Book of Common Prayer
To the Overcomer upon Neginah, A Psalm of David.
1 ¶ Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth I will cry unto thee when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever; I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
5 ¶ For thou, O God, hast heard my vows; thou hast given an inheritance to those that fear thy name.
6 Thou wilt add days upon days unto the king’s life; his years shall be from generation to generation.
7 He shall abide before God for ever; He is aware of mercy and truth which preserve him.
8 So I will sing thy name for ever, performing my vows each day.
To the Overcomer, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.
1 ¶ Only in God does my soul rest; from him comes my saving health.
2 He only is my rock and my saving health; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
3 How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? Shall ye murder each other until ye are as a bowing wall and as a tottering fence?
4 They only consult to cast him down from his greatness; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse in their inward parts. Selah.
5 My soul, rest thou only in God, for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my saving health; he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my saving health and my glory; the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.
8 ¶ Wait in him at all times; ye peoples, pour out your heart before him; God is our refuge. Selah.
9 Surely the sons of Adam are vanity, and the sons of nobles are a lie; to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
10 Trust not in violence and become not vain in the taking of spoil; if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
11 God has spoken once; twice have I heard this that power belongs unto God.
12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongs mercy, for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

1 ¶ Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy and for thy truth.
2 Why should the Gentiles say, Where is now their God?
3 But our God is in the heavens; he has made whatever he has desired.
4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
5 They have mouths, but they shall never speak; they have eyes, but they shall never see:
6 They have ears, but they shall never hear; they have noses, but they shall never smell;
7 they have hands, but they shall never touch; they have feet, but they shall never walk; they shall never speak through their throat.
8 Let those that make them become like unto them, and every one that trusts in them.
9 ¶ O Israel, trust thou in the LORD; he is your help and your shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; he is your help and your shield.
11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; he is your help and your shield.
12 The LORD has been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will greatly bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those that fear the LORD, both small and great.
14 The LORD shall increase his blessing upon you more and more, upon you and your sons.
15 Ye are blessed of the LORD who made the heavens and earth.
16 The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, but the earth he has given to the sons of Adam.
17 The dead shall not praise JAH, neither any that go down into silence.
18 But we will bless JAH from this time forth and for evermore. Halelu-JAH.
11 ¶ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD,
3 and shall make him of quick olfaction in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge according to the sight of his eyes, neither reprove according to the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the spirit of his lips he shall slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faith the girdle of his kidneys.
6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a child shall shepherd them.
7 The cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
20 ¶ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the serpent of old, which is the Devil and Satan and bound him a thousand years
3 and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon it, that he should deceive the Gentiles no more, until the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after it is necessary that he be loosed a little while.
4 And I saw thrones, and those who sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them; and I saw the souls of those that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the word of God and who had not worshipped the beast neither its image neither had received its mark upon their foreheads or in their hands; and they shall live and reign with Christ the thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection; on such the second death has no authority, but they shall be priests of God and of the Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison
8 and shall go out to deceive the Gentiles which are upon the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth and compassed the camp of the saints about and the beloved city; and fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
30 I can of my own self do nothing; as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who has sent me.
31 ¶ If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that bears witness of me, and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true.
33 Ye sent unto John, and he bore witness unto the truth.
34 But I receive not testimony from man, but I say these things that ye might be saved.
35 He was a burning and a shining light, and ye were willing to rejoice for one hour in his light.
36 But I have greater testimony than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me that the Father has sent me.
37 And the Father himself, who has sent me, has borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time nor seen his appearance.
38 And ye do not have his word abiding in you; for whom he has sent, him ye do not believe.
39 Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are those who testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I do not receive glory from men.
42 But I know you that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I have come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not; if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, who take glory one from another, and seek not the glory that comes only from God?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye do not believe his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
