.
21 My (AH)mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
And (AI)all flesh will (AJ)bless His holy name forever and ever.

Isaiah 66:7-14

“Before she travailed, (A)she brought forth;
Before her pain came, (B)she gave birth to a boy.
(C)Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things?
Can a land be [a]born in one day?
Can a nation be brought forth all at once?
As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons.
“Shall I bring to the point of birth and (D)not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Or shall I who gives delivery shut the womb?” says your God.

Joy in Jerusalem’s Future

10 “Be (E)joyful with Jerusalem and rejoice for her, all you who (F)love her;
Be exceedingly (G)glad with her, all you who mourn over her,
11 That you may nurse and (H)be satisfied with her comforting breasts,
That you may suck and be delighted with her (I)bountiful bosom.”
12 For thus says the Lord, “Behold, I extend (J)peace to her like a river,
And the (K)glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
And you will [b]be nursed, you will be (L)carried on the [c]hip and fondled on the knees.
13 “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will (M)comfort you;
And you will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
14 Then you will (N)see this, and your (O)heart will be glad,
And your (P)bones will flourish like the new grass;
And the (Q)hand of the Lord will be made known to His servants,
But He will be (R)indignant toward His enemies.

1 John 3:4-10

Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and (A)sin is lawlessness. You know that He (B)appeared in order to (C)take away sins; and (D)in Him there is no sin. No one who abides in Him (E)sins; no one who sins has seen Him or [a](F)knows Him. (G)Little children, make sure no one (H)deceives you; (I)the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is (J)of the devil; for the devil [b]has sinned from the beginning. (K)The Son of God (L)appeared for this purpose, (M)to destroy the works of the devil. No one who is [c](N)born of God (O)practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is [d]born of God. 10 By this the (P)children of God and the (Q)children of the devil are obvious: [e]anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who (R)does not love his (S)brother.

John 10:7-16

So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am (A)the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are (B)thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. (C)I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they (D)may have life, and [a]have it abundantly.

11 (E)I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd (F)lays down His life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand, and not a (G)shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. 14 (H)I am the good shepherd, and (I)I know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as (J)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and (K)I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 I have (L)other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become (M)one flock with (N)one shepherd.
