Book of Common Prayer
Vav
41 May Your (A)favor also come to me, Lord,
Your salvation (B)according to Your [a]word;
42 So that I will have an (C)answer for one who (D)taunts me,
For I trust in Your word.
43 And do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,
For I [b](E)wait for Your judgments.
44 So I will (F)keep Your Law continually,
Forever and ever.
45 And I will (G)walk [c]at liberty,
For I (H)seek Your precepts.
46 I will also speak of Your testimonies (I)before kings
And shall not be ashamed.
47 I will (J)delight in Your commandments,
Which I (K)love.
48 And I shall lift up my hands to Your commandments,
Which I (L)love;
And I will (M)meditate on Your statutes.

49 Remember the word to Your servant,
[d]In which You have made me hope.
50 This is my (N)comfort in my misery,
That Your word has [e]revived me.
51 The arrogant (O)utterly deride me,
Yet I do not (P)turn aside from Your Law.
52 I have (Q)remembered Your judgments from [f]of old, Lord,
And comfort myself.
53 Burning (R)indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who (S)abandon Your Law.
54 Your statutes are my songs
In the house of my (T)pilgrimage.
55 Lord, I (U)remember Your name (V)in the night,
And keep Your Law.
56 This has become mine,
[g]That I (W)comply with Your precepts.
Heth
57 The Lord is my (X)portion;
I have [h]promised to (Y)keep Your words.
58 I (Z)sought Your favor (AA)with all my heart;
(AB)Be gracious to me (AC)according to Your [i]word.
59 I (AD)considered my ways
And turned my feet to Your testimonies.
60 I hurried and did not delay
To keep Your commandments.
61 The (AE)snares of the wicked have surrounded me,
But I have (AF)not forgotten Your Law.
62 At (AG)midnight I will rise to give thanks to You
Because of Your (AH)righteous judgments.
63 I am a (AI)companion to all those who [j]fear You,
And to those who keep Your precepts.
64 (AJ)The earth is full of Your goodness, Lord;
(AK)Teach me Your statutes.
11 For so the Lord spoke to me [a]with (A)mighty power and instructed me (B)not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
12 “You are not to say, ‘It is a (C)conspiracy!’
Regarding everything that this people call a conspiracy,
And (D)you are not to fear [b]what they fear or be in dread of it.
13 It is the (E)Lord of armies (F)whom you are to regard as holy.
And He shall be your fear,
And He shall be your dread.
14 Then He will become a (G)sanctuary;
But to both houses of Israel, He will be a (H)stone of stumbling and a rock [c]of offense,
And a snare and a (I)trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15 Many (J)will stumble over them,
Then they will fall and be broken;
They will be snared and caught.”
16 (K)Bind up the testimony, (L)seal the [d]Law among (M)my disciples. 17 And I will (N)wait for the Lord (O)who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob; I will wait eagerly for Him. 18 (P)Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are for (Q)signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of armies, who (R)dwells on Mount Zion.
19 When they say to you, “(S)Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should a people not (T)consult their God? Should they (U)consult the dead in behalf of the living? 20 To the [e](V)Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak in accordance with this word, it is because (W)they have no dawn.
The Word of Faith Brings Salvation
10 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. 2 For I testify about them that they have (A)a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 3 For not knowing about (B)God’s righteousness and (C)seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For (D)Christ is the [a]end of the Law for righteousness to (E)everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes of the righteousness that is [b]based on the Law, that the person who performs [c]them (F)will live by [d]them. 6 But (G)the righteousness [e]based on faith speaks as follows: “(H)Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or ‘Who will descend into the (I)abyss?’ (that is, to (J)bring Christ up from the dead).” 8 But what does it say? “(K)The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 [f]that (L)if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and (M)believe in your heart that (N)God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, [g]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [h]resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “(O)Whoever believes in Him will not be [i]put to shame.” 12 For (P)there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is (Q)Lord of (R)all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “(S)Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him (T)whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without (U)a preacher? 15 But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: “(V)How beautiful are the feet of those who [j](W)bring good news of good things!”
The Works and the Word of God.
For the music director. A Psalm of David.
19 The (A)heavens tell of the glory of God;
And their (B)expanse declares the work of His hands.
2 Day to (C)day pours forth speech,
And (D)night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
4 Their [a](E)line has gone out into all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them He has (F)placed a tent for the sun,
5 Which is like a groom coming out of his chamber;
It rejoices like a strong person to run his course.
6 Its (G)rising is from [b]one end of the heavens,
And its circuit to the [c]other end of them;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 (H)The Law of the Lord is [d](I)perfect, (J)restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is (K)sure, making (L)wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord are (M)right, (N)rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is (O)pure, (P)enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are (Q)true; they are (R)righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than (S)gold, yes, than much pure gold;
(T)Sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, (U)Your servant is warned by them;
In keeping them there is great (V)reward.
12 Who can (W)discern his errors? (X)Acquit me of (Y)hidden faults.
13 Also keep Your servant back (Z)from presumptuous sins;
Let them not (AA)rule over me;
Then I will be (AB)innocent,
And I will be blameless of (AC)great wrongdoing.
14 May the words of my mouth and (AD)the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
Lord, (AE)my rock and my (AF)Redeemer.
Prosperity of One Who Fears the Lord.
112 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
(A)Blessed is a person who [c]fears the Lord,
Who greatly (B)delights in His commandments.
2 His [d](C)descendants will be mighty [e]on the earth;
The generation of the (D)upright will be blessed.
3 (E)Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
4 Light shines in the darkness (F)for the upright;
He is (G)gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
5 It goes well for a person who (H)is gracious and lends;
He will [f]maintain his cause in judgment.
6 For he will (I)never be shaken;
The (J)righteous will be [g]remembered forever.
Hidden Treasure
44 “(A)The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from [a]joy over it he goes and (B)sells everything that he has, and buys that field.
A Costly Pearl
45 “Again, (C)the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold everything that he had and bought it.
A Dragnet
47 “Again, (D)the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; 48 and when it was filled, they pulled it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. 49 So it will be at (E)the [b]end of the age: the angels will come forth and remove the wicked from among the righteous, 50 and they (F)will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place (G)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
51 “Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.” 52 And [c]Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure new things and old.”
