Psalm 118

Thanksgiving for the Lords Saving Goodness.

118 (A)Give thanks to the Lord, for (B)He is good;
For His mercy is everlasting.
Let (C)Israel say,
“His mercy is everlasting.”
Oh let the (D)house of Aaron say,
“His mercy is everlasting.”
Let those (E)who [a]fear the Lord say,
“His mercy is everlasting.”

From my (F)distress I called upon [b]the Lord;
[c]The Lord answered me and (G)put me in an open space.
The Lord is (H)for me; I will (I)not fear;
(J)What can man do to me?
The Lord is for me (K)among those who help me;
Therefore I will (L)look with satisfaction on those who hate me.
It is (M)better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in people.
It is (N)better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in noblemen.

10 All nations (O)surrounded me;
In the name of the Lord I will certainly (P)fend them off.
11 They (Q)surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me;
In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.
12 They surrounded me (R)like bees;
They were extinguished like a (S)fire of thorn bushes;
In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.
13 You (T)pushed me violently so that I [d]was falling,
But the Lord (U)helped me.
14 [e](V)The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become (W)my salvation.

15 The sound of (X)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The (Y)right hand of the Lord performs valiantly.
16 The (Z)right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord performs valiantly.
17 I (AA)will not die, but live,
And (AB)tell of the works of [f]the Lord.
18 [g]The Lord has (AC)disciplined me severely,
But He has (AD)not turned me over to death.

19 (AE)Open the gates of righteousness to me;
I will enter through them, I will give thanks to [h]the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord;
The (AF)righteous will enter through it.
21 I will give thanks to You, for You have (AG)answered me,
And You have (AH)become my salvation.

22 A (AI)stone which the builders rejected
Has become the [i]chief cornerstone.
23 This came about from the Lord;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let’s (AJ)rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Please, O Lord, (AK)do save us;
Please, O Lord, do send (AL)prosperity!
26 (AM)Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord;
We have (AN)blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 (AO)The Lord is God, and He has given us (AP)light;
Bind the festival sacrifice [j]to the (AQ)horns of the altar with cords.
28 (AR)You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, (AS)I exalt You.
29 (AT)Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His mercy is everlasting.

Psalm 145

The Lord Exalted for His Goodness.

A Psalm of Praise, of David.

145 I will (A)exalt You, (B)my God, the King,
And I will (C)bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will (D)praise Your name forever and ever.
(E)Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised;
And His (F)greatness is unsearchable.
One (G)generation will praise Your works to another,
And will declare Your mighty acts.
On the (H)glorious [a]splendor of Your majesty
And (I)on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
People will speak of the [b]power of Your (J)awesome acts,
And I will (K)tell of Your greatness.
They will burst forth [c]in speaking of Your (L)abundant goodness,
And will (M)shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

The Lord is (N)gracious and compassionate;
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The Lord is (O)good to all,
And His (P)mercies are over all His works.
10 (Q)All Your works will give thanks to You, Lord,
And Your (R)godly ones will bless You.
11 They will speak of the (S)glory of Your kingdom,
And talk of Your might,
12 To (T)make known to the sons of mankind [d]Your mighty acts,
And the (U)glory of the majesty of [e]Your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is [f]an (V)everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
[g]The Lord is faithful in His words,
And holy in all His works.

14 The Lord (W)supports all who fall,
And (X)raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all [h]look to You,
And You (Y)give them their food in due time.
16 You (Z)open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is (AA)righteous in all His ways,
And kind in all His works.
18 The Lord is (AB)near to all who call on Him,
To all who call on Him (AC)in truth.
19 He will (AD)fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also (AE)hear their cry for help and save them.
20 The Lord (AF)watches over all who love Him,
But He will destroy all the (AG)wicked.
21 My (AH)mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
And (AI)all flesh will (AJ)bless His holy name forever and ever.

Jeremiah 23:16-32

16 This is what the Lord of armies says:
(A)Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you.
They are (B)leading you into futility;
They tell a (C)vision of their own [a]imagination,
Not (D)from the mouth of the Lord.
17 They keep saying to those who (E)despise Me,
‘The Lord has said, “(F)You will have peace”’;
And as for everyone who walks in the (G)stubbornness of his own heart,
They say, ‘(H)Disaster will not come on you.’
18 But (I)who has stood in the council of the Lord,
That he should see and hear His word?
Who has paid (J)attention to [b]His word and listened?
19 Behold, the (K)storm of the Lord has gone forth in wrath,
Even a whirling tempest;
It will swirl down on the head of the wicked.
20 The (L)anger of the Lord will not turn back
Until He has (M)performed and carried out the purposes of His heart;
(N)In the last days you will clearly understand it.
21 (O)I did not send these prophets,
But they ran.
I did not speak to them,
But they prophesied.
22 But if they had (P)stood in My council,
Then they would have (Q)announced My words to My people,
And would have turned them back from their evil way
And from the evil of their deeds.

23 “Am I a God who is (R)near,” declares the Lord,
“And not a God far off?
24 Can a person (S)hide himself in hiding places
So that I do not see him?” declares the Lord.
(T)Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord.

25 “I have (U)heard what the prophets have said who (V)prophesy falsely in My name, saying, ‘I had a (W)dream, I had a dream!’ 26 How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, these prophets of the (X)deceitfulness of their own heart, 27 who intend to (Y)make My people forget My name by their dreams which they report to one another, just as their fathers (Z)forgot My name because of Baal? 28 The prophet who has a dream may report his dream, but let him who has (AA)My word speak My word truthfully. (AB)What does straw have in common with grain?” declares the Lord. 29 “Is My word not like (AC)fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a (AD)hammer which shatters a rock? 30 Therefore behold, (AE)I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord, “who steal My words from each other. 31 Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord, “who [c]use their tongues and declare, ‘The Lord declares!’ 32 Behold, I am against those who have prophesied (AF)false dreams,” declares the Lord, “and reported them and led My people astray by their lies and (AG)reckless boasting; yet (AH)I did not send them nor command them, nor do they (AI)provide this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.

1 Corinthians 9:19-27

19 For though I am (A)free from all people, I have made myself (B)a slave to all, so that I may (C)gain more. 20 (D)To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the Law, I became as one under the Law, though (E)not being under the Law myself, so that I might gain those who are under the Law; 21 to those who are (F)without the Law, I became (G)as one without the Law, though not being without the law of God but (H)under the law of Christ, so that I might gain those who are without the Law. 22 To the (I)weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak; I have become (J)all things to all people, (K)so that I may by all means save some. 23 I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.

24 (L)Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives (M)the prize? (N)Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Everyone who (O)competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable (P)wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I (Q)run in such a way as not to run aimlessly; I box in such a way, as [a]to avoid (R)hitting air; 27 but I strictly discipline (S)my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Mark 8:31-9:1

31 (A)And He began to teach them that (B)the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise from the dead. 32 And He was stating the matter (C)plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. 33 But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, (D)Satan; for you are not setting your mind on [a]God’s purposes, but on man’s.”

34 And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, (E)take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For (F)whoever wants to save his [b]life will lose it, but whoever loses his [c]life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what could a person give in exchange for his soul? 38 For (G)whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, (H)the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He (I)comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

The Transfiguration

And Jesus was saying to them, (J)Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God when it has come with power.”
